Why do people join the military? Well i can't speak about the rationale of every new recruit that joins up, but i would imagine that many of them join because of the financial incentives offered by the military if they serve (they pay for your college education et.c)

@xxxserialxxx The War in Iraq has nothing to do with "defending the U.S" the story leading up to the invasion of Iraq was that Saddam had WMD's (that the U.S supplied him with, back when he was their ally) and that he was going to use them against the U.S. Of course, this turned out to be completely fake, to this day they never found any WMD's, the mission is still very fuzzy and nobody really knows what the hell they are doing over there, or when it's going to end.
