  • Before he left my barracks room, he turned around and said, "here, you can have this one, it has an ace of spades on it". To this day, I have that coin and it is displayed in my shadowbox. What a great guy he was. RLTW

  • I have his 'Special Operations Commander Coin'. He gave it to me personally when I was in 1st Rgr Bn back in 1993. I was there from 1991-1996. He actually sat in my room drinking a beer with me, while his entourage sat outside my barracks room. I know he had many of those coins, but the funny part about that story was I coined him once he came in my room. He took my coin, and told me I owed him a beer. I then told him, open my fridge and there it is. He opened my fridge & took out 2 beers

  • Thank you for this video...Dad would have loved it.

  • GEN Downing was one hell of a Soldier, and one hell of a General! His influence was felt throughout the Army when I was still on Active Duty, and his death is a great loss to the Army and to our country....Good video!

  • Fantastic thank you so much.

  • Tributes such as these are true treasures for us all to grasp and remember we are who we are because of people like the GENERAL and all those that passed thru West Point

    thanks for the post.

    DUTY, HONOR, COUNTRY!
