Man, great vocal performance...but like many TV appearances of the day...vocals on top of studio overdub.

I would have loved to hear the live performance of the instruments as well...oh well.

Even in today's live performances, the instruments don't sound that good. Now I'm not saying it's not X Japan playing their instruments, but the music was recorded prior (or after) and then overlayed ontop of the video.

Watch this and then watch their Last Live performance of the song...in this version there are harmonies in the solo that require 3 guitars (when clearly they're using 2)

My first X song is a unique live version of "Endless Rain", and simply appreciating it took a torturous accident: tried it, ignored it, forgot it was looped, ignored it until... (:

That version was absent of that abomination called crowd participation, and above all, has Yoshiki's drum solos - like this vid; except that only until now I've imagined that Yoshiki used the playback for piano and was drumming. Anyway, this is the least disappointing live performance of the song so far ):
