  • That happened to my parents and me when I was little in 1980. My mom wanted to get me up for school and I rolled my eyes back. She got my dad up and they carried me outside. I had a severe headache all day long.

Now I have a cm detector in my home for my family.

  • This could have happened to me. I just moved into another house an a worker noticed that the furnace chimney pipe had holes in it. I did not have CO alarms in this house, but I had them in my other house. The chimney pip was fixed, and I have CO alarms by the furnace and the bedrooms.

  • The first symptoms are feeling sleepy and kinda stoned. A good sign to get outside.

  • The dads head

  • If the oldest boy didn't go in to wake up his brother for school they all probably would have been dead.

  • I don't know about the rest of the Country but its a Law to have Carbon Monoxide Detectors in your home in NYS.

  • you think this show would be on like the reason for Americans Most Wanted

  • You have one video!? This is crazy!

  • Tomorrow with be 17 years since this happened. It happened on a Thursday and on Veterans Day.

  • Amazing just to believe it has been that long now!! I actually remember this day (Friday, November 12) 17 years ago. I was 16 and a sophomore in high school and I remember going to a Friday night football game that night. I can't believe that was more than half a lifetime ago!! I am 33 now!!

  • @redsoxfan426 i was 11 and I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina from Fountain Hills, Arizona and I'm 28 now.

  • Are you Brian?

  • @redsoxfan426 Actually my name is Elaina.

  • Oh, I thought that you were the younger boy on this episode!! Sorry about that!!

  • That's all right. I remember moving to Charlotte, North Carolina from Fountain Hills, Arizona. It'll be 18 years in May.

  • Why did everyone else faint but the boy wearing the glasses didn't?

  • @freespiritaspie It is possible that the oldest didnt pass out right away because he was on the top bunk of his bed, or due to his location in the house. Depending on where the CO was coming from.

  • That police officer really hit his head when he fell.

  • that dude actor or not hit his head hard!

  • Carbon Monoxide is a gas that can kill you because it moves in your house and it can get into your body very fast you do know it is there

  • you dont get have any long-term side effects with carbon monoxide the family is lying

  • @iamaGod357 I just hurt myself I facepalmed so hard. Yes it does, after a long time of suffocation you can get bad effects because your brain has partially shut down and can not return completely back to normal.

  • they shoul bring this show back

  • yea its a hyperberic chamber it forces the CO out of your system

  • This is a more severe case, on other carbon monoxide segements shown on Rescue 911, the family didn't have any long-term side effects.

  • that kid is a nerd

  • @ihavedsl

    And a preppie!

  • I am sure they did very very well with thier law suit award

  • This is why we should have carbon monoxide detectors in our homes and/our apartments.

  • @redsoxfan426 Yep, Our management company just put a CO dectector in each apartment in my building earilier this year. I think its now code in new buildings to have one.

  • What is that tube they put the family in

  • probably the hyperbaric chamber

  • Do you know the name of the episodes talks about a guy with 2 of his going down the steps to a basements and got explosives! the girls and the father got bad injured, I also looking for the episodes talks about a family on a head-on accident in a city road (slow motion videos) but got help by a mexican guy with a long peony tales. Thanks for all the videos you put up. is a value lesson and I enjoy all of it.

  • Sngvanchau20, the segments you are talking about are "Furnace Fire" from Episode 105 and "L.A. Superman" from Episode 224. Furnace Fire has been uploaded by BeatleMoe, andI don't think L.A. Superman has been uploaded by anyone.

  • @radiotech001 i wanna know but what does being in a hyperbaric chamber feel like?

  • some kind of oxygen chamber

  • @pogo506 Compression chamber, forces ox into there lungs and forces the co out

  • @pogo506 its a device that gives out 100 percent oxygen

  • This happened to me and a friend. I remember getting up to go to the bath room but ended up collapsing in the bathroom unable to move, then everything went black. When i woke up i was in the hospital being striped naked and people were asking me a lot of questions. One of the nurses told me she was stapling my head shut, because the paramedics had to kick in the door to the bathroom and the door hit me in the head. It was messed up

  • Wow Don went down hard in this remake...thought he might have actually hurt himself

  • i've never had this happen to me before, but if it ever should i know now what to do. get yourself and your family out of the house, and dial 911.

  • This happened to me and my two sisters once. the one thing i remember is having a really bad head ach and my sisters fell on the floor them a few minutes i did to. them my mom and dad took us out of the house. and i passed out.

  • Carbon monoxide is a product of combustion of organic matter with insufficient oxygen supply, and is often produced in domestic or industrial settings by vehicles and other gasoline-powered tools, heaters, and cooking equipment. Carbon monoxide poisoning is the most common type of fatal poisoning in many countries. Symptoms of mild poisoning include headaches, vertigo, and flu-like effects; larger exposures can lead to significant toxicity of the central nervous system, heart, and even death.

  • you just have to be careful with that equipment even heating equipment that is electric you still could have something bad out of the blue happen if you not careful CO mostly happens when some one becomes careless and install the equipment sloppy or dose not test for and

    modify problems

  • my dads a firefighter he gets calls left and right with Carbon Monoxide its a gas that can kill you insten

  • I hope you are kidding. If you don't know what it is, get your IQ checked out.

  • @radiotech001 some one needs an IQ test

  • @radiotech001 Really? Someone doesn't know what Carbon Monoxide is, asks what it is, and you call them an idiot?! You're the one who needs their IQ checked. There's no reason you should assume someone's stupid for asking a reasonable question that could save their lives and/or the lives of others! I'm an EMT, I've seen too many people who become overcome with CO gas who didn't know what it was prior to their poisoning. The knowledge of this gas is not nearly as well known as it should be.

  • @radiotech001 I agree...but regardless...I just threw up a little...

  • gas poisoning

  • Carbon monoxide (CO) is molecule that can be produced when things that contain carbon atoms are burned (in this case, the fuel for the furnace), and it is given off as a gas. It is similar to Carbon dioxide (CO2), except it only has one oxygen atom.

  • @hjalmars2000 good greif... Google it Or something~!!

  • @hjalmars2000 go back and take 6th gr science

  • Comment removed

  • @hjalmars2000 its a type of gas. its not good for us to breath. and its all over the earth. what happens is that trees take in the carbon monoxide and turn it into fresh oxygen we breath. that is why people what to save trees. and why they are so important, with out trees, there is no life

  • @hjalmars2000 I'm no expert on carbon monoxide but I know it's odorless and you can't see it.

  • @hjalmars2000 Thats a fair question I think. Carbon Monoxide is colorless, odorless gas thats produced from anything that burns gas when its not getting enough fresh oxgen intake within a enclosed space and its slightly lighter than air.Thats why you hear on the news sometimes that people have committed suicide by leaving their car running in a closed garage. Carbon Monoxide builds up and robs the any remaining air in the space until the person eventually dies.

  • @hjalmars2000 an odorless, colorless gas that when its levels go to high it can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning or worse-death!

  • @hjalmars2000 Carbon Monoxide (CO gas) is a by product of inefficient burning of fuel. The problem is that CO gas is 7 times more likely to attach itself to your red blood cells than an oxygen (O2) molecule. This means that you inhale CO gas, it attaches itself to your red blood cells and doesn't let go so your body can't get the O2 it needs to survive. Because you can still breathe while being poisoned, some people are slow to recognize that it's CO gas and not the flu.

  • @hjalmars2000 it's a poisonous gas that's known as the silent killer because it's odorless, tasteless, and colorless

  • @hjalmars2000 It's A Odorless And Might Be Deadly Type Gas!

  • @mrtrainboy97 That's why it's called "The silent killer".

  • @hjalmars2000 It is poisonous gas.

  • this segment's opening should've had a 2 vehicle classification policecar and firetruck lol since its a cop and a co segment needing a firetruck or ambulance.

  • CAN WE TRADE EPISODES

  • Kind of wierd that you want to trade episodes with others when you still haven't sent any of mine yet.

  • I got the same message from the Canadian kid on April 17th, "CAN WE TRADE EPISODES", he didn't respond to any of my messages. Didn't send me any episodes either. Screw it.

  • ouch did ya see him slam his head on the concrete..it bounced

  • Kim Kim Kim Sheesh. That is so scary

  • What is the purpose of riding those mechanical bulls???

Are the kids like aspiring rodeo riders...and those mechanical bulls get them sort of ready to ride a real one.

  • Just purely for fun. I've never ridden one personally but I have seen them set up in bars, restaurants, and at fairs.

  • Is it just me, or does Shat look tired in his intro speech?

  • Nothing against cops but, we EMTs have a name for cops on accident scenes. We call them the Blue Canaries. Whether it's a chemical spill, Carbon Monoxide leak, we know that if we show up on scene and there's cops laying on the ground we know the scene isn't safe. It's horrible to think of them this way but we use cops as old time miners used Canaries.

Advise to everyone, if you see someone in need of help make sure the scene is safe otherwise you may end up another patient/victim.

  • Sure makes you think about what could be getting into your own home without your even being aware of it. Me, I've been wondering if I ought to get a carbon monoxide detector for my apartment. My heating and stove and oven are all electric but I doubt that means I'm completely safe from CO poisoning what with a boiler room just outside my backdoor. And I've got the wellfare of a cat to consider as well as myself. Now if I can find a decent one that fits an SSI only budget...

  • gas gas

  • I remember watching this one the night it first aired on CBS. That was in early '95. Anybody know if anyone's got the other two segments of this ep? I mean the Documentary and the one where the guy gets attacked by bees while mowing his mom's lawn? Now I really wish I still had the 911 tapes I made, but god knows what happened to them.

  • interesting that the 16 year old didn't seem sick when he woke up

  • A flue bug going around, is he hinting that houses around the neighborhood are suffering from carbon monoxide as well??

I mean that in a nice way but suppose the family did have that flue bug the city had which thankfuly Justin's pop knew better that it was Carbon Monoxide.

  • No, he's saying he origanally thought it was the flu, which was going around the area. It DOES do that, it's called spreading.

  • I hate that alarm in the beginning! Anyone have those alarm clocks where they just make those loud beeps to wake you up.

My alarm clock can either be set to music or that loud beeping.

Justin should have set the clock to music..I guess that's his preference though.

  • I've heard that you should set your alarm clock to a sound that you just can't stand to hear and that you should have it clear across the room from your bed. Seriously, would you rather wake up to something as annoying as say, the emergency broadcast system? Or something soft slow and soothing like Berry White?

  • You might have a point that something soft, slow and soothing will likely make one fall back asleep.

  • "Possibly death, and that scared me to death".

Anyone find that unintentionaly humorous with his choice of words??

"Finding out that staying in that house 10 minutes longer I would have died, and that makes me feel real sick".

Another unintentional humorous choice of words by Brandon..

  • Shatner made a mistake I think...

    He says Justin White.

The family's last names is Brooks.

Is the last name Brooks, or White??

Or his Justin's middle name White...probably not.

    Someone made a mistake.

  • I was thinking about what the father said about everyone having a carbon monoxide detector in their house.

Was that because of the experience he and his family had with the nasty carbon monoxide that he said that??

It seems like the family got a detector after this incident.

Had he and his family NOT had that carbon monoxide situation, would he still have gotten a carbon monoxide detector??

I don't have a carbon monoxide detector, but I've never had any carbon monoxide problems.

  • I wonder if I had a carbon monoxide situation, would that prompt me to get a detector???

Maybe the father should have said "everyone should have a carbon monoxied detector to be on the safe side even if you have never had a carbon monoxide accident".

  • keep up the good work uploading segments!!

  • Anyone else find it funny when Justin's brother is riding that mechanical bucking bronco at the end??

I am guessing that this family is into cowboys and rodeo's...based on what we see in the background during jusin's interview, and the mecahnical bull. No problem with that.

  • I don't know why Rescue 911 didn't do a special 300 lives saved show. They had a 100 lives saved & 200 lives saved show.

  • Small error: This was episode 614

    Season 6, Eppie 14.

    No biggie.

  • Actually it was 613, the last segment on 614 is about alcohol posioning of two teenagers.

  • It was the 14th episode to air in season six if you count Episode 955, but the production number (which is how BeatleMoe and I list them) is 613.

  • Kind of like 626-630 which are aired in 7th season. Should've been 702-706 when they we're aired.

  • Not only does Justin seem to be playing himself in the re-enactment, it seems like he is wearing the same clothes in the interview parts as well.

  • Anyone know what segment and episode of 911 the father is referring to when he says "we watched the Rescue 911 episode a week before with a segment dealing with Carbon Monoxide"??

  • Never mind!

I just found out the answer to my question.

The father was referring to the episode:

Season 5, Ep 4: Quechee Gorge Rescue; Asphalt Trap; Carbon Monoxide Family; Where's My Wife

Segment 3 of Episode 4 of Season 5.

    It aired 10-23-1993

  • Typo. It aired 10-22-1993. That's the segment the father and wife and kids watched that helped them overcome this situation.

  • Could it be Episode 411 CO Monoxide family orwhich is posted by BeatleMoe or Episode 508 posted by allgood2000?

  • Now I'm getting confused!!

The father said he saw the carbon monoxide segment of a 911 episode the week before the situation occurs.

    This was a season 6 episode. 613.

This incident occured November 11th 1993.

A week before November 11th would be November4th.

He probably meant the episode he watched aired the Tuesday before November 11th.

The episode of 911 dealing with carbon monoxide closest to November 11th was #504 which aired 10-23-1993.

    #504 was Carbon Monoxide Family

  • Oh - by the way, #504 is on here as well thanks to Dave!

  • 508, not 504 was Carbon Monoxide Family

  • The production number of that episode was 508, but it was fourth episode to air in season 5 since they aired out of order.

  • I've read that at first "Rescue 911" though at 1st was never used as a teaching tool though it was confirmed through a 1995 co.

  • I believe this the 5th carbon monoxide segment I've seen on the show and all were caused by a problem with the furnance

  • never mine my last comment just found out

  • the dad a cop?

  • doesn't the cop look like Dick van dyke?, the diagnosis murder version? also #211 the asthma segment the father looks like musician arthur fiedler.

  • this is like the Robbery segment of #107 because the victim is truck driver and the victim is a police officer and the villains are robber/carbon monoxide poisoning,#107/#613.

  • I would insert a replacement animated policecar used in segment 3 in #107 LOL since it's classified as police.

  • This one should've been 300 Lives Saved special like 100 Lives Saved and 200 Lives Saved.

  • That segment was 508/3?

  • It might have been, although that episode aired on a Friday.

  • I just looked it up on that TV guide page gang. It's Episode 4 of Season 5, segment 3.

An easier way to figure this out:

List all the carbon monoxide segments from the series. Then pick the segment that aired as close to the date of this incident's occurence.

  • It was probably the one from 508 (which was the fourth episode to air in season 5), but it could have been from a re-run that aired around the same time. I'm not sure when Rescue 911 started showing on the Family Channel, but I think it was around 1993 or 1994.

  • 5:42, he looks like the old dick van dyke a bit.

  • This is considered an ambulance categorized or firetruck segment, why policecar?

  • Because it happened to a cop's family.

  • That makes sense. The man is a cop and he saw the 911 episode realizing that it is carbon monoxide poisoning.

  • cool explanation, yet two animated vehicles could've been used lol Ambulance, policecar.

  • 2:55-56 can be seen in the syndicated Rescue 911 promo.
