Kiril and Metody (Kyrilos and Mathodios in Greek) were two Greek brothers (monks) from Thessaloniki.
They introduced the Slavic alphabet (Cyrrilic alphabet) into the slavic-speaking nations (Bulgarians, modern (ethnic) Macedonians, Serbians etc.).

Back when Alexander the great was king of macedon, they spoke macedonian. Becuase there was no greece at the time. He conquered/united greece along with spreading his kingdom far east. Greeks existed just as different regions, ie macedonia, Krete, etc. He conquered it all and therefore it was all part of the kingdom of macedonia. Also before 1944 all words finishing in consonants would have the letter "ъ" at the end. Kiril and Metody (Kyrilos and Mathodios in Greek) were two Greek brothers (monks) from Thessaloniki.
They introduced the Slavic alphabet (Cyrrilic alphabet) into the slavic-speaking nations (Bulgarians, modern (ethnic) Macedonians, Serbians etc.).
See wiki for more info.
The modern MAcedonian language belongs to south Slavic family and it uses the Cyrrilic alphabet. It should not then be confused with the ancient Greek Macedonian language.

Back when Alexander the great was king of macedon, they spoke macedonian. Becuase there was no greece at the time. He conquered/united greece along with spreading his kingdom far east. Greeks existed just as different regions, ie macedonia, Krete, etc. He conquered it all and therefore it was all part of the kingdom of macedonia. Modern day Republic of macedonia or fyrom is an ex region of Yugoslavia with inhabitants being nowday Macedonian slavs. The slavs came down well after the time of alex.

Ah, BULLSHIT!!! Even before 1918 there was a distinctive language in these areas, but it was devided into smaller language groups. (Serbian/Croatian / Macedonian) If you like to talk about historical events so much, look back to what was your country in Byzantinum times. Tzar Dusan (Car Dusan), who was the emperor of THEN Serbian empire, wrote his law codex in Skopje, which is now Macedonia. The language, people used then, is similar to what I see here, so it is not Macedonian, just OLD Serbian

This is of course completely falsified, Before 1944 - the serbian alphabet was not used "JA" could not have been written. Also before 1944 all words finishing in consonants would have the letter "ъ" at the end. I wonder why all VMRO members - and all other people in the region - wrote with the Bulgarian alphabet - and only this is with the Serbian alphabet. Obviously it was written after 1945. The name Dimoski was also invented only after 1945. Before that it was Dimov!

@blazingmaco The movement for independent Macedonia, which started far earlier (at the end of the 19th century) had an UNDISPUTED BULGARIAN CHARACTER and this fact is described by any contemporary (of the time) observer, historian, diplomat, no matter what the skopjan propagandists claim.

"according to stilipon kuriakidis, the 10th century derogatory name "vulgaroi"(bulgar), used by Byzantium was imposed to all PRAVO SLAVNI (CHRISTIANS) eg; serbs, bosnians, and of course, Macedonians! The word "Vulgaroi" (Bulgaroi) is derived from the latin (roman-gayreek) meaning; commoners, farmers or peasants, the term was adopted by byzantian since it was Roman (Rumelian) in character (stilipon kuriakidis, "Northern borders of hellenism, page 39.)

@blazingmaco There is no need to rewrite history - it’s well described in so many books. There are many examples of 1 nation living in 2 different states. Furthermore, Macedonia had a rather mixed population at that time because of which the idea for independent Macedonia was more attractive for the local population than the idea for union with Bulgaria.

But as soon as he (Mr Shapkarevic) saw them, he said that they SHOULD NOT be TAUGHT in the Macedonian schools, since they were in the BULGARIAN DIALECT; and that we should take HIS books which are in the MACEDONIAN dialect... Rights of 10/30/1870 (according to B. Koneski, Rebirth of the Macedonian nation p.68).
