  • hes full of shit not a physisyts asshole

  • space elevators like the gundam shit

  • Anyone else find it ironic that there is a kung fu panda behing the good japanese doctor? :)

  • @itubenowplease what about 40mpy?

  • @itubenowplease How the hell did evolution get into this? And evolution doesn't have a set speed, his theory said only MAJOR upgrades take about a million years, minor such has bigger brain, getting faster, those take a few dozen thousand years. This kind of thing? Are you talking about the extinctions of bees in china? Extinctions don't happen every 12k years, its fully random. Haarp isn't taking the supercooled air down. The mag. grip weakening? Where did you hear it's weakening?

  • @itubenowplease Only Canada and US has bees becoming rare and China is the only known place where they're extinct.

  • If someone knocked on my door and said they were my Great great great great great great great grandson/daughter I would shut the door, I wouldn't want to risk the universe's collapse caused by a paradox just to meet him/her.

  • damn jimmy page is smart!

  • Dr. Michio Kaku is one of the most brilliant people alive at this time . on the planet IMHO.

  • I really enjoyed the video, thanks for sharing

  • Time travel already happens. When you crawl at 1mph time slows. When you go on a plane at 500mph time slows a little more. To have meaningful time travel, well that would require travelling at close to six hundred and sixty nine million mph.

  • @itubenowplease dude i see bumble bees like every day in aus

  • but then again every single thing we create starts in the mind as an idea

  • time to cash in on that tv-show of his, apparently(!)

  • awesome, already stuff I saw as a kid on sci-fi films is now possible

  • @naemasufi err... theories do not mean possibilities. you can imagine anything, but without the means to maked it reality - it's not possible.

  • @hcvang Just because it's an imagination doesn't make it a theory, an imagination can be anything, from pigs that breath out molten lava to dinosaurs eating a galaxy. A Theory is looked into quite a bit, they fix everything to make it seem as possible as possible (lol), but Theories usually end when a single impossibility hit the scene, but until an impossibility is found, it is a theory. If a theory is disproven, it is not imagination, it is a thought.

  • @Deliphin11 thats what i just said...

  • its like a bluetooth brain they should make a hologramme who can go into the computer and read emails and what ever you say to the hologramme she tells the other person

  • can someone inform about the "teleportation" mentioned by michio kaku? does this transfer faster than the speed of light, i.e. instantaneously? can it be used to transmit information? what is this process called?

  • "I've come across some very energetic people than"

LMFAO!!! That guy wins! When Mr. Kaku was talking about the brain using up a lot more energy when it lies, and the other guy (sorry don't know his name) said that. I had to fight to keep from rolling in my cubical laughing!

  • If only men like Michio Kaku will be the rulers of an United Earth

  • @GrayShark09 only broken men desire to be ruled.

  • I'd like to see as tarship built. XD

  • Yes... yes....professor....things like teleportation might be possible in near future...

But will we be able to live the life till that time?????? Mother Nature is getting worse than ever …..

Its pity that we people have no concerns towards her…...we always wish to make our life happier … we have no concerns about the thing that die to make us happy……

    A physics student…..

  • Ok, he was cool at first, but hes been saying almost exactly the same thing for 4 years now. Like almost word for word. I just heard him on Coast to Coast AM the other day, and he was talking about the same thing, with no updates.

  • I can't see how time travel backwards would be possible unless space records every second of everything and plants it somewhere. Although the prof here did'nt say that.

  • only a person from a 0 civilization would come up with the idea that there are 3 categories of civilization and put their own civilization at 0. what a darn shame! no wonder we at 0.

  • michael kaku seems crazy nice. totally random but just saying. i've never seen him mad even in a debate

  • hmm....

  • He's a theorist... -.-

  • Me and a friend found this gallery, and there is certainly some intensely insane looking things found on it. Have a look at it, just go to ufosecretXnet (replace X with . )

  • somesome should knock on his door asking for money because hes his great grandson from the future

  • that music at the begining was like bieng in africa

  • Just simply amazing how far we've come. Let's hope we make it all the way to type 3, we've made it to a point where we are our own worst threat, and can make it if we try.

If the teleported you is you and isn't you, who is it?

  • What has this got to do with how to make Cottage Pie?

  • @RossHardmanHarvey123 I like pie

  • @DeeDub02 No you don't, cunt.

  • people who say things can't be possible are the same people who use 2 say the earth was flat

  • perhaps people have traveled back to our time from the future but while being invisible. perhaps this explains ghost sightings.

  • But, scientists believe strongly that the universe contains ten dimensions, humans only currently knowing of four; length, width, volume and time. How can we make break-throughs without the knowledge of the six unknown dimensions?

  • When teleportation becomes accessible, will it be possible to teleport all the religion-adepts to Mars (or whatever available planet) so that they can preach to each other and kill each other off (proven theory: crusades for one) and leave the rest of humanity alone to work on science and progress?

  • that would be an interesting experiment. but i doubt there will be change.

  • @ngocnudang Good idea ;)

  • *You know vertical?

  • So many people complaining about Michio Kaku's repetition in his speeches. Well you try becoming an internationally recognized and celebrated theoretical physicists who travels around the world to summits, conferences and tv shows on a regular basis. Let's see whether you start repeating yourself or not. Heck even the funniest stand up comedians on earth use the same jokes over and over again. And they claim to be 'stand up' comedians, in reality its all pre-prepared. Learn some respect kids.

  • You know how vertical leap? How would you jump higher and windmill from 10 ft? Practice? Don't train kid! Vertical leap ain't genetics though.

  • @lendmeurears the thing about science is that when you have a theorie you want to use the simpelest way to explain it to others. so Dr. Kaku just keeps saying the same stuff so that everybody can understand. Also he cant just invent random shit to change his speech and stuff.

  • Oww, i just got a brain cramp.

  • well feroz0307, i believe you feel so strongly about that because your brain is so advanced. hahahaha

  • the closer we get to time travel the closer we get to interact with aliens. We will interact with other civilisations before we master time travel.

  • I'm not an expert. But if the light was 'bending' around the cylinder, then wouldn't you notice a slight shimmer outlining the cylinder or object? Like the effect you get when a black hole bends light and gravity around its entrance?

  • i have listen to many of his speech and they are pretty much the same.

  • This guy confuses me. I search for his religious views and I get some stuff claiming he's atheist, and here he is talking about souls. I think he's just using the term "soul" to differentiate between your actual self and an identical clone of yourself.

  • I believe its not a "soul" in religious terms as such he is refering to. But the life time experience. For example memories- how do you transport memories if you just reconstructing someone. And other behavoural entities such as kindness.

  • this guy has some great openminded idea's , but its to bad that he thinks people have a ''soul''. it really wouldn't matter accually. the act of telephortion, would be breaking down something and rebuilding it on a difrend place. in this case it doesn't really matter as long as every single atom gets back on the right place, meaning your brain, memory and such intact. theoreticly =p

  • I wonder how you people live you life, no offence, but do you honestly think that the feelings you feel everyday are mere chemical reactions? Does the love that your parents and friends give you are mere inherited instincts written down in molecules? Is there no meaning in life but to reproduce and continue the gene stream? I don't say I object what you say, but take a long look into your life till now and tell me are you a mere fabric wedged between space and time, or something more ALIVE...

  • Educate yourself plz....

  • but if you get a chip in your brain to use the internet wouldnt you also get viruses

  • they woud of make super antiviruses so no virus can damage us,

  • i have herpes...

  • lol the chip in his brain wasent conected to the internet it was only conected to the mouse cursor ;)

  • time travel is better left undiscovered. humankind would just fuck everything up as is their nature.

  • Sins of a Solar Empire!!

  • where can i get his book? could it be at borders?

  • 98% of all the atoms in ur body are replaced daily

  • thats gotta be a lie, why does it take more than 1 day to decompose?

  • they are replaced with new ones by the food we eat and air we breath

its not the fact that they are "broken" its just they are removed to make room for new ones

it takes more to decompose b/c the atoms are stuck in the cells when we die

and are not let out until they are eaten by other creatures

  • ah i see

  • bull %^&*. Eating replenishes cells that die. otherwise we would need to eat 98% of our weight in food every day... Things like bones and nerves are NOT replaced ever usually.

  • most of ur body is water

    which is made of h20

    u breath oxygen

and u get hydrogen from light

  • Haha, and is that suppose to prove you replace 98% of the atoms in your body daily? Keep trying.

  • Well its good to know its somewwhere makin music......

  • wow, finally an interview of Dr. Michio Kaku where the host asks mostly interesting or smart questions :D

  • Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator is the sequel to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

The Space Elevator idea reminds me of Wonka's Elevator.... Wikipedia tells the plot of the story.

  • YEAH WHAT HAPPENS TO YOUR SOUL ?

  • This guy comes off sounding about 1/4 bullshit at times, it's pretty interesting though.

  • Looks like he's coming direct from the set of The Fifth Element.

  • Haha

  • ooh i love this stuff. so exciting

  • I was really surprised when he said "telepathy". Aliens are said to use telepathy according to eye witnesses. I believe its possible anyway.

  • Nothing but respect for Michio.

  • The analogy with the plane doesn't hold. The plane was basically a technical achievement, whereby time travel is still in the realm of wild speculation.

And BTW my car still run on gasoline. This is 19th century technology. Our technology is basically upgraded 19th century. Time travel, if is possible, is far far faaaaar away in the future.

  • 9:15 that's a question I've always wondered about teleportation myself.

Also does anyone know the name of the man he mentioned that was able to operate a computer with his mind? I'd really like to read more about that.

  • I really like listening to Dr. Kaku but he reuses phrases over and over. He's used "Harry Potter, watch out!" in about five separate interviews I've seen so far. He is still very interesting to listen to though.

  • Lol i get what you mean .....But I think he's using laymans term so people can relay to what ever he's talking about....Sciene can become stale and technical....But he's refering to pop culture just to break it down......lol

  • Time travel may be a class 3 impossibility; the jury is still out on that one. AFAIK most physicists believe that time travel to the past is impossible.

  • why is it that when they talk about imposobilities in physics they always mention movies

  • just something to relate to i guess...

  • have you allready seen the mind controled toy? teleport was done but with a proton or light photon i believe...

  • science fiction often become's science fact !

  • Our civilization is a BIG ZERO. Time to become #1 ASAP. Dr. Kaku is awesome.

  • Yes, we're type ZIP, ZERO, NADA lol

  • I totally agree. I wish the rest of the world would realize this. I hope to contribute to the process though :)

  • With time everything is possible.

  • You're a fool.

Visible light doesn't pass through us, but that is just a tiny fraction of the entire spectrum. There are however many forms of light that pass through us.

  • Wtf Michio... soul?

    H4X !!!

  • he reminds me of proffessor howell. The reporting is too fast, when does one digest the info. Its obvious people will sit around like jaba, hoping they can just pay for a new reality.People dont even know what reality is,or they could control their dreams.

  • sadly enough we will be a class 0 civilization as long as we have religions that preach that science is evil and keep humanity ignorant with childish superstitious beliefs

  • "science don't care about religion"

why would it? religion is silly

  • hahaha your a moron. How can you not see your own mistake.

  • "How can you not see your own mistake. "

I can totally see YOUR mistake

  • of course.

  • couldn't have put it better!!

  • @GodKillerAtheist couldnt agree more

  • @GodKillerAtheist well said, religion was only Invented! to keep public order.

  • @GodKillerAtheist I love you.

  • @GodKillerAtheist agree but, that is a very narrow minded view, you also have to take into account emotions about such subjects, emotions like the ones you describe but also the emotions that you show, intensity of passion needs to die as well as many other aspects of our civilization. People have to be free thinking(choosing)but all look desire a common goal which is for the good of the civilization. religion holds this back but so does alot of things including "human rights" & individuality

  • @TIKIHEAD01 "intensity of passion needs to die as well" I don't agree with that. Many people have passions for their work and for their goals. Perhaps you're talking of a lustful sexual passion of a jealous nature?

"religion holds this back but so does alot of things including "human rights" & individuality" well with no human rights and no individuality we really wouldn't be human..

  • @GodKillerAtheist exactly, we wouldnt be human, we would be like the cells of a single entity (the civilization). as far as passion im thinking more of personal pride, an example would be like for your local sports team, or pride for your race, basically any feelings that will make you despise or resent another person, or put yourself in a better light than another. total equality would be the outcome.

  • @TIKIHEAD01 "we would be like the cells of a single entity "

I believe in a conservative form of anarchy. Each individual intelligent enough to self governing respectfully towards one another. No laws No consequences because each would be working to improve Society and quality of life.

"im thinking more of personal pride, an example would be like / pride for your race" Pride can be a good trait but proud for something you didn't accomplish like selecting your genotype is moronic.

  • Who said about going to the sun? He said harness "the power" of the Sun. Yes I might be a nerd but I'm not a retard.

  • "We cant go to the sun never ever that is a fact"

No that is a hypothesis not a fact.

  • agreed!

things we take for granted now seemed impossible to people really far back

thus things that people can easily do in the future would seem impossible to us!

  • No, what he meant was that we can never go to the... if we want to live. lol

  • Physics + Philosophy + History = My life

  • take the history out and thats my life ;]

  • Thats great! :), do you have any particular philosopher or/and phycisist that influenced you?

In philosophy my masters are Schopenhauer, B. Russell, J. S. Mill and obviously Plato

In physics, well im not sure since physics used to be a branch of philosophy (natural philosophy) but I suppose is evident that Newton and einstein are impressive!

    Have a good day;)

  • that guy is freakin awesome......

    modern day einstien

  • I don't like the fact that emotions and brain activity can be monitored. I mean I am not one to be paranoid but imagine what terrorist groups or any other organization can do with this technology? With every good thing comes the bad as well it seems.

  • model/theory of what as been observed and not the thing itself. Unless a model is 100% accurate at all locations (time & space) and therefor becomes the universe itself, you can never know if the model has flaws or will need modifying or even replacing completely

  • Thanks for posting this up.

  • fuck you and your types////did you drink any stalynskaia before the show....

  • i read that time travel into the past is impossible, but time travel into the future is possible...

  • there is probably trillions of people who have touched this earth..(generations of families, people dying, etc.)if we could actually ever have time travel, we would be visited by the future. and since not one person that has been on this earth has had proof or anything, about seeing or showing someone or something from the future, i highly doubt this could exist.

  • Models are not facts, only theories.

you can find out more at probabilitymodeling

  • You can't state possible or impossible based upon SCIENCE. Science deals with probabilities, theories, models, do not confuse these with facts, which are only available in CURRENT EMPIRICAL EXPERIENCE. Memories will not do. Also as soon as you label an observation, you have started modeling.

  • One thing I'd like to make clear is that this idea of "class I, II, III" civilizations was originally the idea of Issac Asimov in his "Guide to Science" series of books. It's quite an older idea than probably most people of this generation realize.

  • i wish i could meet michio in person hes my idol...i might not have the academics to be a physicist but i have the imagination, intelect, and brightness it takes....he motivates everytime i hear him...everything he talks about is ABSOLUTLY MIND BOGGLING!!

  • I like this...cooperation, animated discussion. Good job, people.

  • did a search for michio kaku and planet X and all that 2012 stuff, thank god there's none..

  • he says the exact same lines like the harry potter thing in all of his interviews.

  • I love the guy, but i hate the fact that he used the word "soul", how he said where does our soul go? there is no soul.

  • Anyone who claims "impossible" when practicing scientific method is talking out of their ARSEHOLE! Scientific method does not and can not rule out future events as impossible. LEARN SOME SCIENCE!!!!! Science can show a hypothesis to be incorrect/inaccurate ONLY on events as they happen. SCIENCE BASICS!!!! this is why we deal in SCIENTIFIC THEORIES and not SCIENTIFIC FACTS!!! - go back to school.

  • Watch the vid and you will have the answer.

  • When you state that "nothing can be declared impossible" you are making the mistake of an approach called "empiricism-positivism". Indeed, if *nothing* can be declared true or untrue with certainty, what will you say to the man who declares "I exist"? It is fallacious and self-contradictory to reject axiomatic statements.

  • No mistake made. Call it what you like. I never claimed *nothing* can be declared true or untrue. (You are mistaking your idea of "empiricism-positivism" for what I have claimed). I claim as true my CURRENT SUBJECTIVE EXPERIENCE and all else is part of my probability model. Do not confuse axioms for the phenomena they try to describe. This tends to happen when people elevate (forget) their probability model to a FACT.

  • I understand what you're saying. My main point was that some theories/ideas can simply be rejected outright (stated as impossible). I like what you said with regard to present vs. future events.

Claims/theories can be rejected outright on the basis of internal consistency. The claim that "in the future a person will time travel" is fallacious for a variety of reasons, whatever you call the criteria; philosophy, logic, the scientific method etc.

  • There is no theory that can rule out time travel. The reason for this is theories can not rule out anything. They can be used to estimate a very very low probability of an event occurring. Even some of the interpretations of quantum mechanics allow for time travel, for instance the many worlds interpretation (which follows the math) which has not been falsified and is used as a guide in quantum computation experiments. The theories of relativity do not strictly suggest time travel is impossible.

  • The idea that "nothing can be proven impossible" is entirely incorrect. This is an idea that stems from the fallacious method of "empiricism positivism". Google it.

  • I did not say you could not come to conclusions from observation. All I am saying is those conclusions are a model/theory of what as been observed and not the thing itself. Unless a model is 100% accurate at all locations (time & space) and therefor becomes the universe itself, you can never know if the model has flaws or will need modifying or even replacing completely. That is what we have to live with for models/theories, they can NEVER be claimed to be truth, facts or knowledge.

  • All I'm saying is that a theory/idea can be rejected outright without a single observation.

  • Remember Scientific Theories (and that includes so called laws) are bayesian probability networks and bayesian probability networks rely on estimated probabilities of greater than 0% and less than 100%. I'm afraid impossibility is not a claim that can be made from science and let's not here any more about empiricism positivism. Learn which tools to apply to which arguments! Nothing in science is ever proven, It can not, as science is a collection of models that we trust as useful, NOT FACTS.

  • In my experience, clear thinking is largely democratically unpopular.

  • For anyone who still believes time travel is possible, check the link in my profile.

  • Yes its possible.

  • Before you can state "X is possible" you have to say exactly what "X" is.

    So, what is time?

  • Time is the measurment taken when the object in motion is moving throuhg space relatively to another. Time is a subjective value of an objects possiton on trajectory displacement.

Didnt you go to elementary school?

    Also an encyclopedic definition:

Time is a component of a measuring system used to sequence events, to compare the durations of events and the intervals between them, and to quantify the motions of objec

  • "Time is the measurement..."

So time travel is translated as:

    "Movement through a measurement"

    Does that make any sense?

  • Dude if you dont have the capacity to understand what I said you better get your brain checked. I didnt say anything difficult. All I said is that time is a name of meausrment of motion. The same goes for distance, for the freaking whole physics. Also volts, also liters, also amplitude, also seconds and all other measurments. Measurment is measurment. Go and study the basics of phsics. You dont even know the difference between time and movement. How do you expect to understand this vid?

  • You insult my knowledge, yet you made a statement that, by your own definition, is nonsensical. Simply state a definition of time that makes the phrase "time travel" nonsensical. Simple.

Time is a measurement of successive locations, of which second is a chosen unit. Just like volt is a unit measure of potential, liter a unit measure of extent in three mutually orthogonal directions, and amplitude a measure of the magnitude of oscillation. Shall we volume, potential, or amplitude travel also?

  • I was talking about measurments in general OK?

Yes you cant travel the electricity, because thats a syntax error. I get it! But we are not talking about grammar, but about the physical world and measuring events in it. Relativity says that if you go about close to the speed of light you will see the world around you in a fastforward motion. Why do you argue about this obvious thing. We have tome, because our brain is able to process events in such way.

  • This is not an issue of grammar, but an issue of getting to the root of what time IS. You cite relativity as saying that you will SEE the world around you move differently at high speed. Is a difference in perception equal to reality? Is causality violated simply because an object moves fast? Or because causality *appears* to be violated? Which explanation for this observation is simpler, that our perception is wrong or that the universe is non-causal?

  • Let's consider relativity carefully. It places an observer at the center of inquiry, it is inherently a theory of observation and measurement. The mechanism of observation is the photon. It is absolutely true that, if an object moves at c, we will no longer observe it. This is perfectly logical, if what we are detecting is moving faster than what we are USING to detect, it is obviously undetectable. Does that mean it actually disappeared or shot off into an alternate dimension or "the future"?

  • if it is undetectible I cant tell you anything about it. But yes if it does move cloes to the speed of light the time of its own is different than the time of the objects not moving. That is the theory. It has been observed. It was observed for instance on space stations that rotate around the earth at incredible speeds. When they compared the atomic clocks in space and on our planet they realised there is split second missing on the space station.

  • In analyzing these experiments it is important to remember that time is only measured with reference to a standard, and this standard is *assumed* immutable. For instance, at one time it was assumed the earth circled the sun in a perfectly regular fashion, so all time was measured in fractions of earth rotations (from years to months to days, hours, minutes, and seconds). The standard was discarded because it was found that the earth does not return to the exact same location every "year".

  • Now they use an atomic clock, another *assumed* perfect standard. If the clocks appear to disagree then this is, first and foremost, an issue of the internal machinations of the atomic clock. Just as before discrepancies were an issue of the rotation of the earth. Nuclear decay is not perfectly understood by any means. The correct scientific question to resolve is, why does an atom decay differently at high velocity?

  • Search the Einstains 3main equations. The time dilation. Contraction of lenght. Relative change of mass. But for the record your not the only and first person to question the validity of atomic decay. The answer is high velocity makes the sub-atomic particles move at greater distance(greater velocity, greater distance covered in shorter time). The particles arrive in "later time" making the time dilatation, thus proving the theory of relativity.

  • So, then, time dilation is purely an artifact of measurement. Thank you, I think "time travel" can be put to rest then.

  • By the way, I have read all of Einstein's original work in addition to other scientists too numerous to name. I know the equations by heart, I am a trained physicist getting a Ph.D in chemical physics. I have arrived at my conclusions through research and subsequent thought and analysis. If one studies relativity objectively there can simply be no other conclusion than that it is a theory of *measurement* and *observation*.

  • This is so not cool! You know I had many people say the same thing you say now_:D

"I am a high school student and I know everything!" You can go and whipe your ass with that diploma. Maybe your employer thinks its cool, but not me. And if you really did read his work WTF is still your problem? Do you even know why he concluded what he concluded? I know Descartes said that doubt is the sign of thinking, but you are still tampering in the realm of wordplay, I am sorry to confirm.

  • Too many people discredit anyone who disagrees with mainstream claims if they have no credentials. I just don't want you to dismiss me out of hand, assuming I do not have the background, have not done the research, or simpl do not know what I'm talking about.

This is not wordplay. Time dilation cannot be interpreted as anything except a change in measurement. Time itself is a human measurement. You are unable to refute any of my statements.

  • Talk of "time travel" is a matter of reification of mathematical concepts. Measurement!=Reality. If I am counting photons from an object to measure time and I count 0 photons it is NOT because time stopped for the object, it is because my measurement is flawed. The measurement itself is not time, it is a human invention and inherently subjective. You may be interested to read about "empiricism-positivism".

  • loook dude! I dont know what your trying to prove. It has worked for other 100 000 scientists, it should work for you. The theory of relativity is almost 100 years old so if someone had a problem with the stuff it would eventually come up.

  • Plenty of people have problems with it, actually. Not with the quantitative results, obviously, but with the conceptual core and the physical interpretation. Google "A Rational Cosmology".
