I was out in the clubs for this music back in the late 80's and early 90's. Sound Factory/NYC, Roxy /NYC, Trocadero/Philly, etc. At this point in time, AIDS was really ravaging the gay community - the first wave of people were dying and there was no medicine to stop it. So to be out dancing, during a time of great pain, was very, very meaningful to us. I remember seeing people vanish from the clubs over the months, knowing I'd never see them again. This music bound us together in a major way.
There are actually a lot of young people interested in this music, the history of it, it's evolution and the continuation of dance and electronic music at large. I used to go to the parties in Detroit (my hometown) back in the late 90's...I thought it was all over after 2002 or so.... WRONG!!!! I have lived in Seattle for the past 5years and there is a very strong, thriving underground electronic music scene here...it's about the music, not about some clubbin BS... it is ALIVE
yeah, music then was more original. note to the children your "stars" of today sample EVERYTHING from the past. Nothing original. OK? Oh it is different today, people talk over rhythm, beats and rhyme no singing.
All the old folks banging on about how good it was back then and how crap it is now! Shut the fuck up! You just sound really old saying that shit....jealous of youth.
Times have changed we have more than you had then. Its progression. There is so much good music around at the moment. People are not searching hard enough.
Stop looking at the past with rose tinted glasses.
respect to his tune its AWESOME however. And stuff from then is influencing people now big time.
@hundhun17 Its nothing to do with being jealous of youth, its how the scene has changed for the worse.
Its funny talking with the new generation of kids who "are into house," but have no idea who Frankie Knuckles, Masters at Work, etc are. The scene is SO full of attitude now, full of silly gimmicks, Djs getting payed to play on ableton, tons of politics behind everything.
Just because there is more now it does not mean its better. I can go through hundreds of mp3s each week and only buy 3-4
@redubd I'm 17 and I know who both of those artists are. Not very well, but I'm getting there. I'm studying the history of DJ's and it's quite interesting to read about Ron Hardy, Little Louie Vega, etc. There's still hope for the new generations I'm sure :)
what the fuck did that guy say!(comment removed) luv the vitriol that comes off these comments, but can't handle ignorance!!! its all 'bout the tunes and this is a CLASSIC from a bygone and much loved era! HOUSE ALL NIGHT LONG!!!

Choooooooooooon. Thanks for this, had completely forgotten this track then stumbled upon it right now. And having read some of the comments I would just like to add that this type of music was made to make people happy and uplifting, with or without drugs. Seems like all the crap today is just designed to make people envy or fuck each other.
Daref2006 - you're a muppet - today's clubs are full of people taking too much of the wrong kind of drugs....crazed manic nightmare idiots on crystal meth and people collapsing on ghb - we never needed ambulance services back in the good days - nowadays the chill out rooms are like a+e departments.

wtf!! you talk about things which long gone, you never'll get your "good years" back. hahahah im just 21, ALL doors are open for me , im just thinking of you 40-50 year old infront of your computer hahahahaah <--- this makes me laugh hard like the beat from the song
@harbordman I'm 21 also but some people like that mug just need to grow up and respect real music where time and effort has gone into a track and has more of a significant meaning, age is of no conselation here, people should just chill out and appreciate the music, look at the times we live in, it justifies the music that is made which is absolutely sh*t, this is more of my dad's era but i grew up with so many inspirational acts that you can't help but love this music, pce.
@Daref2006 Thinking of the watered-down, bland, predictable and flat music/media scene you have grown up in makes me laugh. @Daref2006@21 people like us werent at the computer we were livin in the real world, we had our good years and continue to, we saw the birth of dance music, from the early blackburn raves to the hac, take a step back my friend and listen, music evolves and what u listen to is a sample from the past. we lived it!! u call us from sittin infront of a computer... ur 21 u fuckin looser an sittin infront of it!!!!
this track is powerful, you can feel the emotion, the melody is put together nicely, the piano being played over a sub low base line with the saxophone makes this is a old skool classic to remember. It's ashame music nowadays doesn't have much passion in it but there's no need to dwell on that, it's good that we remember the real music and where everything started, everyone show their appreciation, pce : )
we were the fortunate ones!!! the Old Skoolers who were in THE HOUSE for the whole 90's massive movement known as HOUSE and TECHNO and the RAVE SUBCULTURE!! We rocked out, went bonkers, and got down as ONE all vibing to the music! 5 starz for posting these traxx, taking us back!!

Hey old skoolers, Victor just put BassLine Records on Traxsource. The full back cat is coming to :) and this track is the first one he put up. Go get it :)
@traxsource Yeah guys-great selection-never off my IPod.
This tune is pure class. One of my all time favourites.
The music just take's you on a journey, hard to explain, makes me special, but sad for the days we had dancing all night to tune after tune, not wanting it to stop.
An all time classic. Easy makes my top 5 dance records. Yep very true. Never any fighting. If someone bumped into you they apologised! No matter what town or city you went there was no trouble.
There are still opportunities mate. There'l always be an alternative to pop crap. You just have to look in the right places. Boards of Canada are are an electronic favorite of mine. Dont be put off by the name. Check out Dayvan cowboy bud. Kev
Back when we just danced, no fussing or fighting...it was about the MUSIC. It didnt matter who was with who, or what they wore....it was about the beats. As long as we had a good DJ...the room rocked. I feel bad for the younger ones today..they dont have the foundations of house music like we had, and 2...most of whats coming out is sampled to death, or just plain shit. Most of them, are fighting, posers, or not there for the music. I feel So sad for this generation.
@harbordman I am not of the original House generation, but came just after (born 1980). I agree that music is not now used as music should be. It's all about brand and attitude. However, I play souful and uplifting house at a local bar and 99% of people love it. They just don't know they love it until they hear it.
Keep the true house feeling alive my friends. It will never die.
@mickey606 I couldn't agree more! so glad I was part of the good times. I used to turn up in whatever clothes (i'm female) and not give a shit about what I looked like! just there for the tunes. Love it x
@mickey606 if you look for it there's still good house music around, it's just not mainstream or played to death to be honest if you look and desire good music you'll get it just people are force fed a load of shit and remain ignorant to the fact there is actually good electronic music out there (and i'm not talking about this shitty dubstep either).
@mickey606 Know that there is a whole wave of us that appreciate this music for what its worth! Im 25 and my biggest passion in life is music. That is music of such labels as Shelter Records, Strictly Rhythm, Nervous Records.. Artists like Kerri Chandler, Rags, Classic Man.. This is music with soul.. You can hear that artists like Kerri wish to express something true with his music!
@mickey606 Couse you are at your middle age and cant throw a party that dosent meen that "this generation" sucks ..you stand back of your pc and cry remembering the old days ....
Im just going to smile at your comment.."most of them are fighting....." in your case **trying** to start a fight. I will advise you...people over 30..can and DO hold some of the best parties ever. We were the generation with "basement" parties.."garage" parties. Like Pitbull sings "40 is the new 30" my friend... Much respect and love for THIS generation....btw-62 people think I wasnt talking out my ass. Keep smiling. I am :)
this is the original version according to my collection. mixed and produced by victor simonelli - ny's finest.
dj duke had nothing to do with this.
though in my collection i do have a remix that dj duke did of this 5 years or so after it's original release. dj dukes remix is not very musical though. i found all the versions (wav and mp3s) on the vjsinc website in the bassline records category.
I just remember reading the vinyl label on a friends record some years ago and the title said DJ Duke, NY's Finest - all good though - we agree on the important thing - it's a phat tune!
if you keep on listening to tis kind of music..you can never sleep but dancing all the night through..oOOH YEAH!

@Ibithailoveu
I am :)

this is the original version according to my collection. mixed and produced by victor simonelli - ny's finest.
dj duke had nothing to do with this.
though in my collection i do have a remix that dj duke did of this 5 years or so after it's original release. dj dukes remix is not very musical though. i found all the versions (wav and mp3s) on the vjsinc website in the bassline records category.

oh - okay...
I just remember reading the vinyl label on a friends record some years ago and the title said DJ Duke, NY's Finest - all good though - we agree on the important thing - it's a phat tune!
