  • You made that look to easy..Thats amazing bro,Ur a beast!!!

  • everyone in the background is mirin'

  • Son I am impressed

  • That's awesome. Now touch your chest : )

  • @SandWraith123 He had a clean lift to me, his arms were parallel with his chest which is perfect form. Touching your chest puts unnecessary strain on the shoulder promoting injury. I don't know why everyone always discredits people on bench when the don't have the bar glued to their chest.

Btw solid lift man! keep up the good work!

  • @Irkie500 it's just a standard thing. all official weightlifting competitions require it, and most require a pause as well. And as far as "unnecessary" is concerned, so is deadlifting. But im not discrediting at all. I'd be proud to get that shit off the rack.

  • Awesome lift! I thought you were going to rep out more. It looked so easy. I have never used the suicide grip. I might try it. but with way lower weight. ha. Like 380. ha

  • the grips getting me nervous but you could have taken that for a double easy dude. good bench!

  • Looks like you could have gotten that for 10 reps. Good job.

  • @815Rider Thanks a lot bro!

  • how much more weight does a shirt allow you to do?

  • @Schizzzbizzle To tell u the truth I am not sure - I'd say an extra 100lb+ I think - but not sure

  • @jeasy02 careful witht he suicide grip

  • @Andydag904 thanks - I feel more of a push when I use the suicide grip versus the normal grip. But thanks tho

  • @Schizzzbizzle I am not even sure - well that was 3 years ago now it's gone up about 50lbs. But I focus more on squats and deadlifts now

  • @jeasy02 oh gotcha, im small still working on it

  • Your thumb placement scares the hell out of me.

  • @ssz28envy yeah it scares a lot of people - but i've always trained like that and cannot place my thumbs around the bench. I had one accident, but that was when I came back from not lifting for awhile and tried to push 405lbs, mad move! But other than that, never had an accident. - KNOCK ON WOOD!

  • @ssz28envy suicide grip. it's the only way i can bench also. then again i only push 315.

  • very strong and competely raw.......

  • @sgtfitz71 THanks man - I'll keep it raw all day everyday!

  • @sgtfitz71 You are strong like bull ,very power full !!!

  • @jeasy02 no, i didn't even notice you not going down all the way, I said terrible form because it looks like you just plop yourself down on the bench and press without getting tight or getting a good arch or leg drive or anything, which is why it is impressive that you cna still bench 500 without any factors working in your favor

  • @iratelyblank I apologize for that - yeah that's how I usually bench. When it comes time for competition, then I'll get my good form and do what I need to do. But an ordinary day, this is how I train!

  • damn terrible form and still strong as hell

  • @iratelyblank You think that's terrible form? Why because I did not go down all the way? Well if that's the case look at my other videos while at a competition doing more weight and look at how I went ALL the way down to my chest and ALL the way up to the lockout position - then come back and comment

  • @iratelyblank HOW THE HELL WAS THAT TERRIBLE FORM? THAT WAS A PERFECT BENCH PRESS YOU DON'T KNOW SHIT ABOUT LIFTING WEIGHTS DUDE

  • @iratelyblank LOL! bad form? How? Asking for perfect form at 510 is like asking for 40mpg out of a muscle car; you can't have both! You sir have earned a thumbs down

  • BLACK POWER! WOO!

  • @pumitaproductions haha.. that's right!! lol

  • No lift in any federation in the whole world. Touch the chest. I see more and more guys doing this fake bench. What's going on? Who invented this crap. Just like those half ass barely parallel sumo good morning lock outs what they call a "squat"in these days. No more ass to grass squats like olympic lifters.

  • @juliesteve Ok just go to my videos and you will see me doing 535lbs at my last competition - touch and go! When you see that then come back and talk to me

  • @juliesteve Ass to grass.. the good ol days. My resistance training teacher asked me to demonstrate squats for the class the other day. Then he said I was going too low. Know what I did? I did his bullshit squat half squat because I wanted a good mark.

  • why use the deathgrip?

  • You made that look too easy.

  • wow perfect!

  • looks like you had another rep or 2 in you good lift.

  • @skating4u Thanks man - yeah I did, but I know that when i tend to do big weight like that, I try to only stick with one rep because I am afraid of my shoulder.

  • Did you touch the chest?

  • Dude that was awesome! I can only dream of getting there, my goal right now is just 400 lbs. I suffered a pec tear a little over a year ago, before coming to college, so it's be tough getting my bench back up. How do you train?

  • awesome verry good lift

  • holy shit....

  • Great lift bro...... Way to keep the hips down! Awesome job!

  • @sfranklin0440 Thanks a lot - appreciate it!

  • Good Job!

  • @Dave19141918 Thanks...

  • get your hands away from it spotter

  • @FRIDAY13TAURUS hahah... yeah he is a pretty good spotter though. I made sure I told him before I lift to NOT touch the bar at all. The only time I want you to touch it is when you see the weight going right back down to my touch and then just lift it up.

  • Hello Bencher,

I am the admin of the World Strongmen and Powerlifting League.

We are building a world ranking of Benchers via Youtube.

There are but too many people like you benchpressing on their own waiting to see their performance recognised as such.

I've found your bench quite good.

If you think it is worth being ranked please get in touch with us.

Just google WSMPL Rules and there you are !

    Regards.

  • @loomingscythe look at Kiril Sarychev's video...he's 21 yrs old benching 660 raw with a pause...

  • Comment removed

  • fuckin hell im doin 120 for 6 at 15 this guy mustve been like 250 for 20 at my age xD

  • good thing u beasted that lift, cuz if u got stuck i'm not sure ur spotter coulda done much

  • Steroids...

  • was he putting his shoulder blades together, i didnt notice him popping his chest out...seems like he was doing it flat on bench...thats superb!!

  • holy shit, amazing

  • niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice

  • lol the chick at this vid, Peanuts! Lightweight lightweight !:D

  • He didn't come down all the way.

  • how many times can you bench press 300 pounds

  • dude.. beast mode !

  • nice little pause there

  • you're a beast man! way to go!

  • Great job, great form. I see people posting 315+ bench presses with the most atrocious form, and its laughable.

  • damn this nigga is strong

  • one shit spoter.kill the spoter

  • hmm its pretty dangerous lifting such heavy weight with that grip.. but i guess if it hasnt slipped and fallen on you yet it hopefully wont ever. good lift!

  • very impressive.

  • much respect very nice lift!!!!! 5 stars...

  • with the false grip you can't pull the bar apart as well - there's less lat engagement.

  • yeah nice bench, but to jersey boy....i did 315 at 175lbs....but im 6ft tall....all i have to say is im benching 90 lbs now...i blew my shoulder out and now have 5 shinny screws in it lol watch out lifting heavy when your a small guy

  • Nice lift man.. respect!

I just got 315 yesterday at 5' 7'' 160. I'm starting to lift like a powerlifter now so hopefully my bench keeps climbing haha

  • whoops. shift the weight .LOL. not shit

  • I use the false grip as well. Seems to shit the weight more on my lats and off my triceps. Very stumble difference in feel but my back is my strong point and my triceps are weak in comparison. Let me ask u. I read that u should flex ur lats for a few seconds right before u bench. triggers more muscle fibers right before ur max lift. I'm at 365LBS but I think my form needs improvement because I have been getting slight pulls in my right pec and left shoulder. check out Glen Chabot 600lbs-3X raw!

  • Yeah a guy told me at a comp that rest on your traps and flex your lats and arch the back a little. For the longest I never did that but still did well. But once I started doing it the weight went up a lot easier. And always keep your shoulders tight to your body. It takes a lot of practice to get it down packed but once you do, then you good!!!! HEAVY WEIGHT - LIGHT REPETITIONS!!!

  • @westy44cal Your gona find false grip will eventually "shit" or shift the weight directly onto your clavicle. Your choice though.

  • man stop using false grip (thumbs behind the bar) ive seen ppl get serisously hurt using that...but nice bench keep on workin out

  • Ok - let's see - I've been using the "false grip" for the past 10 years now and never once got hurt. "I've been using the "false grip" for the past 7 years competition and never got hurt. "I've been using the "false grip" for the past 10 bench press comps I've done and came in 1st 8 times...and..umm..let's see... yeah that's about it! But thanks for the compliment tho appreciate it

  • amazing to say u dident tuck ya legs in and arched ya back, why dident u do that if u compete in benching u would lift more

  • Crazy....I got a buddy who doesn't "dense-up" with a 500 raw. Incredible strength, incredible control man. Hopefully you did well at your comp.

  • My comp is March 21st and my last one I came in First.. thanks man!

  • I do arch the back and tuck the legs - that was just an ordinary bench day in the gym

  • haha, you bastard jeasy

  • oh no not the dreaded death grip...nasty

  • hahah... that is the only grip I am comfortable with. I've tried others but just cannot seem to get the same amount of power as I do with the death grip. I had one accident at 4 plates but gratefully it was not that high from my chest.

  • no touch?

  • Nah not when I am training - it tends to put a little strain on my elbows when I go all the way down. The only time I go all the way down is at my comp. My other video is me at a comp three years ago and that is touch-pause-go! When I train I go almost all the way down.

  • what a pussy. 1 rep? PU-SAY!

  • hahah.. I can only imagine who this is

  • actually im a freshman and can bench 10 reps of 230

  • Thanks bro! I compete in USPF and APA. Got a big meet coming up in June in Rhode Island which is the Nationals. So we'll see how that goes.

  • massive bench! well done man

  • thank man...

  • stay raw

    What is your body weight?

  • LIGHT WEIGHT BABY!!!

  • um that was just silly!! I mean dam!! Great Benchpress!! You look like you could have done more too!! Sick man just sick..

  • yeah I probably could have done one more, but at that moment just wasn't feeling it.. but my next comp, which is in June, i'm shootin for 600lbs raw!

  • sweet bench bro, great form, very impressive, dangerous grip but if it works for you than cool. i would get a bigger spotter though to make sure he could really help if you ever need it..

  • good lift dont ever wear a shirt keep doing it raw.

  • O yeah of course. I mean I thought about it, but then I realized that I can continue without the shirt and my goal is to have the best RAW lift. My next comp is in March and the Nationals in June, the goal is 600lbs raw! If I can get that then I'll be good... thanks tho!

  • LEGIT!!

  • thanks bro...

  • very good form...

  • thanks... a lot of people criticize me about the way I position my thumbs.. but for me that works!!!

  • how long have you been working out for?

  • sorry just getting back to this post. Ever since 98 so going on 12 years now. And I remembe my first big bench was 185..lol

  • ah nice =P

  • Notice the guy in the background wishin he was as strong as you haha

    awesome lift

  • Nice power you got there. Just like you im going for the 600 soon enuff. I am banging on the east coast. Maybe we will bump into each othe at a meet. USPL. Raw.

  • Nice, u really don't have to touch ur chest, a lot of the videos show guys arching their backs to touch their chests, he kept his back straight and his arms were perfectly aligned when he went low, Good Shit

  • This is a good lift. The speed the bar moved with is excellent. And fake plates? please. You can see the whip of the bar on the lift off. And lastly, always glad to see another guy who doesn't dig bench shirts. Keep benching raw. Eventually raw will overtake this shirted BS we are seeing because people are getting sick of it.

  • allow me to rant for a sec. first off great lift. second notice the standard 20kilo/45lb plates that were on the bar? that is what you look for to determine if the vid is real or not. if you see thicker than normal black plates on the bar and they claim to be 45s those are rubber bumper plates usually weigh 35lbs. so many people fall for fakes. a guy 1/2 this guys size outlifting him would have to be a pro athlete right? this vid is real and very good. watch out for fakers.

  • Thanks man I appreciate it... you know it's funny I never thought they even had fake plates until I started watching some videos on youtube, well maybe not fake but like you said 35lbs. Terrible!!! Thanks tho for the comment...

  • you should do raw powerlifting! you are very strong, remember if you think your bench is stock at a curtain weight, do a lot of tricep and shoulder work and thats going to help you out, but again you prolly now this, good job homie.

  • O yeah no doubt! That post was like a year and a half ago. ALl of my competitions are raw lifts. I compete with people who use shirts and I still come in first place. Not trying to brag or anything, but I love the competition. But my last comp I did 540lbs. I have one this November and trying to hit 560lbs, so we'll see! Thanks bro!

  • iight, im sure you'll hit 560 and soon 600. you should post other vids if you can, good luck on your comp, and keep up the good work.

  • what a douchebag spotter... cool lift bro

  • everyone who is trying to correct this man's form needs to shut up. He just pushed 520 lbs. That is not an accident or a fluke...that is called years of hard work and dedication. Good lift big man!!!!!!!!

  • I greatly appreciate the comment Lancer thanks!!! It was years of hard work and dedication. Thanks man!!!

  • all of you guys fighting... seriously? mind your own business.

back on topic, nice bench bro.

  • haha.. thanks bro!!!! Appreciate it!

  • Yeah it is the placement of the hands. I like what everyone calls the suicide grip. I cannot use the other one, I get more power this way. I was just reading a lot of the posts on here about the lifting the butt off of the bench. I arch my back more than anything without lifting my butt off the bench. When I do my competitions I arch a little and rest on my traps and I have achieved great success doing that.

  • is the grip thing you guys are talking about have to do with the placement of his thumbs or what?

  • omg suicide grip. death waiting to happen.

  • i hate it when ppl grip like that

  • scary grip

  • Nice one mate.

  • thats a hugeweight... well done.. I was half expectinone of them accident videos

  • its very impressive but give the guy some credit its 520lbs raw

  • need to touch your chest w/ the weight and pause. then finish the rep. if you do that you will be at 600 by this time next year. still looked strong though. first time i hit 525 it was touch and go also. i wound up screwing up my shoulders. by the way, what fed. you lifting in?

  • Actually I have another video in my list that I was actually doing the same weight at a competition two years ago - and that I touched my chest. If you take a look at "Big James 540 lb raw bench press" that is me doing 540lbs at the Nationals in Rhode Island last year. This year I'll be doing hopefully 570lbs raw or more on June 7th

  • I wasnt down playing your lift, i used to train like that, but when i got up to training with 430 for reps, I wound up getting an impenged ligament in my shoulder. Doc said it was from prolonged strain on my shoulder joint in an unatural position. you never answered what federation you lift in? just curious. I just got back into powerlifting after ten years and just won ADFPF Indiana State title about two weeks ago.

  • sorry about that.. I am in a couple of federations: USPF, APA, and APF. And there are some local Raw shows that I compete in to.

  • impressive

  • wow that was a great lift. im amazed. great work.

  • Again with the arch back!!! Hope he has really good insurance!

  • You are meant to arch your back you idiot. Not doing so pputs your shoulders in a compromised position for one thing.

  • Yea, no, calling me an idiot is not neccesary, but, when you arch your back so far your ass comes off the seat, and clearly his did, thats when the integrity of the rotator cuff is comprimised. Thanks but no thanks, I know from experience of doing wrong first then doing it right!! But whatever you can be right if it makes you feel better!!!

  • Are you retarded? First of all, his butt doesn't come off the bench, he barely arches. Look at scott Mendleson or any other pro-bencher to see a larger arch. I think THEY know what they are doing.

Secondly arching reduces shoulder rotation ful stop, there is no reason that romoving your butt from the bench compromises the rotator cuff. You are talking out your ass, and if not, please send me some links to prove what you say isn't total bullshit.

  • you're absolutely right, harris. Arching is actually the CORRECT, and safe, way to perform a bench press. You take a ton of stress off of your shoulders doing this, preventing injury as well.

  • another thing...when u arch ur back you actually USE YOUR CHEST if you keep your back flat you use more of your back and arms...look at all the big body builders...you dont see their back flat on the bench...get ur shit straight.

  • true to a degree but theres two different ways to lift , arch and with little or no arch , depends on person and there are different bench suits to accommodate for both types

  • man i hate when ppl look at cha when your working out

  • Great Lift Big Dawg!

  • i dont care how big you are that is an ass of weight! haha keep it up!

  • Dam man your are beastly. 5 stars!

  • that shit's crazy man, keep up the good work!

  • How much can u bench lardass? sounds like you a jealous bitch

  • awesome lift and motivational video... keep em' coming. Best of luck in future competitions!

  • suicide grip all day! nice lift

  • nice lift! how much do you weigh? and how old are you? and one last question, how long have you been lifting? ha when i was 14 i benched 105(i know i was really small) i am 19 now and can bench 345, any suggestions on how to get a better bench besides just doing bench?

  • Thx! I am 28 and weigh approx. 265lbs. I have been lifting for about 10 years now. I started off benching 185 and now around 550. So it took me awhile to get up to where I am now, everyone has to begin somewhere. Do a lot of tricep work. More closegrip bench! Closegrip helped my bench a lot because you figure you are using your triceps the last 50% of the lift, so it is important to build a strong triceps. So do a lot of good heavy tricep work. Any more questions feel free to send me email

  • that wouldn't even have counted because he didn't pause nor did he touch his chest good effort though

  • Yeah well that was just in the gym... But if you look at my other video that I have, you'll see me doing 520lb at a competition. And recently, if you look up the Nationals that was held in RI on June 29th, I did 540 there. But thanks for the complement though, greatly appreciated!!!

  • Sweet lift. How much did you get in the comp?

  • would that lift have been accepted in a comp? usually it has to stay on the chest for a pause doesnt it

  • Nah that definitely would not have counted. When I am at the gym I do not practice my pauses, unless it's approx. 4 weeks out. When it gets close to the comp then I begin practicing my pauses

  • where do you lift where they dont require a wrapped thumb? most all feds require that because of the obvious danger involved.

  • I lift in Mass, at a World's Gym. Most of the federations that I compete (APF, USPF) they don't require me to wrap the thumb. I know everyone thinks it is dangerous and I do appreciate everyone's concern, but I have had this grip for so long and have tried so many different grips and this is the most comfortable one for me. I get a lot more power doing it this way. But thx!

  • wait, you lift in apf and still lift raw? haha thats awesome. ya they allow anything, and uspf even allows a reverse grip. whatever floats your boat though. keep up the good work

  • Ya dude no thumb = very dangerous :P careful man and ur strong!

  • Real strong pressing. Wrap those thumbs though!!! You seen the youtube video with the guy benching 405 I think it is and the bar slips and falls in his chest? I know it's probably more comfortable but all it takes is a sweaty palm for a 1/4 of weight to be sitting on your neck. Then again, you're benching 500+ and I'm not. Just throwing it out there though. Good work.

  • Thanks! Yeah I have been doing that grip forever now and no accidents (knock on wood!) I've tried the other grip with the thumb wrapped around and it is very uncomfortable for me. Yeah what I try to do before every lift is take a towel and wipe my hands clean so they are dry. But thanks again tho!

  • umm man becareful you gotta lock your thump around the bar

  • great lift, very very strong

  • Thx! I appreciate it! It's a lot of weight tho man let me tell ya! Goal is 600lbs with no shirt! So by the end of this year hopefully! Thx again!

  • Thx!! Yeah using a shirt, I mean I am not going to knock it but it is definitely something I want to shy away from. There is this guy, I forgot his name, but he is on youtube, who benched 650lbs RAW with no shirt! Now that's impressive and I want to get up to that level. But thx!

  • Nice lift! Jeremy Hoornstra was the 650 RAW guy probably. In case no ones replied to this already.

  • Thx!! Yeah using a shirt, I mean I am not going to knock it but it is definitely something I want to shy away from. There is this guy, I forgot his name, but he is on youtube, who benched 650lbs RAW with no shirt! Now that's impressive and I want to get up to that level. But thx!

  • great lift, yeah i like raw better also, its more impressive than a shirt

  • Hey great lift. Good thing you have a spotter while using that suicide grip.
