  • i like your style, dude

  • beautiful guitar, awesome song!

  • what a beautiful guitar! :]

  • Damn, you're awesomely bad ass.

  • People say the most clichéd sentimental shit on Candy Rat video's.

  • anyone know what guitar that is?

  • It's guitarists like this that make me take pride in playing the wonderful instrument that is the guitar. After spending an afternoon of watching Candy Rat players, I went upstairs, pulled out my lesser played acoustic, and started doing nothing but focusing on fingerpicking, and new chords to play. Sure, I may never be able to play on the level of people like Jimmy, but I can take pride in the fact that there're still real guitar heros in the world.

  • @slashsdevil Agreed, however don't put yourself down and say you can't do something. You can do whatever you put your mind too! :)

  • its videos like this that make me depressed that i have no technique....but on the other hand this song is amazing

  • Just Great! this is music men!! PEOPLE DONT HAVE TO COMPETE is just music men! and is really good!

    PAZ!

  • amazing ... is there guitar tabs :D i love to learn this !!!

  • What guitar is this? I love the look of it!

  • @Th3Power0fMusic it looks very similar to zebrawood, but darker. maybe its got a stain over it. it does have a beautiful sound, doesn't it???

  • 181st songs is my favorite cd to just put on repeat and listen to all day

  • No offense to anyone or Jimmy, but that is by far the creepiest smile there at the end. Just screams 'don't look behind you'

  • @blackdea297 or just smiling to the sound engeneer after 100 wasted takes... k

  • @jordibp HAH! Cocky lil bastard... bet his sound board tech. wanted to horrendously rape that song with anything in his arsenal.

  • @jordibp Ouch.

  • Awesome awesome song. My ears felt naked and violated after the smile at the end...

  • I'm two videos into Jimmy Wahlsteen, and he's quickly become one of my favourite guitar players.

  • i hate tht weird smile at the end

  • 25 people thought he was playing a trumpet and downrated it because it sounded weird.

  • Is this done on one guitar?

  • looks a bit of a puff, but sounds like such a boss.

  • I fell in love with Jimmy this morning...

  • OMG I'm truly in love !!

  • i dont know why this guy looks me like Michael Jackson..

  • reverb please..

  • Its great!!!

  • on what guitar is he playing?

    sounds amazing!

  • Six-string guitar a pick and fingers... Sounds simple right?

    look again

  • i just jizzed in my pants

  • I came...

  • i'll just go ... practice now? :(

  • great playing and beautiful guitar

  • Maiz, oxente, bixim........

  • bellissima la melodia e il ritmo .....

    .

    claudio

  • 2:36 Pedosmile ;-)

  • its wonderfull how those 5000 $ guitars are taken care off... pls guys never stop posting vids you all rock !!

  • that's one preciouss guitarr great crafstmanship

  • what brand is that guitar Its soo friggin beautiful :-) someone tell me what brand and model it is....or custom made from who?

  • @AugmentedGuitarium

It's a real clunky, shitty-sounding Larrivee all-koa parlor guitar that I doubt is produced any more.

This tune sounds about 10,000% better played on his *other* Larrivee on the Joel Sahlin duet (here on SoccerTube). That guitar is a fine-sounding box, as are all Larrivee large-body instruments. But this^ little dinky thing - nooooo.

  • Sweet song!

  • Tranquility is an understatement for this song.

There is no word for the magnitude of relaxation one gets from listening to this beautiful song.

  • Eddie Izzard!!! Hahaha!

  • @daveburgess1 LOL!!!

  • @daveburgess1 hahaha classic!

  • @CanadaGuy80 Which song?

  • Comment removed

  • He looks like Adrian from little nicky in a way.

  • @enickgoku

hahaha i remember that movie he kinda does.

  • are there anyone can share me the tab?

  • wow that dude uses a pick and fingerstyle techniques at the same time!..

  • @duffieman123 yes, hybrid fingerpicking

  • when you write your own music, you can really feel it... you put all of your emotions into it, his faces are an example, i do the same... everyone does in their own way

  • Look at that self-expression pouring out of his guitar!

  • 0:46 - 0:50 just beautiful.

  • Jesus fucking Christ my heart is being pulled from my fucking chest

  • saying one musician is better than the others is like saying one flavor is better than the others...one color is better...so on ...so on...

  • What a great song (and a great album)! I met him today in Halfax, Canada. And he is a very nice fellow too.

  • Comment removed

  • look at this guy, thats not arrogance...thats passion!!!

  • The comments on technique and originality to me are totally amusing. Virtually all acoustic guitar techniques and runs since end of 19th century are at some level derivative. Question for me is whether this composition works at the level of beauty and integrity. For me, it does. What i think is undebatable is that this represents superior composition and technique than most songs today that sell millions. Keep on keepin' on, Jimmy.

  • dude you took my headache away :D

  • It was, I believe, Don Ross who first came up with the ring percussion trick in modern fingerstyle. Great tunes bro

  • So good...

    Great texture...

  • I think [I may be wrong] it is an Olsen, the same guitar that James Taylor and Phil Keaggy use.

  • Me parece fantástico escuchar esta guitarra,

estos dedos acariciando así la música, creo que me he enamorado.

  • does anyone know what kind of guitar that is? It is beautiful!

  • @maganashi why? just coz he don't slap the guitar and do things that a "show man" usually do?

It sounds awesome, shows what he feels and not just a song that he made to make him famous or a guitar hero.

  • @newryo it isn't that he isn't being a showman, or that the others mentioned are trying to be showy or a 'guitar hero' when they use legitimate acoustic guitar techniques. it's just that his music is less dynamic, which isn't a bad thing. it's just less interesting to some people.

  • @maganashi What did you say?

Sorry, I can't hear you over the sound of my cock in your mouth...

  • @tRaShGuTz ommmmmmhghguhghhhghommmmuhghgg

blegghhhh, Dude you had it in my mouth you asshole

  • @bronzehydra3 Thanks for the free insult =)

  • Wow, awesome playing, anyone know what kind of guitar he is using there?

  • What a fucking beautiful guitar.. <3

  • Wauw..

Very amazing, like all of Jimmy's songs, I wished I could play the song like him, though I'm still practicing!

Keep up the good work, I really enjoy listening to guitar like that

  • I love the guitar. Anyone know what it is?

  • A big piece of wood with 6 strings which can be picked with the fingers or a pick.

    ...just sayin'.

  • @Powapowago Or your teeth :D

  • @Powapowago or both :D

  • @Powapowago haha much more than thats so much more complex than a piece of wood with strings on dipshit

  • @Powapowago Or, as this video shows, both!!

  • @Powapowago Or, as this video shows, both!! And as an afterthought I feel I should point out that a "pick" is a actually called a plectrum when using technical jargon.

  • @Powapowago Beautiful isn't it?

  • tabs??????

  • nice manrik guitar!@@!

  • this is beautiful!!

  • Hello, I tried to play it, but the tuning

is difficult. It is really Db B A Db A Db ?

It is all tuned lower ? But very nice...

  • Would it make sense to tune it really low and then use a capo? I think he may have changed certain strings but not that much :D

  • Hey Jimmy, if you even read this, I know you wont.. but can you ever consider listening to a Pavement song (from Terror Twilight album) and creating your own original based on their pop/ punk sound... i would if i could.. but i can't so i wont haha ... just talkin to myself.. read on everyone.

  • It's a guitar by Sanden (srb size I think). Some kind of custom or limited edition model...

  • make an model ?

  • by far the most beautiful guitar i've ever seen, the music aint too shabby either.

  • Wonderful piece of music!

  • Anyone know the tuning for this song?

  • @nicolassoucy Low to high: C# A C# A B C#. Careful tuning the G to A...take it slow or the string will most likely break.

  • pretty cool song and some nice playing to boot. Not really sure if he pulled off the fast ditty at 1:51 but he kept rhythm so well it's tough to say.

  • @sachary he actually nailed the rhythm...it's three sixteenth triplets follwed by six sixteenth notes...I'm still trying to clean it up myself..haha!

  • I'm still not so sure. I'm sure he keeps the beat, but it sounds like he added a beat or two to the meter, depending on how you count it... It just sounds like the balance is off a little.

I start counting "1" at 1:43... (2,3,4) and again "1..." at 1:48, but after the little ditty, you might see what I mean. maybe I'm wrong!

AGAIN, I'm not saying he loses the beat (he's got his foot tapping it like a metronome), but it's as if he hiccupped a little and threw off the meter. no biggie.

  • @sachary Oh! I see what you mean. I thought you just meant tempo. The time meter does change from 4/4 to 6/4 around 1:52. Then back to 4/4 after the 6/4 measure. Good ear my friend.

  • @musicman754406 Yeah...... I don't think tha' man would be on Candyrat records if he was missing the beat!

  • Well, you can still count on with 4, he just puts the accent on different beats. So I think it's still a 4/4

t sounds weird but when you keep counting fours you end up at a perfect position. ..eventually ;)

  • Is that guitar made of teak?

  • He is like Jamie Cullum only than for the guitar

  • is it just me or is that guitar tiny

  • yeah i think so too. but it doesnt make this wonderful song worse

  • but have big skills ;)

  • @quarentine99 Ever heard Its not the size that counts, it's the motion of the ocean?

  • @quarentine99

    It shrunk in the wash.........

  • @quarentine99 That's the body style of the guitar.

  • @quarentine99 it's a parlor guitar. It's meant to be tiny but be very pure and pack a huge punch.

  • beautiful music! nice playing to!

  • If I could play even half as well as that, I'd be a happy man!

    Really awsome stuff.

  • you are a true technical genius.I think I will burn all of my guitars and maybe come over to your house to shake your hand and break three of your fingers.just kidding man,you are phenominal.

  • Out of all the Candyrat artists I really like Jimmy Wahlsteen and Antoine Dufour the most. They focus more on playing their guitars as opposed to percussive slapping. Not that I don't enjoy that as well, but I just think these guys have found the best way to combine simplicity and undeniable skill.

  • this is music right from the heart.

why try to be like other people, when you can just be yourself? - Peace!

  • ... and I enjoy it.

  • uuhm because he just wanted to play it in a higher pitch..?

  • so he can play in a certain key and play open strings, as often done in finger style guitar.

  • that makes no sense!!! If classical virtuoso John Williams used capo's why not this guy !!

  • Oh yeah, you're right. He should just grow an extra finger or appendage to bar down that fourth fret while playing his intricate piece at the higher frets. :P

  • Comment removed

  • play even better, if you can!!! you unhuman thing!!!

  • @feline1973 ... thats just stupid

  • The "Movie Saver" cant download Jimmy Wahlsteen - Tranquility as a mp3 file. it only downloads it as a MS - Dos file.

    Whats the problem...?

  • Hey folks. Enjoy the music or don't. We don't need to compare apples to oranges all the time. It's not a competition. Jimmy, Tommy, Andy, Ewan...they're all fine musicians.

  • @gobyfishmusic

    I agree, all fine musicians.

This is the beginning of a new age of music.

    We want more!

  • @maganashi if they were all the same, then why listen to music at all? they all have different styles that appeals to different people and that is great

  • hi. can anybody tell me on what an guitar jimmy is playing? i tried to find out the brand yet bout i couldn´t. can anyone help me?

    thx

  • I think, he's good at it, but... He's not the best.

If you want to see something incrediable, listen to Tommy Emmanuel!

sorry for my English, I am just started to learning it only one year ago... )))

  • Your English is fine, small errors, but it's fine.

  • Tommy Emmanuel is amazing.. true

  • Who cares who is the best or not ?

I also love Tommy Emmanuel but it's a shame to always compare people ... just be yourself.

  • I agree, in my opinion, Tommy is the best accoustic player there is out there... but it's a little unfair to compare Tommy, a 54 year old guitarist who's been playing his whole life, to this newcomer in his mid-20's or so :P

  • Wow, I just discovered this guy. He is truly astonishing. I would give my left testicle to play like this. Possibly even the right one.:-)

  • @Nigelxman LOL (:

  • why see his face? just feel

  • Pssssssssst....rpoland. I think its time to disable all your comment system. O_O

  • This is one amazing player. A unique artiste'

  • So, would he be amazing if you only heard his CD and didn't see a video?

What gives you the impression he's arrogant?

  • That's not arrogance. This song takes him away to a place only he knows, and that's what your seeing on his face.

  • @MrGameposter lol.. no.. he just saw someone else doing it and decided to copy.. over the years it got out of hand until he moves around like a bell end lol.. but dont get me wrong, as much as i hate this guy, his music is definately good.. plus he brings something new to candyrat with his plectrum picking style..

  • @MrGameposter and you have no idea what your talking about :D

  • @amchris66 You already said that you hated Jimmy, what else do you want from him? It's sad to judge his character when he hasn't said a single word and it's not arrogant to like the music you write.

  • @amchris66 and your a bitchy youtube troll

  • @amchris66 lol you have no idea what you're talking about... you said plectrum picking... which in itself ifs an oxymoron... Plectra are anything used for plucking strings, the proper name for his picking style is Hybrid Picking.

  • @MrGameposter

    Nicely said !!!!

Jimmy is far from arrogant. I started chatting with him a while ago via one of his youtube clips, sent him my myspace Didgeridoo tracks etc..

Lovely bloke !!! and in fact, very humble !!

    AND... Extremely talented !!

  • @SONGSTICKS Really? U chatted with him? fantastic!

  • @MrFantasioSpirou

    Hi... Yeah.

It was a while ago now, really nice bloke.

I expressed an interest to play Didgeridoo on one of his tracks and he seemed quite interested, so I posted him my "myspace" link to listen to my Didge stuff.

Nothings come of it yet, but hey..you never know.

  • @SONGSTICKS I love his smile at the end of the song. Is he European?

  • @MrFantasioSpirou

    Swedish I believe.

Have you seen the video on the train? Clever bit of film editing that.

  • @SONGSTICKS Yeah I did. Let's imagine there r 4 or 5 versions of us play at the same time, funny.

  • what gives you the impression that he's arrogant?

just because he's smiling when he plays at some parts and concentrating on others makes him arrogant?

i'm not intending on flaming you or anything just want to know what could give you the impression that he's arrogant?

  • piss off with your preconceptions about what this guy thinks... u need to get over yourself

  • all of you ignorant people who think he's gay just because he schools your ass in guitar, why do you sit and watch and get flamed by all the people who hate you, which, let me tell you, is everyone? Is it because you are a troll, and feed off of rage? or are you gay yourself, and like getting bumfucked by strangers on the internet?

If you like good music, join us. If not, i'm going to have to ask you to GTFO and take your FAIL with you.

  • @alextrajanodelima

People like you make me laugh so hard

All you can do is call other people gay because you don't have another guy whos gay like you. You just keep on wishing tho, maybe someday you'll find someone whos right for you.

  • i love the look of that guitar i want one like that

  • your just jealous you cant play like that. this song is awesome

  • @guijaredtar

    jealous??

    gay

  • fuck of

    alextrajanodelima

  • @RyanJosepT

    *O*

    you are so bad

  • @alextrajanodelima lololololololololololololololololololololol

  • it does sound really great, but it would sound better if he added some dead bass notes. he could add a dead a on the sixth string.. and the other bass notes around the bridge could be done like that too. just my opinion , so dont get mad.
