  • I am honored to have had the opportunity to have been on this final leg from Hickam AFB to Wright-Patterson AFB...I was no one special - just a retired Space "A" traveler who just happened to be at the right place at the right time...once we arrived at Wright-Patterson, myself and the few other Space "A" riders were quickly exited the aircraft so the aircraft could be honored with the brave men who were aboard for one final flight that were brought home from Hanoi so long ago..I was blessed...

  • ive seen that one :). before and after the museum

  • Awesome video. I was never in the military but I love the old C-141. I have many fond memories of watching them do touch and goes at Travis AFB. To all the men and women who flew and maintained the C-141, I salute you! Thank you for a job well done and thank you for your service.

  • I was proud to work on this aircraft at Travis AFB. Years later working at Travis I cried every time vets came home. They were drafted into an unpopular war many just out of hi-school. Working with Nam Vets, was an eye opener. No one knows the heartache, guilt, nightmares they suffer from. They did what they had to do and got s**t for it. I appreciate all our vets gave up. Your freedoms have been paid for by our men in service. Before you talk trash, get drafted, spend 18 months & earn the rite.

  • This was so emotional for me that I couldn't even watch the whole thing at once but I did save it on my channel and I will watch it over and over. I love America & Her Warriors & Their Families that stand behind them! Hugs, Sparrow Six-Five!

  • It was an honor to see this leagend fly. You can visit this aircraft at Wright Patterson AFB at the USAF Measume. The aircraft itself is a measume inside.

  • yet all of that effort to befriends with America was just a waste. today after killing millions of our people, poisoning our country and flattening our landscape America finally realized that we are peaceful people.

  • @vntiger You're not welcome here if you're coming here to spam this page and spreading lies.

  • @Vietnam07 I am not spamming the page, im responding to other people's remark with some real facts. quote me a "lie" that I have made please.

  • @vntiger First of all, Vietnam is older than 1000 years. Nobody wanted wars. Communism wanted to take over South Vietnam. They called it "liberation" and nobody knows why? Since when did invasion has the same meaning as liberation? If Communism didn't try to take over there would not have been millions of death. And no Americans didn't kill millions. It is South Vietnam, with the American help, trying to preserve FREEDOM.

  • @Vietnam07 You're proud of VN and so Am I. I don't stand with this side or that side. I stand for what is right. And that is freedom of speech to VN. Freedom to worship and human rights. Not jail people when they speak out the conditions. Social network sites such as facebook and certain news are blocked in Vietnam. Why? It is because it prevents people in VN from spreading corruptions to the rest of the world. Or to speak freely.

  • @Vietnam07 The fact of the matter is that all is history now. You are at the bottom of the hill looking at it. You should climb to the top and have a 360 view of it. I love VN and the people but I hate seeing all the sufferings. I hate seeing the MISINFORMED--the ones who only accept things as they are. You running around and calling people Yankees and cursing aren't doing any good; or to promote your "peaceful people." Your "real facts" are as real as anyone you're debating on here.

  • @Vietnam07 preserved what "freedom" did America preserved "freedom" when the French were slaving the Vietnamese? After the French were defeated by the Vietnamese there were supposed to be an election to unify the country. That never happened because America refused to obey the agreement. Later "south Vietnam" declared it's own independence which was an illegal action. As Vietnamese we would not stand to watch our own country divided, that's why we liberated our country from American occupation.

  • @Vietnam07 and hundreds of thousands of death started before even the liberation when American and it's puppet were super prejudice of Viet Minh who were stationed in Saigon after the defeat of of the French until the reunification and budhhist monks who were rallying against the American puppet government. They were shot, tortured to talk because they were a "communist threat". Also the American puppet Diem who was a former French official put into presidency by the American, what freedom?

  • @Vietnam07 and I said Vietnam is thousands of years older than America, notice the s? opps.. I made a lie.

  • @vntiger Aye vitiger, GET FUCKED Okay? Tell the POW's how "peacefull" your people are. Nuff said.

  • @flyboymd82 i did ask your mom how well her fuck is and then go ask john maccain what accommodation he got in the hotel hilton. nuff said? now suck my dick.

  • @vntiger Dragging someones mom into it now? How typical of an ignorant, shitbag commie.

Sorry but I'm not into rice dicks, twink. Find a liberal scumbag for your gay fun.

  • @flyboymd82 i fucked your mom just like you wanted me to. it's too bad that you're not into rice dick because your mom couldnt get enough of it. at least mine is visible i your sister told me that you want to get her pregnant but she couldnt find it to put it in. i guess you're more into big black dick, go suck on your obama's.

  • @vntiger vntiger has anyone ever told you what a complete jackass you are? What a champ you must be flapping your big fat, stupid mouth at people from behind the safety of your keyboard. You wouldn't even THINK about talking shit like that to someones face pussy. Only cowards talk shit on the internet.

You'd get your head busted wide open in real life you cowardly little weasel. I'd be the first in line for that honor.

Good work, you represent your people well.

  • @fuklibs oh shit! the man that's telling me that i am scared to show myself. is the one threatening me, oooo i am sooo scared! haha, yeah come bust my head keyboard warrior. come to viet nam since I cannot leave my country. let me make another MIA for the Americans to anticipate finding. I am a real jackass but the Americans were real heroes, murdering women and children from my country to afghan and iraq. how about you go FUCK YOURSELF.

  • I flew to Saudi Arabia for Desert Storm in a freezing cold C-141 and came home on a freezing cold C-141. Great plane!!!

  • This is a beautiful film that shares so much emotion. The music is perfect. It is wonderful to see the active duty Air Force personnel escorting the former POW's to the aircraft. Beautifully done!

  • what about the millions of vietnamese killed and maimed by your imperialist war.

    yankee go home.yankee stay home.

you got all in a tizzy with two aeroplanes attacking your country. think of the 50 countries with your war bases still in them. oh and by the way in vietnam-you lost

  • @tumadoireacht

Anything to stop the communist scum is worth doing. Sadly the Republic of Vietnam did not hold out but atleast many commies paid the ultimate price! Also communism has been a failure in Vietnam, today its more or less a 'red capitalist' nation.

  • @miked3038 no human being is scum.a principle of the christianity that america professes to hold dear is that life is sacred. communism is an idea about how to share -nothing to be scared of. america already has a comprehensive socialist and welfare system but for companies and banks not for people.

  • y'all seem to forget that Hanoi Jane turned on her fellow Americans - lay odds if her fatther wasn't Henry Fonda she would have been shot like the common cur dog that is resembles

  • I road in a C141 into battle Dec 19 1989. Then to Saudi Arabia In 1990 with my Ambulance in side her . They were the bests plane to jump from. The C141 is also my "Freedom Bird" . Airbone All The Way!

  • A stirring tribute and well deserved final flight for our POWs.

  • Being the friend and relative of so many armed service men and women, this video brings me to tears. A good friend of mine gave up his life in Afghanistan recently, he was a great friend, a great guy and DAMN good Marine. RIP Danny, we all miss you.

  • I wish this was possible too but unfortunately as long as there are evil

tyrants there must be a people who will

stand up to them and defend freedom. I like you am also grateful to our vererans one of which is my father who fought in Korea. He passed away

in 2006 I was so proud to have the

    American flag drape his casket.

and display his medals so everyone

could get a glimpse of the man he was.

  • "I just wish the attacks would stop in regards to her and the energy be placed to end wars so no soldier or civilian is killed again in the name of peace."

Exactly what part of FREEDOM IS NOT FREE do you not understand, Susan? Peacenik hippy liberals don't live in reality. Fortunately, we have a military that does, even if the radical left hates them.

  • NFarce obviously you do not understand what I mean. I had an uncle that died in the battle of the bulge. It changed my family forever. Can we not have freedom without war? It is possible if we change our mindset and raise our children to think peace and not war. I think war mongers like you just keep it going. War is not glamorous, war is not a movie. War is ugly. It needs to stop. And by the way...I am not a hippy. I just want peace. Obviously....you don't.

  • When we are attacked, you would prefer we let them continue to kill us. Do you think Japan or Germany would have sat down with you and said, "You know, you have a point, sorry, we'll go home now."

We don't want war, but we will give every nut case that wants to die for his cause every opportunity to do so.

  • The working horse of the skies .... this video brought tears to the old eyes .. and still tears me apart seeing our POWs again since 1973, they along with our soldiers still classified as POWs and MIAs, a beautiful tribute .. and pray one day all return.

  • This video left an enormous lump in my throat.

    Ex-C-141 driver, Alan Cockrell,

author of "Tail of the Storm."

  • God bless our brave men and women who have served and continue to serve our great country.

  • Very special. Thank you for sharing.

  • "Freedom is never free.." This machine is a symbol of the price our citizens paid to provide freedom to the citizens of Viet Nam. Because of dissenting citizens in this country, 3 million citizens were murdered in Viet Nam at the conclusion of that war, and they did not get to be free. This is the legacy of Hanoi Jane.

  • 10 - 4

  • sorry ? too little too late. actors are just that and should stay at home or entertain those who are willing to fight for our rights. end of story!!!

  • Huh...I thought actors were people too...not robots. People who vote and pay taxes just like you and I. They get paid alot of money...but so does Bill Gates and I bet if he spoke up against war you wouldn't have the same comment. This is America...where you can say how you feel. But maybe you think you can say or do anything only if it agrees with you. I thought that is why men and women of the military fight...for this right.

  • she didn't just speak out, and if bill, you, or anyone else made the trip, they should just stay.

  • @fubijar12 as opposed to the 6 million whose deaths you caused when you were there apart from your own 58,000-that is 100 locals for every imperialist usa stormtrooper. now you are doing it again in iraq and afghanistan and soon in iran and korea once more. maybe you need a nuclear 9/11 to get a taste of what it is like to host a war -something you have never done

  • @tumadoireacht

I rememmber reading about how the communists would go into villages which American or ARVN medics had given children injections and would chop the arms off, simply as they had been touched by the Americans. My only regret is the Americans did not nuke every city, town and military base in North Vietnam until the had there unconditional surrender! They should do do it to North Korea and Iran to, it would after all save the lives of our troops!

  • @miked3038 yes -all the communists had horns and just one big eye in the middle of their foreheads and they hid at night under beds in kansas. once you have killed off all the nations whose politics do not match your chad chomping bush election fiddlers or who are willing to give you their oil -what next ? if you can produce a single photo of such a child i will eat my town car -but i can show you photos of napalm land mine and agent orange damaged kids

  • @tumadoireacht apparently @miked3038 is the lasting stupid of the ARVN-American anti-communist propaganda machine who have never laid hands on a book and possible only finished half of his/he high school education to understand about communism, agent orange, cluster bombs, bombshells estimated to be 100 time more powerful than Hiroshima and napalms burning children to death running on fire naked. his answer to everything is "kill" which is the result of 3 million vietnamese death;whos the devil?

  • @miked3038 good thinking you fucking nasty devil, nuke every city and town its okay you've already killed millions of women and children with your bombing raids in the northern cities, why not just finish the job, fucking dick sucker bitch.,

  • @vntiger If you had not tried to invade the South then no one in the North would have been killed by the US Military or ARVN, well only the ones your own Soviet puppet regime killed at the time!

But the irony is your government of today is an American ally, you need them!

  • @miked3038 hahaha, democratic election was declined by the US even though it was the agreement made by the Geneva Accord. then the RVN declared it's illegal independence when the country was supposed to be unified by 1956. which later the yankee started sending their troops in barricading the RVN. many revolutionaries and monks were senselessly murdered because the were considered insurgents. on top of that the Americans were doing all of the fighting instead of the ARVN.

  • @miked3038 by the way smarty pants. were are not the invaders, yankees were the invaders we are the Vietnamese people of Viet Nam which is 1000 of years older than the USA. you want to hear IRONY? our leader once came to USA asking USA to help kick out the French and put a nationalist party in power. he was denied. he also helped the American fight the Japanese in Viet Nam and seek out MIA. he later declared independence to Viet Nam following American script to show his friendliness to the USA.

  • MY mother srry

  • Mt mother flew on this plane...

  • I flew on C-141s and C-130s while I was in Vietnam, 1966. These airplanes are still flying! I think it shows the tremendous maintenance program they have!

  • Moving video that should remind everyone the acute suffering our POWs endured and the world largely ignored. Those who fret Guantanamo Bay today were and likely still are silent about the horrors that the North Vietnamese inflicted on our people.

What a fitting honor for those surviving POWS to take that final ride of the Hanoi Taxi.

    I

  • I worked on these airplanes (not this one) while in the AirForce at McGuire AFB...It was 1982 and I was a stupid 17 yrs old kid that had no idea what a great and universally useful airplane it was at the time... I soon found out and grew to love and respect it... Still fixing airplanes today for Continental but I'll never forget this one...

  • Vrollen. I also worked the C-141's at McGuire...started in 1972 through 77, as a G.I., then from 1984 through 1993, as a civilian. Like you, I loved that airplane. The older it got, the more frustrating the problems (wiring, etc) became. But, all in all, a great flying machine. I see you now work for Continental; that's great! I finally got my "avionics/RADAR credentials", (no A&P). But, was too old by then. Did start my own flying in 1980 and it has been good to me. Thanks.

  • @mmichaeldonavon I was in AR shop from 1982 to 1986... I bet we might know each other from them times...

  • I flew in a C-141 from Rhein-Main to Mildenhall in 1974. Next to the C130, probably the most beloved transport.

  • My oldest brother was a guest of the NVA we had hope when that b52 looking thing pulled uo because we were informed he was alive - and well?. SNAFU he wa ALLREADY in HI, I'll love you forever anyways c-141

  • I was in the initial cadre of the 14th,15th & 53rd MASs at Norton AFB, CA. in 1967. I picked up several new C-141s at the Lockheed factory in GA., 60177 was one of them. I performed the first USAF acceptance preflight in 1967 on this aircraft.

I was reunited with this great aircraft after 40+ years last summer at the museum. I logged 6000+ hours in the C-141, performing every type of mission it was designed for and some that it was not.

R A Stackhouse MSGT Flight Engineer Ret.

  • Thank you for the video.

The final flight home from Nam to the World is a deep experience words cannot express. But if you were also a POW and spent years in Hanoi Hilton under extreme duress, and now can return home, it is a Sacred, Solemn and Joyful Homecoming.

  • That was wonderful, My Dad worked at Lockheed and on the C-141, C-130 and C-5 and I think he loved those planes as much as he did me but then again I love them too.

  • While not completely sure, I believe the F-14 Tomcats first mission was flying air cover for the evacuation of Hanoi. If that's true, this C-141 and the F-14 flew together on this memorable mission.

  • Thank You to all our wonderful Veteran's and our Military of today...if it wasn't for you, Our Great Nation would not be free. It is because of your bravery and sacrifice that the idiot's of today can talk trash with their ignorance. It is so sad that the Liberals are trying to destroy everything that you have worked so hard to save. God Bless you all, God Bless America...long may she live and without the destruction of our current Socialistic Administration! C141 rocked as did the F-14 Tomcat!

  • March AFB, where 177 landed with this original flight, was home for a few months in 1968-69 and Elmendorf AFB was home for 2 years, 10 months and seven days in 1969-72.

As a young Airman and NCO in the fire department I spent many hours standing by on these Freedom Flights and other C-141 ops going and returning from 'Nam. Since Elmendorf was a primary stop for all there is little doubt I stood by on her for protection while refueling.

    God bless our veterans.

  • Great video Vietnam07. Thanks for posting. As a Navy type I had the honor of serving as a convoy commander and working with the C141s while assigned to a Defense Atomic Support Agency Base, Clarksville Base, TN, which was located adjacent to Fort Campbell, KY. I was always impresses watching these big workhorses land and takeoff as the delivered their cargo and/or returned it to operational readiness. The crews with which I worked were always professional and courtious. BZ -- Well Done.

  • Fond memories. I flew 60177 many times out of Norton AFB: 63MAW and 445MAW. I was surprised and sorry to see the C-141 retired, but understood, eventually, why it was necessary. Nice to know I can still go see one that I personally flew.

    TJ Kelley, Lt.Col.,USAF, Ret.

  • Moving. I needed that, thank you.

  • God bless our troops; every one. Your sacrifice = our freedom. Thank you.

  • @bulldogchronicles 1.5+ million of our civilians... for your "freedom" good job, cuz we vietnamese were the invaders right ;)

  • Three of my pilots were among the POW's flying out of Hanoi that wonderful day. John McCain, Jay Cary, & Al Stafford. My family and I watched the 141 take off , we stood, saluted, cried & hugged each other. Welcome home guys.

  • Neil doesn't have a clue.......

If it was up to people like him, we would all be speaking German, Japanese, Russian????

Thank god most Americans don't think like him........

    I

  • I flew 5000+ hours in the C-141, and hundreds in the C-141 60177, It was a solid airplane that took care of its crews and got us home safely despite long missions flown under adverse conditions... capable of airlift, airdrop, and air refueling.......Great tribute to great airplane

    Erik M, USAF Reserve, retired

  • We didn't lose the Vietnam war, we left., Neil, people lke you would roll over and play dead or collabrate with the enemy. You are a brain dead leach.

  • I can't believe I wear a uniform for a worthless turd like you! Its bottomfeeding scum like you that bring this country down. I'll bet I pay your mortgage now dont I?

  • Isn't it funny how cocksuckers like Neilist 1001 come out from under a rock for videos like this? Most likely a draft-dodging coward living on welfare paid for by Veteran's taxes. May he die the death he has earned.... slow and painful.

  • Another Frenchman who doesn't get it. No true American would say such a thing, so we can only say, God Bless America and let the French stew in their jealously of our wonderful nation.

  • Jerk

  • I will keep this video forever as we at our GFJ American Legion Post 1700 have erected a POW/MIA All Wars Monumnet for the men & women who have never come home. WE thank those POW's who have returned home for their service and thank God that they were able to come home. God Bless them all and especially those who have never come home; may they rest in peace knowing they were not forgotten!

  • The C-141 has always been a favorite of mine eversince it brought my family & our son home from Turkey in October 1977. He was killed there in a bike /truck accident while we lived at Incirlik AB,Turkey. WE flew home with our son from Turkey via Germany to Dover AFB,DE. I have flown on the C-141 many times but I will never forget that day in October for the rest of my life. I was an AF wife for 20 years and have flown on C141,C5 & a C-9 but I will always keep the C-141 in my heart forever.

  • This brought tears to my eyes. I still have my POW bracelet. My POW made in home on one of those flights, and I still have the letter he wrote me afterward.

  • Tremendous coverage with storyline and video.

  • I had the privilege of flying C-141s during the remaining 15 years of my Air Force career. It always was a faithful, reliable bird that took me around most of this world and served our country well.

  • I worked on this Aircraft from 1982-1992 Charleston AFB, SC. It was sometimes a bear to work on but I have fond memories of Chas and the aircraft. It took me many places as a young man and always brought me home to my family. As with everything and everyone it's time has passed and now it must rest its tired ole bones. Good Night my friend. Rest well.

  • Welcome home, you will never be forgotten.

In honor of my father, Da-Nang 70-71

  • I would like to thank all the veterans that allow this country to be free. I know you don't hear it near enough, and I would like you to know you have people behind you.

Much Love and respect to you all

  • I had the honor of being a flight engineer on C-141's out of Norton AFB. To me retiring this last tail number 177 is like lhe lost of your best friend. I had the honor of crewing this plane more than once, It was always an honor to crew 177 and remember what it stood for. Lookeed should be proud of their work, it was a solid plane. Oh WOW I just saw the 445th shield in the video.

    Dan Owen

    445 MAW / 730 MAS

  • Wonderful video. It reminds me that we *DID* learn a lesson in Viet Nam which shows up today with the Iraq veterans. And that is that while we may disagree on whether a war is just, we all agree to honor those that serve.

  • I was an MP at Hickam AFB when this bird arrived with the POW's...I knew I was watching history even as a 20something...glad she's going to Dayton

  • Great video. The C141 was my father's plane in Vietnam, I am sure this video would bring a tear to his eye.

  • The C141 Starlifter in general and this aircraft in particular have a special place in the hearts of Vietnam Veterans ... this well-done video does a good job of memorializing the Last Flight of the Hanoi Taxi ... to all involved, Thank You ... Vietnam vet - US Army, 1968-69

  • A special thank you to the U.S.O. and the Military Airlift Command for transporting Mr Bob Hope and troupe to Thailand and Vietnam and all over the world to make our tours a special time at Christmas. He flew many trips on this awesome aircraft.Never forget

  • Thank you for this military tribute to our Vietnam Veteran POW'S and this truly great aircraft.Had the pleasure to hitch a ride a few times while in S.E.A. and remember it like it was yesterday.Got on board at Travis as well as Bangkok.I live very close to Mc Guire and always followed them out in the sky as they headed out over the Jersey Coast.

  • Iserved 13 months In S.E.A. And knew the 141 as the FREDOM BIRD And as the silver samlaw

  • I have never flown a C-141 but I jumped out of a few. This plane was a dream to jump out of, the blast deflector allowed you to just step off and ease into the slipstream. So much better than trying to throw yourself out of a C-130.

  • What is not mentioned is that this beloved plane was last pictured in the video at Wright-Patterson AFB and the Air Force Air Museum in Dayton, Ohio. I'm sure servicemen and women know and recognize that, but the general public may not.

  • In 1989 I was recovered by the Delta Force after being captured in the Marriott Hotel and held Hostage by the Macho deMonte during Operation Just Cause; after being processed by the 44th MI Bn. I was sent back to Charlston AFB on a C-141 from Howard AFB on New Years Eve 1989. It was quite a happy ride ride for me, and a Great Aircraft. Much smoother than the old C-123s of Vietnam I use to have to ride.

  • I was the NCOIC of the first Medical Reception Team into Hanoi on February 12, 1973. To shake the hands of those HEROES was something I will always cherish. USAF Air Evac for 20 of 26 years. Bruce G. Lewis, SMSgt, USAF Retired

  • I flew the C 141/A with the 8th MAS at McChord AFB, Wa and the 707 MAS at Charleston, SC from 1970 to 1978. Lots of transpacs, sea trips and 10000 hours in 8 years. What a great airplane and a great adventure for a young man from Texas. It was/is a great part of my life that I'll never forget. Thanks to this airplane, I have had a great career and nice life. God bless the C141.

  • Having flown the C-141A/B for 16 years (1978 to 1994), accumulating over 9000 hours, I have to say it was a pleasure to fly and be a part of some great Military history. I flew this plane: 60177 on more than one occasion. I always got chills everytime. Thanks for posting a great video. And thanks to everyone who ever had a part in this great Military aircraft.

  • thank you all.we as a nation can never truly pay you back for all that you have gave us. THANKS AGAIN

  • Incredible!

  • What a great plane! I served as a civilian Asst. Chief of Operations/ Training and Fire Prevention helping protect this bird while serving at Lowry, Castle, Norton and Whiteman AFB. What a great plane!

  • Very Moving, kids in school should be shown this kinda stuff.

  • Very emotional to watch. It makes me proud that my father was a pilot in WWII & Korean war & my brother who served 4 tours in Vietnam. Both served for our freedom. Thanks to all who have served & are serving now.

  • I am proud to have worked on the avionics systems on most/all of the "Hanoi Taxi's" during the war. And I was proud of my service in the USAFRes from 1967-1992.
