  • Terrible version of a perfectly beautiful song! The echo effect thing is like a song for dummies who can't get things the first time. All we need added to this is subtitles!

  • @skipnie52 - erm, sir, you should watch your tabs better, don't know which song this comment was meant for, but you've posted it to the wrong video lol

  • @skipnie52

when you say "terrible" do you actually mean "amazing"?

    And if not, you should!

  • Thats my uncle not kidding

  • So... 2 persons have an urgent need to buy a heart and a soul.

  • Aright sure whatever.... great song anyway.

  • I heard it today on a radio, then searched on the net...and I found it!! Love every bit of it

  • Hi!

I never thought that I would hear music like this. Discovering this song has surely been a blessing to me.

    Thank you!

  • Could somebody post the elizabethan version of this that she recorded I can't find it any where!!!!!!

  • Thank you thank you thank you for this.

This is amazing. It is so much better than all other versions that everyone else sounds shrill, empty or amateurish. Nina Simone was an extraordinary musician, and she recorded this song long before it became popular in the New Age Celtic set (who erroneously imagine that the song is Irish -- it's from Appalachia ! )

Has there every been anyone more fabulous than Nina Simone?

  • Emile Latimer sings this, even though I guess it's arranged by Nina. But half of the amazing about this song is Emiles voice.

  • And no, she was quite unique ;)

  • Well the song is Irish. It belongs to Christy Moor. But this is a great version no doubt. Nina sang it in a couple of different tempos, you should check it out.

  • @thesetup85 no it's most likely Scottish.

  • Actually it is from lowland Scotland, it got taken to America by the Scots-Irish.

  • I bought this record used from a thrift store...later that day it was this song that made me run back in the room and find out what song it was - thanks for posting

  • this is definitely one of the greatest songs that i have ever heard

  • this very version? :) I thought hardly anyone heard of it

  • Yeah, this very version!

  • This version. All other version aren't even close.

It is unbeliveable that this song doesn't have a clear 5/5. Brilliant song.
