I've seen Hoop Dreams twice and absolutely love it. Just so fascinating and dramatic and few fiction films are as well made. An unforgivable snub.

Thank you for putting this up...I just finished watching the film again, after many years and...it truly was groundbreaking, an absolute tour de force of filmaking. There is one great thing to come from the utter snub they got - not only do great documentaries seen by more than three people actually get nominated in that catagory, but I think one day...one might actually win. Arguably Hoop Dreams should have won, that year. Release Hoop Dreams today and it could actually win Best Picture.
