Congratulations to all of you for appreciating such a great song they never play on the radio! It is so relaxing.....Well, time to log off and go listen to it another thirty times in a row (from SRV@DT's "In Step" CD). What a great way to close out a CD!!!
"Whatever gets the job done." Great expression. I'll have to remember that for arguments about technique. "The tune comes first, guys!" Great, thanks!
I'm a drummer but THIS IS FASCINATING to me !! I want your opinion now, how hard is this song to play ? How do you rank SRV amongst the greatest guitar players ? What do you think of this song ? Is there " magic " in some guitars, like SRV's ? Thank you greatly, appreciate it.
@gaspo2180 I play drums, and other instruments, but guitar is my real passion... In my opinon, SRV is one of the greatest ever; if not truly one of the best. In difficulty? This song is pretty hard to play, getting all the slides and hammer ons and pullofs down, while keeping the solid rhythm and everything... But, that being said, his music is not the hardest to play. Simply some of the most beautiful ;) If guitarists who like blues want some tough things to play, Jimi Hendrix is on the list.:P
@fargenacle There are many names that can be given to these chords (at 0:52) but the easiest name would be a B flat dominant 13 chord (because the 6th degree relative to the root of the chord is the G which is on the B string on the 8th fret!) then it resolves to a regular B flat dominant 7 chord...
@hiladelphia I just watched and listened to every version I have. Open E is what I see and hear. Where did you get the harmonic from? I'm not saying you're wrong but I am curious.
Nice Job, its great to see someone doing it justice, Kudos Brother.
(all except for the clock going off in the backround at .32 ) LOL

what are the names of the chords after the innitial minor 9s?
ShimoOwnzU 1 year ago
@ShimoOwnzU I wish I knew. I'm an ear player. I know basic chords but these are beyond me. Good luck, and if you find out, let me know.

@fargenacle if you sent me tabs of the chords I could tell you what they are
