Mike Bloomberg is a conman. Said he was for affordeble housing. Only luxury condos, luxury apartment buildings for the rich went up. Said he would support mass transit. Latest MTA crises no where to be found, did nothing to stop service cuts. Closed Fire houses, putting our safety at risk.
@gmcbuses There is no housing that is affordable to anyone. Mike supports housing that is affordable to most New Yorkers. $1,600/mo. just won't cut it in NYC. Why fool yourself?
@CloeBuckingham Not true it is the landlords that is the problem. Of course the goal is always to try to make more. Bush gave away almost all of our manufacturing base to China.
@CloeBuckingham You move!!!!. I"m staying in New York. This is not Communist China. Or Yougoslavia under Millosevich. Your evil. What you are trying to do is social ethnic cleansing.
@gmcbuses So your point is that you have a right to live off others in a City that is supported by others, because I can tell you that if everyone in NYC were earning $1,600/mo., you would not want to live there. "Cleveland had the lowest median income of any city in the nation with more than 250,000 residents; households there earned just $26,535." That is still higher than your income. You would not even be in the USA. You would be in some Third World hole.
@CloeBuckingham At least I have a job lady. Don"t put words in my mouth. I"m not living off others. I work Smuck. What in Sam Hill are you talking about. Your evil. The kids that picked on me in the internet cafe I should send them to you. Mike Bloomberg bought the election. There needs to be limits put on, that you cannot outspend your opponent by 25% of what ever they spend once past 8 million in each election. Technically running for office there is 2. General and primary.
@gmcbuses Good. Evil. Do you know who you sound like? George Bush. We just have different interests. I want to make New York City the greatest city on the planet. You want it frozen in time, like the crime-ridden, bankrupt hole it was in the 1970s. Good luck! You might get a few homeless people to vote your way.
Elections cannot be bought in the USA. Bloomberg campaigned, and the people voted. If you could buy an election, he would have won by a landslide. Don't underestimate New Yorkers.
Mike Bloomberg you are a disgrace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You flushed democracy right down the toilet. Denied us a referendum. Your the worst thing that has happened to this city.
@gmcbuses In what sense was democracy flushed down the toilet? Did Bloomberg stuff any ballots?! Why would anyone deny himself the opportunity to vote for (or against) the greatest mayor our city has ever had?
@CloeBuckingham I do not like what is happening to this city. Mass gentrification, he closed FDNY engine and ladder company"s, threatening to close more. Latest MTA crises was no where to be found, to stop MTA service cuts. He promised to support mass transit. I see how he did. He didn't. Said he would create affordible housing. All that has gone up is luxury condos, luxury apartment buildings for the rich. Neighborhoods becoming unrecognizable, no longer welcoming.
@gmcbuses Mike Bloomberg wasted 100s of millions of dollars on worthless tech. City time. Forced the MTA to also waste 100s of millions on worthless tech and glitz. Would much rather had more service, lower fares, older buses, and trains rebuilt to run 6 to 12 more years. Hipsters and Yuppies with endless pockets taking over our neighborhoods. Rich live in every city, because they want to be there. There will always be areas only for the rich. New York"s big. Mike wants them in everywhere.
@gmcbuses Mike Bloomberg does nothing to stop fraud landlords do at DHCR. Does nothing to end vacancy decontrol, luxury decontrol, personal use evictions. He is only for the rich. Fails to enforce his own policy"s. The No smoking laws. In lots of Sunset Park, China town, Chinese runned internet cafes they are ignored. Said he is concerned what is happening to SRO rooms. People from way back are protected with affordible rent. Anyone new moving in is screwed, as they are being used for tourists.
@gmcbuses Sro rooms are being taken away from working people, by rents that wher affordible being taken away, as a result of DHCR fraud. Warehousing rooms. Vacancy Decontrol which needs to be abolished. Government policy"s that are corrupt giving grants to landlords allowing them to make rents unaffordeble. Section 8 shouldn"t paying up to 1,200 towards rent. Makes landlords not wanting to lower rents. Working people like me making only 1,600 a month are homeless, that cannot pay 1,100 a month
@gmcbuses How can you only make $1,600 per month? Even a 22yo college graduate from NYU can make $4,000 per month. Get with the programme or retire to someplace cheap (e.g., Arkansas).
I don't want renters in NYC. I want owners who have a stake in the City. I want the City to be run like a corporation. No more one-man-one-vote. Voting should be proportional to investment in the City. That's how we do it at Bloomberg LP, and if it is good enough for Bloomberg LP, it is good enough for NYC.
@gmcbuses The City of Palm Springs is for everyone? The City of Beverly Hills is for everyone? The City of Bel Air is for everyone? The City of Palm Desert is for everyone? The City of Key West is for everyone? The City of Luxembourg is for everyone?
Economic conditions will always price some people out of lucrative markets.
If you want to balance the budget, you incentivise people who use more in services than they pay in tax to leave NYC. If that is what Mike is doing, great!
What happened to St. Vincent's? People did not pay their hospital bills and then they complained that they had no hospital.
Do you complain that Obama, Summers, Geitner, and Rattner bailed out banks, car companies, but not hospitals? Well, those banks and car companies will pay back those loans. St. Vincent's won't!
Gentrification is a GOOD thing. It means that a poor city is becoming a prosperous city. Poor people with talent have the opportunity to become rich. Poor people without talent may find they have more buying power in a lower cost city, where they may feel more comfortable.
Luxury condos are affordable to the kind of residents New York City needs to attract to pay taxes and cut the deficit.
@CloeBuckingham It is open to corruption, because the rent stabilization law is full of holes, landlords use to get around it. My way each neighborhood would have a number, landlords cannot raise rents above, divided into 4 categorys. Mortgages should be paid over 15 years, to provide for smaller payments. 8 neighborhoods in each bourough the rents should be affordable to the working poor. Those making up to 1,600 a month. 400, 450, 500, 550 would be the rents.
"The public wants term limits, and while it maybe that the city council has the right to override them, deliberately saying to the public, 'we don't care what you think',is, Iwould use the word disgraceful."
Who doesn't get this???!!! Why even put this up...somebody have some interests in ousting Mayor Bloomberg?? I think so.
Please brothers and sisters, have the strength and dignity to stand up for truth, figure it out for your own sake.
WOW. Whoever thinks this holds weight as a defamation of Bloomberg is seriously taken. The fact is that this video is a political scare tactic. The original statement made by him in the beginning of the video shows the truth.
Give me a break, so what..... he wants to be Mayor again. Get over it. He likes his job and can do it better then the idiots up against him. Whats the problem?
But didn't you know that it is more important to "preserve" New York than to embrace prosperity and support New York University and Columbia University?
Mayor Bloomberg hasnt even noticed that NYU is the second-coming of Robert Moses, because while NYU has been tearing down historical houses or evicting cultural landmarks, he has been busy closing down firehouses and advocating for the construction of more football stadiums.
There are no historic houses in a country that is only 233 years old. LOL! Given a choice between preserving the Edgar Allen Poe's House of Usher and allowing NYU students not to commute, I pick the latter. Perhaps the next Nobel Prizewinner will get his Nobel because he could spend more time doing research at NYU rather than taking the train.
@CloeBuckingham It is much better for NYU students to commute. NYU"S hunger to eat the whole East Village, West Village needs to be stopped. NYU, Columbia expansion should only take place on governors Island, outskirts of the city. Neighborhoods are needed for residents. When Mike says progress he means get your moving van. He was suppose to be gone, from running the city.
@gmcbuses No. We want NYC to be a City rich in intellectuals. These intellectuals should be placed at the heart of the City. They are not a shame to be hidden out on Governor's Island.
@gmcbuses Students are residents. The heart of the city is the learning environment for NYU students, with its performing arts studios, art museums, playhouses, etc.
The City of Cambridge, UK, was once governed by the Cambridge University's Senate House instead of the City Council. We can imagine New York City as a towering beacon of light, governed by its finest universities.
@CloeBuckingham What are you talking about I work. There needs to be rent control to keep rents affordable to the working people who keep the city going. People pay less rent to the greedy landlords they will spend more money. Less crime, Less people in poverty, or not as bad in it. Get a job Cloe. Work like I do. I do not mean just sitting behind a desk working for City Time, waisting peoples money, smoking VS 120s luxury lights all day till you get off to drive your Lexus RX 330. I make 1,600.
@gmcbuses You earn $1,600/mo. So wouldn't you enjoy living in a city where that kind of money had a bit more buying power? Where you could find larger apartments for less rent, or perhaps buy a place?
@CloeBuckingham Better here in New York, because alot of other citys are rust belt towns, where I would end up earning way less. The Jobs mostly is is , Minumum wage, extremely part time, Security Guard, Mcdonalds, Burger King, Pathmark crap. It ends up working out the opposite of what you said. I did that. I use to live in Buffalo. Average taxi drivers make is no more than 30 dollars a day. Most people working there are on welfare supplements, because of not earning enough.
@gmcbuses Let's count the number of non-Columbia/NYU affiliated Nobel Laureates in those neighbourhoods member of those communities and the number of Nobel Laureates at Columbia and NYU per displaced members of those communities. Whichever is higher wins.
I want to reward merit. People should earn their place in our glorious Citadel.
@CloeBuckingham NYU should be on Governors Island for further expansion. Not displacing residents. NYU needs to stop the swallowing of Manhattan. Time to shoot this hungry bear.
@gmcbuses Why? You keep repeating the same tired opinions, but you don't explain why the priority should go to non-university-affiliated residents. (Students are residents too!)
@CloeBuckingham The reason is because these people are the ones that work, and keep the city going. That is why the priority should go to non-university-affiliated residents. Almost every city, Buffalo with UB, Buff State,Niagara Falls with NU, Niagara Community College, has them on the outskirts of the City, or out entirely.
@gmcbuses So you are saying that great universities like Columbia should stop doing what great universities do and start doing what Niagara Community College does? Riiiiiiiiiight! I'm glad you are not in charge of higher education. I happen to think that Columbia knows better.
@CloeBuckingham 400 a week is good money, not to have to give 2 quarters of it to a greedy landlord. Your Chinese. Most of the Chinese are working like me, and make less because the greedy Chinese bosses alot pay less than minimum wage. Alot of Chinese landlords are slumlords, like my ex landlord. If the minumum wage was raised to a living wage. Evil Mike Bloomberg is against that. Was against it being raised to 7 something. It should be 15 a hour, then all wages will be more than 1,600.
@gmcbuses Mike Bloomberg is against Obama, requiring all jobs from stimulus money, and their contractors, supplies labor be at least 13 a hour, a living wage.
@gmcbuses Wages should be determined by the market. As long as people are so desperate to live in NYC, they will work low wages, well, let the fools shoot themselves in the foot. If I earned $1,600/mo. I certainly would not live in one of the most expensive cities on the planet.
Bloomberg's $5 billion pre-9/11 personal fortune ballooned during his post-9/11 mayoralty to $20 billion, in a collapsed economy.
Bloomberg turned NYPD over to CIA fourth in command David Cohen. NYPD routinely abducts "persons of interest" & locks them away at Bellevue in restraints, where they are drugged and interrogated, labeled psych patients not suspects so they can be denied their 4th Amendment rights.
When fascism comes to the US it will be announced by an annoying little whine.
This is an absurd conspiracy theory. The mentally ill cannot be incarcerated unless there is clear evidence that they are a danger to society.
There is no law against making money. If Bloomberg can find recession-proof investments, it only shows he's smarter than us, which is exactly what I want in my mayor. Run, Mike! Run!
Napoleon III had enough power to destroy vast portions of Paris that stood in the way of his redevelopment plans. And that is why Paris is the splendor it is today.
Bloomberg should be made Mayor-for-Life and given the power to run New York City as his own personal company, to remake the city in his image.
Let New York be a Las Vegas-style caricature of itself. The servants can be hidden on the below ground floor, just like at Disney World.
I believe Bush should have been impeached for lying about the pretext for invading Iraq.
Both Republicans and Democrats are to blame for the subprime debacle.
Hourly workers at GM were receiving US$84 per hour including benefits until recently. The average for US manufacturing is $31. Workers at Toyota "only" make $45, which works out to around $100K.
GM was destroyed by (1) bad management, (2) unions, (3) GM finance, (4) downturn in the economy.
you are a bloomberg whore, i saw your post on another video too, bloomy is tyrant, with the pockets to wipe you away . YOUUU FUCKINNNNNN IDIOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!
I would love to be Bloomberg's whore, but I am sure that he can afford to sleep with supermodels instead.
He is making the best city even better, building a new stadium for the Yankees. And he is so modest, he won't even let us call it Bloomberg Statium, which would be the best name.
He built these affordable municipal car parks. Now I can easily get into Manhattan. I just park my car and take public transportation. No more exorbitant parking fees or conjestion.
Let's imagine a scenario where lots of poor people move into a neighbourhood and drive down realestate values. Everyone's worst nightmare, right? Well, Bloomberg's policies are doing the opposite.
Bloomberg is now trying to pander to the "middle class" and his support for "entrepreneurs." If voters are fools enough to believe this liar, we are in for 4 more years of duplicity and support for luxury development and the wealthiest segment of the population. He sold out the voters by extending term limits. He doesn't deserve another term as mayor.
Do you expect me to believe that attracting rich people to New York City is actually a bad thing? LOL!
If he can get rich people to upgrade from their current apartments to more luxurious ones, it will free up their current apartments.
Do you know supply and demand? He's increasing supply. So what if it is on the high end. The New Yorkers who take those apartments will free up less luxurious ones, increasing supply.
New York has a huge, continuing supply of rich people. The people who suffer are the lower and middle income groups because landlords take advantage of the high cost of real estate. Less luxury is unaffordable and New York suffers from a dearth of affordable housing. Liar Bloomberg will probably become mayor and continue his cosy relationship with the real estate industry, which will continue to destroy our communities with rampant, out-of-character, luxury development.
Indianapolis has relatively high salaries and the median cost of a house is US$98K. So called "poor people" should consider living somewhere within their means. They would then be able to accumulate wealth and not be poor anymore.
I don't know how you think it is even possible for a city like New York to have affordable housing. Does Tokyo, Paris, or London? That city is just where too damn many people want to live. It's an island. Nothing will change that.
how's that supposed to be funny?, it's against the law what he's doing, but if it's ok to let him change the law as he pleases, then why would people even complain about Castro or Chavez ruling over more terms that what the law says.
I think there are many differences between Bloomberg and Chavez. Bloomberg does not nationalise the properties of his political rivals for one. Bloomberg does not restrict freedom of the press.
Your rhetorical strategy is to find one thing wrong with Bloomberg and then someone who is widely hated who has the same defect. Then you compare Bloomberg to the widely hated person.
I can play the same game.
Bloomberg prays just like Jesus, and he's a man and a Jew. Big wow!
What a disgusting politician. He opposes term limit extensions when Giuliani was Mayor but suddenly decides to WANT them when he becomes mayor. He's a hypocrite, it's undemocratic and it is blatantly disrespecting and ignoring the will of the voters. SHAME ON THESE SELF SERVING POLITICIANS THAT PUT THEMSELVES BEFORE THE PEOPLE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO REPRESENT!!!

@gmcbuses You earn $1,600/mo. So wouldn't you enjoy living in a city where that kind of money had a bit more buying power? Where you could find larger apartments for less rent, or perhaps buy a place?
CloeBuckingham 1 year ago

CloeBuckingham 1 year ago
@CloeBuckingham NYU should be on Governors Island for further expansion. Not displacing residents. NYU needs to stop the swallowing of Manhattan. Time to shoot this hungry bear.
gmcbuses 1 year ago
@gmcbuses Why? You keep repeating the same tired opinions, but you don't explain why the priority should go to non-university-affiliated residents. (Students are residents too!)
CloeBuckingham 1 year ago
@CloeBuckingham The reason is because these people are the ones that work, and keep the city going. That is why the priority should go to non-university-affiliated residents. Almost every city, Buffalo with UB, Buff State,Niagara Falls with NU, Niagara Community College, has them on the outskirts of the City, or out entirely.
gmcbuses 1 year ago
@gmcbuses So you are saying that great universities like Columbia should stop doing what great universities do and start doing what Niagara Community College does? Riiiiiiiiiight! I'm glad you are not in charge of higher education. I happen to think that Columbia knows better.
CloeBuckingham 1 year ago
@CloeBuckingham Ni I should be running it, a great urban scholar.

It should be 15 a hour, then all wages will be more than 1,600.
gmcbuses 1 year ago
@gmcbuses Mike Bloomberg is against Obama, requiring all jobs from stimulus money, and their contractors, supplies labor be at least 13 a hour, a living wage.
gmcbuses 1 year ago
@gmcbuses Bloomberg is Obama's pal. They have golf together. Obama begged him to be his new Treasury secretary, and he said, "No."
CloeBuckingham 1 year ago
@CloeBuckingham I wish he had took took the job, to get him the H out of New York.
gmcbuses 1 year ago
@gmcbuses Wages should be determined by the market. As long as people are so desperate to live in NYC, they will work low wages, well, let the fools shoot themselves in the foot. If I earned $1,600/mo. I certainly would not live in one of the most expensive cities on the planet.
CloeBuckingham 1 year ago

Run, Mike! Run!

Yea! When Hugo Chavez talks about voting to extend term limits he's a dictator! But when bloomberg does it its all good.

The servants can be hidden on the below ground floor, just like at Disney World.

some people loved Bush too, and look where we are now, we're completely fucked!............ahh and GM is gonna be another fuck up story tomorrow.
libidorocksny 2 years ago

YOUUU FUCKINNNNNN IDIOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!
brendanmurphy53 2 years ago
I would love to be Bloomberg's whore, but I am sure that he can afford to sleep with supermodels instead.
He is making the best city even better, building a new stadium for the Yankees. And he is so modest, he won't even let us call it Bloomberg Statium, which would be the best name.
He built these affordable municipal car parks. Now I can easily get into Manhattan. I just park my car and take public transportation. No more exorbitant parking fees or conjestion.
311 is genius!

This comment has received too many negative votes show
Why Michael Bloomberg makes me wet:
1. Relentless pursuit of making NYC green.
2. Serves the poor and needy.
3. Incorruptable. Won't even accept a salary or mansion.
4. He treats everyone the same, regardless of race.
5. 311 to report nonemergency problems.
6. Created massive affordable municipal car parking facilities in support of public transportation usage.
7. Busted the corrupt NYC Board of Education.

What are you? His mistress? You're certainly delusional. Sarah Palin probably made you wet, too. Furthermore, you can't live in a parking facility.

Bloomberg is promoting new construction in New York!

yay new unaffordable condos only for the rich!
alien890890 2 years ago
Let's imagine a scenario where lots of poor people move into a neighbourhood and drive down realestate values. Everyone's worst nightmare, right? Well, Bloomberg's policies are doing the opposite.
CloeBuckingham 2 years ago
Not really. Because when rich people move out of their current substandard housing, they will free it up for the middle class.
PresidentRohMooHyun 2 years ago 4
Bloomberg is now trying to pander to the "middle class" and his support for "entrepreneurs." If voters are fools enough to believe this liar, we are in for 4 more years of duplicity and support for luxury development and the wealthiest segment of the population. He sold out the voters by extending term limits. He doesn't deserve another term as mayor.
Bucephalus2008 2 years ago
Do you expect me to believe that attracting rich people to New York City is actually a bad thing? LOL!
If he can get rich people to upgrade from their current apartments to more luxurious ones, it will free up their current apartments.
Do you know supply and demand? He's increasing supply. So what if it is on the high end. The New Yorkers who take those apartments will free up less luxurious ones, increasing supply.
CloeBuckingham 2 years ago
CloeBuckingham
New York has a huge, continuing supply of rich people. The people who suffer are the lower and middle income groups because landlords take advantage of the high cost of real estate. Less luxury is unaffordable and New York suffers from a dearth of affordable housing. Liar Bloomberg will probably become mayor and continue his cosy relationship with the real estate industry, which will continue to destroy our communities with rampant, out-of-character, luxury development.
Bucephalus2008 2 years ago 2
Indianapolis has relatively high salaries and the median cost of a house is US$98K. So called "poor people" should consider living somewhere within their means. They would then be able to accumulate wealth and not be poor anymore.
I don't know how you think it is even possible for a city like New York to have affordable housing. Does Tokyo, Paris, or London? That city is just where too damn many people want to live. It's an island. Nothing will change that.
CloeBuckingham 2 years ago 3
You say that the luxury development is "out of character." What is that supposed to mean?
Old buildings don't have amenities: security, gyms, pools, live in chefs, etc. That is why some rich people want new luxury apartments.
If you want them to suffer without amenities, they would be wasting their precious time, which is building our economy.

CloeBuckingham 2 years ago
how's that supposed to be funny?, it's against the law what he's doing, but if it's ok to let him change the law as he pleases, then why would people even complain about Castro or Chavez ruling over more terms that what the law says.
libidorocksny 2 years ago
Bloomberg has done nothing illegal. Otherwise, he would be arrested.
CloeBuckingham 2 years ago
he's changing laws for his own benefits, just like chavez is so i guess no one can say Chavez is doing illegal things right?
libidorocksny 2 years ago 3
I do not know Venezuelan law or the history of Chavez's conduct, except that he was once involved in a coup, which seems illegal to me.
CloeBuckingham 2 years ago 4
and he went to jail if im not mistaken but now, he changes the law as he pleases to make his moves "legal" which is what Bloomberg wants to do now
libidorocksny 2 years ago
I think there are many differences between Bloomberg and Chavez. Bloomberg does not nationalise the properties of his political rivals for one. Bloomberg does not restrict freedom of the press.
Your rhetorical strategy is to find one thing wrong with Bloomberg and then someone who is widely hated who has the same defect. Then you compare Bloomberg to the widely hated person.
I can play the same game.
Bloomberg prays just like Jesus, and he's a man and a Jew. Big wow!
