I remember this on former Richmond (VA) radio station - WVGO 106.5 back in the early 90s until it became 106.5 The Buzz. and then went to WBTJ.

Used to have some damned good stations in Richmond that really played music for their listening audiences and actually took requests until the "corporate empire" took over and everthing SUCKS!

Those born in the 70's probably like the 90's better, Kids today go for Rap crap all about guns,drugs,killing etc.

I have always loved that music which had captured spirit of those faded times when music was actually more than just sound. it all had a meaning and a message, and yet, every time you'd listen to same song, you'd get something new from it...

@Thewizard22uk I like this song and I'm 40, but there are still a number of modern day artists whom I really like such as P!nk, Mika, Duffy, Scissor Sisters, McFly, Robbie Williams, Take That, and Susan Boyle. The problem is that a lot of music that gets pushed into the top 40 today is homogenised and manufactured and only targeted to philistines - up until the late 80's the top 40 was a lot more democratic.

this isnt highlighting the differences between lovers and friends, its a woman trying to cling onto a relationship using the 'lets be jus friends' line, like you do, it's her persuading HERSELF they can be just friends but then her anger is apparent in the lines, 'you don't even care with what I'm saying'... so she starts off good then shows its not a good idea by losing it :P
