I remember my sensei executing a well-placed upper cut to the solar plexis knocking the wind out of the other guy. People were wondering how he was able to do it despite the fact that the punch did not have much speed nor power behind it.
if anybody doubts that this actually hurts i can tell you from taking 8 years of kung-fu that this is not a joke, if you learn to set this up well you can put somebody down with a single punch every time
I dont understand the Solar Plex punch (the "coming in low"/ 45 degree angle one)... so does it not work when abs are flexxed or what? no one can do it to me, i cant do it to myself... been trying for awhile on myself, had my roommates try, just like in the video, havnt felt a thing...
@gekiryudojo guarantee you wouldnt be able top do it on my bro... there is absolutely no pressure point anywhere in that area, if there is, then my abs cover it up... and how come no one ever hits it in UFC fights??? lol
@MillerDecaXC because it will be hard to hit, because their reflexes are great;) and besides they wear gloves, which makes their hand bigger and makes it harder to hit and if it hits it won't be as painful as your naked hand
Woah dude, it totally works. I tapped my Solar Plexus with varying angles and it felt like nothing then at a 45 Degree angle and it impaired my breathing.
Hi Trevor, I find your videos very informative and enjoyable. In your torso strikes video you suggest hitting upwards at 45 degrees with the solar plexus strike however, in another video the teacher said all torso strikes should be downwards and towards the spine and sited boxers and their training of uppercutting to the solar plexus area. His rationale was to hit in and down because the uppecut can be tolerated. Is he wrong? Thanks for your feedback, Sam
@susanaandsam he is wrong the information I got on it was from a Medical professional, the diaphragm is what you are spamming and nothing will happen if you hit down, but he is right about hitting towards the spine you should do that but upwards
this is really excellent, it is a amazing video full of knowledge. systema seems like the best martial art even though i don't like picking a single art.
also the master is a great guy not like the other systema masters on youtube that shove fake knives in their student's eyes.
@david102994 thanks but That Master the one who shoves fake knives in their student's eye is Vladimir Vasiliev who is my teacher and the best Guy and Best Fighter I have ever met, the guy he was training with needed to realize he had lost and Vlad did not hurt him,
@ninjawarrior41 striking a guy that is overweight to the solar plexus is the same if he is overweight then he is most likely unfit in that area you hit high on the stomach where there is less fat even if they are over weight as for other points fat people bare a lot of weight on their legs so go for them
Strike to the solar plexes has full potencial only if your opponent has breathed air but if he breaths out just before you hit him the strike wont do even 1/3 of it's capacity...but in the street no one will try to control his breath (well i will do but...)so it is dangerous.
@papoose1223 it will help. but at the end of the day it is your diagram and you will get old one day! or out of condition the best thing is to avoid or block the incoming.or like in systema like I do learn to take it, I went to s boxing club a few years ago and had no trouble doubling boxers over with a gut punch they were surprised
There is a lot more to it than this, I can assure you, I don't need to even hit here to drop a guy, I am being soft here! about 5% of what I can do >:) getting volunteers is the problem! watch this with Thong (Kaisen crew ) and Kevin Secours
I know there's a lot to it than what's on the video. Practice and proper training is a must. The video instruction at least explained the basic concept of the punch to the solar plexus because i was doubtful of its power when i first saw it with the systema guys. Thanks and more power!
Systema has no set Techniques, more relaxed better Posture more concentration on breathing, no stances, no fixed positions intuitive, systema Goes with the movement more fluid no rehearsals Ever! what you See is not what you get, it is not meant to look like fighting, krava maga in comparison? there is none not from My point of view,
Houdini the escape artist died from a punch to the stomach, but I dont know if it was the solar plexus, Vladimir Vasiliev my teacher knocked me out. once with a hit to the solar plexus (I was trying it on with him! Lol) I never knew you could do that!
