Iam a muslim and i agree about the necessity of being honest in your behaviour. But some muslims may behave in another way, exactly like some christian and jews do. on a personal level in my work, my supervisor who is a christian preten to be religiously open, but when i was using 20 minutes (the nature of our work as doctors does not allow us to have scheduled lunch time, so i get the 20 minutes to pray and i do not have lunch at all or i can have a bottle of juice)
I'm interested to know the religious form for muslim doctors in emergency situations. This maybe an extreme 'what-if?', but pertinent all the same: What if you were the only available doctor in some disaster area and your skills were desperately needed and requested for 24 hours straight. Are you able to postpone your 5 prayers to the following day where you would do 10 or would you have to take breaks?

I don't think women wear a hijab voluntarily because they so often dress and makeup otherwise very provocatively: spike heels, heavy black eyeliner. It focuses on the SYSTEM on how everything should work. Homosexuality could be right to you because you are a gay and that doesn't necessarily mean being gay is a right thing to others. Islam AND every other major religions including Christianity and Judaism consider homosexuality as a sin (wrong).

Actually, there's a HUGE difference of opinion on 'dar al harb', many believe places like the uk are 'dar a aman' where its neither muslim land or war land because we are not oppressed, so we follow the law of the land because it not oppressive.
The truth is the majority of the muslims dont even know about dar al harb etc, we just do try to observe our 5 daily prayers and fast in order to get closer to god...

muslims are not allowed to lie for islam. we are supposed to reveal our religion, unlike shiites (or called shi'ahs). they are allowed to hide their true religion with encounters to different religion.
i am a muslim and i have been educated in a muslim environment for 12 years, and i have never seen anything or discovered anything about being allowed to lie for our religion.

Iam a muslim and i agree about the necessity of being honest in your behaviour. But some muslims may behave in another way, exactly like some christian and jews do. on a personal level in my work, my supervisor who is a christian preten to be religiously open, but when i was using 20 minutes (the nature of our work as doctors does not allow us to have scheduled lunch time, so i get the 20 minutes to pray and i do not have lunch at all or i can have a bottle of juice)

I'm interested to know the religious form for muslim doctors in emergency situations. This maybe an extreme 'what-if?', but pertinent all the same: What if you were the only available doctor in some disaster area and your skills were desperately needed and requested for 24 hours straight. Are you able to postpone your 5 prayers to the following day where you would do 10 or would you have to take breaks?

In an emergency situation when my skills are needed Iam allowed to postpone my 5 prayers till the situation is clear. In islam human life is really repected and should be cared for. I know you would ask me "What about all the people the terrorists kill" and I would respond what about all the INNOCENT people in Iraq, Afaghanestan and all over the wolrd the US and its allied kill every day inspite talking about human rights every day. Any doctor would skip their lunch if they were needed to treat someone, regardless of their religion. You say that human life is respected in Islam, yeah, well it is in other religions and to those who don't follow a religion.
Don't compare the suicide attacks on 7/7, the Madrid and Bali bombings, with how many people are killed in Iraq. US and allied soldiers are not actively going out killing innocent people. How many innocents are indiscriminately killed by Muslim suicide bombers in markets?

I'm neither for or against her choice, I'm just opposed to the stance in this video that Muslims seem to be crying out to be something different in private verses public as though hypocracy is rampant and Muslims have a monopoly on it. The man in the video comes across as self righteous to me. As for the Hijab I will wear mine to my job interviews, hopefully my potencial employers wont be so discrimanatory.

When someone asked a question or interrogate or interviewed , the interviewer has to be sensitive over certain questions and for the interviewee , he or she has to be quick witted to respond to the question very well , this is to avoid doubts in the interviewer's mind. I don't think women wear a hijab voluntarily because they so often dress and makeup otherwise very provocatively: spike heels, heavy black eyeliner. I believe the male head of household expects the hijab and the girl or woman wears it out of a kind of fear. That said, this teacher sounds like an abusive bigot. Unfortunately, educators are often some of the dumbest people you will ever meet.

We all do that, the whole "public vs private" thing. It's called a wall and we all put it up, unless of course one feels free to disclose every personal event in his life to any person, high and low, then you cannot make such a generalization on your experience with SOME Muslims. I could make the same statement about Christians, but I'm not going around saying "I don't know why Christians do this or that." It's common courtesy.

I just LOVE how the media (and now you, no offense) seem to be singling Muslims out. "A Muslim Terrorist", "the family of the boy who drowned was Muslim", and other such antics. I don't think I heard "Timothy McVeigh was Christian" or the religious beliefs of the Virginia Tech sniper was.

The only reason Islam dictates that a woman be totally covered is because Allah doesn't have the power to give man a new heart and the power to overcome lust. So rather than the lust in the heart of man be dealt with and subject to God, instead women are ordered to cover themselves. The lust still remains undealt with and manifests itself in other ways. Hence, the idea of a paradise with many hoors is so very appealing.

The christian school should stand up for her and teach the kids modesty from the scriptures. We should support a believer practiceing what GOD has enjoined unto the believing man and woman. Women in Islam follow Deut 22:5, Cor 11:5-6, 1 Tim 2:9-10 & direct revelation of Holy Quran 33:33, 24:31. Isaiah 3:16-24 warns unchaste woman. Islam prevents evil right from its begining.

A headscarf does not cover the face and comes under the category of hats and headgear. By contrast a burka or veil covers the face and thus the identity of the person and comes under the category of a mask or disguise. This desire to keep their identity secret in public places gives adequate cause for suspiscion and distrust.
