I think it is a good thing that geely bought Volvo. They know have fresh money to spend on new projects and believe me the chinese are not that silly to wreck Volvo. As geely executives said everything at Volvo will be in the hand of Volvo Sweden and not geely...
i saw the new s60 in the flesh yesterday it looks better in the metal than on a photo its an awesome car that deserves enough power to take on the germans what a cool car
The first NA S60 will have a T6 engine, 300HP roughly. And like most T engines for Volvo almost no turbo lag...all low end acceleration.
There is no S60R planned yet, but Volvo execs are talking about it...and it being 400HP or more.
Get excited.
And yes, stop with the silly Chinese comments, the cars will still be designed in Sweden and built in Sweden and Belgium....only Asia will get Chinese built cars.
@AdrianC12345 My father is one of the chief engineers at volvo. From his point of view, Geely might have been Volvo's rescue. Ford was pumping money out of Volvo even when Volvo went great, whilst Geely is pumping money into Volvo. They're just planning on making the Chinese Market just as big as the world wide market for Volvo. They're not gonna cancel Volvo in Gothenburg, but they are putting a fresh team in the chinese market.
@wellerocks I know, what does your father think of how the owner wants to make an S-Class competetor?? Or how he also wants to make Volvo's interiors more upscale?? I think both ideas are excellent but the head of design wants to wait until 2020, bust...
@Romandiesel The T6 is more refined, and you can gat more power out of it. Most people including me were a bit dissapointed in Volvo choosing to make T5s. They weren't bad though.
@PerChr86 If you design an engine right you won't get turbo lag. The only thing I don't like about super chargers is that they don't work in higher rpms. And they use some of the engine's power.

that's your problem, a turbo just gives you lots of turbolag before it kicks in, with a supercharger you would get away from the cops a lot faster :p
