A folded dipole (300 ohm twinlead) antenna might help increase your receive range a little.
As far as the ham frequency tuning ranges, try 7-21.450Mcs during the day.
and 1.8 to 4.0Mcs at night. Around here, there are LOADS of amateur radio ops on fro 3.7 to 4.0mcs every night.
Also, there is a world wide morse code (CW) contest in full swing this weekend. I have heard MANY stations from all over the world. Including a few activated islands.
@jstrunck back in the Marine corp days I cross trained with the Navy and learn flashing light morse code. I've forgotten it all now but for the heck of it I googled and found some neat interactive morse code websites where what ever you type into the box it will beep back at you either slow or fast per user settings. Should make for quick memory recall if I decide to go that route.
Thanks, what was total confusion became blatantly obvious after watching your video in regards to dial calibrations and searching the bands. I'm going to have to do something with the antenna I think because I havn't been able to pick up any hams. I get commercial AM great in the .54-1.6 range, also radio china, russia etc. on the next higher ranges but I can't hear any hams other then morse code in the 10-30 range.

By the way, the red bands on the dial are indicators where sortwave stations may be found. I forgot to mention this in the vid.
Do you copy CW?
