youd be surprised how many departments actually have the fire fighters mask up. Its just one thing less, once hes at the door and pulled a line just snap in n turn the bottle on. My preference is masking at the door i only mask in the truck for car fires
im about 45 min south of Mannasas, i am hoping to get hired there for full time! i hope i do! its my dream to work there and be a fire fighter just like my dad, just got my fire 12 hazmat ops and awareness along with mayday awareness, cant wait to vol soon! XD wish me luck and BAD ASS VIDEO! 5 thumbs up on my book :-)
Being a Volunteer Firefighter myself I know the tragedy of these accidents but at 1:43 is it meant to be ironic because it's a hearse? I lol-ed at the irony.
but you dont have your full vision most of the time when your in your scott mast which could make pulling a line or connecting to a hydrant a bit harder if its a hazardous or chemical fire i can see it happening but not at a regular house fire
can be easyer then a scene, if its on and all the sudden you go from no danger to inhalation hazard it takes no time to go on air. versus haveing to pack up. how it was explained to us in our ff1 class makes sense to.
It so when you get there you can get past the first due company and put there fire out. The same reason they ran up the driveway. Thats the way the majority of the aggressive companys in our area do it.
it same in the city i work for im 16 and they call us cadets. but when we turn 18 they pay for our schooling and when we done with our classes we have a spot on the dept.
man. that kid shaffer is lucky. where i live (pennsylvania) you have to be 18 to go to a fire of any kind and accidents. that kid is lucky. i want to be a jouner firefighter but i cant. lots of my family members are but i cant.
love the video! however not so much that dumass that you guys almost hit! the people we have to deal with no these days! WOW 124 runs for 2 weeks?? that busy? How many workers do you guys have? also How many calls per shift on average? And what program did you use for editing?
Manassas (the site of a famous civl war battle) is about 30 miles due west of Washington, DC if you travel out on I-66. 30 years ago it was a sleepy little farming town but with suburban sprawl, it is now on the edge of the DC metro area and is a major commuter 'bedroom community' with the new housing developments you see in their videos, and tons of shopping and industrial areas. BTW, the pickup did have the green light and there was a building on the corner blocking the view, can't fault him!
This kid has no idea how lucky he has it. I'm 17 and I'm dying to become a FF but there are no opportunities for ppl my age in my area :(

Can anyone tell me how big is Manassas (population) and the amount of runs they get each year? Is it an all volunteer dept.? Thanks
piperdowns 2 years ago
They went career with Vol. help in 2008. They run a ton of calls. The city is about 35,000 just outside of DC.

Also The 30 Fire alarms, does that mean automatic fire alarm, false alarm or both?
