And we know the early generations are the rightly guided. And Imam Malik who was the first of the 4 main scholars, mentions it as if it's common practice amongst women and men. I found a website with some muslim sisters who were really upset about it being mandatory in the eyes of some, they had some interesting arguements and hadith to support that it's not even reccommended. I haven't found any 100% authentic hadith saying it's mandatory myself..

To clear it up for you there is no statement in any authentic hadith, or the Quran that says women get circumcised as far as i'm aware, there is one really weak hadith which is not enough. It's a cultural thing mainly in Africa.
BTW i don't mind the fitting in, i mind the changing to fit in. I was born in U.K and live a Muslim lifestyle and fit right in but if i was asked to change my beliefs lol i wouldn't be to happy.

The "so called and disputed" Islamic circumcision for women is not the same as done in Africa, It's called a hoodectomy where the "clit hood" is removed and this is easier for the women to keep clean in countries where there is no running water and they gain more sexual stimulation. On the other hand the mutilation you talk about is not Islamic, they actually remove the clit astagfirullah.
Either way my personal stand on this is that its the womans decision, so you shouldn't meddle with it as it's none of your business.. to be honest if I had a wife, she shouldn't get it done, since I can't make sense of it and its almost not practiced by anyone. I actually question whether the hadith speaking of circumsition for women in general are authentic,I'm gonna look into that later because I don't see that much logic in it. We as men have more desire than women..
@TheAriiiiii Also keep in mind that as it was a cultural custom in arabia to do this, our prophet pbuh wasn't the one who brought this idea to islam.. like with many other cultural things our prophet pbuh didn't prohibit it instantly, like slavery, and before muhammed(pbuh) alcohol, etc. The hadith i found suggests that he tried to regulate it a bit so it didn't get out of control.. but nowhere can I find any hadeeth saying it's mandatory.
@wretchedyo There is hadith on circumcision and it does not refer to a man or a woman. And Imam Shafi has declared it mandatory for men and women to get done, i have only started to study about this and am learning as i go along but there is definitely a few sahih hadiths on the subject.

Several other hadith support that it's just a thing they can do if they wish.. nothing more.

To my understanding the 4 main scholars (regarding women) Shafi say's it's obligatory, Malik say's it's highly recommended, Humble say's it's highly recommended and Hanifi say's it's recommended.
2 week hadiths ( (Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 41, Number 5251) & (Reported by Abu Dawud in al-Sunan, Kitab al-Adab; he said this hadith is da‘if).

And we know the early generations are the rightly guided. And Imam Malik who was the first of the 4 main scholars, mentions it as if it's common practice amongst women and men. I found a website with some muslim sisters who were really upset about it being mandatory in the eyes of some, they had some interesting arguements and hadith to support that it's not even reccommended. I haven't found any 100% authentic hadith saying it's mandatory myself..

To clear it up for you there is no statement in any authentic hadith, or the Quran that says women get circumcised as far as i'm aware, there is one really weak hadith which is not enough. It's a cultural thing mainly in Africa.
BTW i don't mind the fitting in, i mind the changing to fit in. I was born in U.K and live a Muslim lifestyle and fit right in but if i was asked to change my beliefs lol i wouldn't be to happy.

@TheAriiiiii Also keep in mind that as it was a cultural custom in arabia to do this, our prophet pbuh wasn't the one who brought this idea to islam.. like with many other cultural things our prophet pbuh didn't prohibit it instantly, like slavery, and before muhammed(pbuh) alcohol, etc. The hadith i found suggests that he tried to regulate it a bit so it didn't get out of control.. but nowhere can I find any hadeeth saying it's mandatory.
