Slim Dusty .. & his mates Shorty Ranger, Buddy Williams, Stan Coster .. et al .. came from an era in time where hardship was a fact of everyday life (these guys cut their teeth on The Great Depression). This life-experience forged their great characters & their immensely-lovable personas, one & all. They were men of integrity, fair dinkum Aussie blokes, men who called a spade a spade & who didn't tolerate any of the bullshit that so permeates our society today. We won't see their kind again.

A fitting salute to the great man himself. I attended his funeral and they did the same sort of thing for him there. I shed a tear or two when they id it there and almost again watching this. There will be no one else who devotes themselves to Australia as much as Slim did.

The greatest country singer of all time?? I think that might be stretching it a wee bit! No doubt he had his good songs but when you talk about the greatest you would have to mention names like Jimmie Rodgers, Hank Snow, Hank Williams, Wilf Carter. In Australia you would have to name Tex Morton, Buddy Williams and Gordon Parsons, all of which had a more musical voice than Slim Dusty.

E thn B then back to E for intro...E thn B thn E(Lkin frwd,lkn bck)...C#M thn G#M...C#M thn G#M then B thn E...middle bit is C#M(2 bars)then F#M then G# thn C#M then B thn E thn F# thn B...repeat the lot (except intro)Hopefully, this helps you...i myself play by ear, so ths is the actual key Slim used...enjoy!!

too true...all the more amazing that it was actually written by Don Walker(ex-Cold Chisel keyboardist), who kindly allowed Slim to record it. At his funeral, i remember thinking at the time, no more a song was as fitting for Slim as this one.
