I'm engaged to a Japanese girl. It's just a cultural difference. Touching another person is not wrong but is definitely avoided, even handshaking wasn't introduced until western culture was. Before then it was always and only bowing, even among best friends. Occasionally we hold hands in public, but even that is taboo here. The idea of a couple kissing on a street-corner is viewed as rude to those around them. They generally will not say anything about it, only give a disapproving glance.

Well I'm from a small town (population 35,000) where the vast majority is caucasian. So it would be a little weird to get racism from someone here. There are a bunch of Indians and natives here, and some Afro-Canadians (like a family or two) but they're fairly new to town. And honestly, even if I did, I wouldn't get offended. It takes a lot to offend me, for one. And two, there's not really much people of other races can say to offend me.

I'm engaged to a Japanese girl. It's just a cultural difference. Touching another person is not wrong but is definitely avoided, even handshaking wasn't introduced until western culture was. Before then it was always and only bowing, even among best friends. Occasionally we hold hands in public, but even that is taboo here. The idea of a couple kissing on a street-corner is viewed as rude to those around them. They generally will not say anything about it, only give a disapproving glance.

Well I'm from a small town (population 35,000) where the vast majority is caucasian. So it would be a little weird to get racism from someone here. There are a bunch of Indians and natives here, and some Afro-Canadians (like a family or two) but they're fairly new to town. And honestly, even if I did, I wouldn't get offended. It takes a lot to offend me, for one. And two, there's not really much people of other races can say to offend me.
