  • god bless. mary 25th / new year

  • @galegregory97comcast Thank you!!!!!

  • Hi, Nice work. What are the especs. of the motor ? Thanks

  • Way to go! I am embarking on a Bug project, just getting going. Keep up the great work.

  • very entertaining video; will be converting my dodge neon next year.....will be calling it....the ELECTRIC NEON.

  • tkx for the video can eny help me with the electric motor how can i get one

  • Ah! That makes a lot of sense (I looked at the circuit diagram), the one last thing I'm wondering is what the specs were for the inductor and capacitor? This is really cool, I would imagine you could connect the transistor/gate to a laptop, maybe even with as something as simple as the computer's sound card. This is solving a lot of stumbling blocks, because in a hybrid software is inevitably going to become involved. Thanks a lot!

  • Well, the motor acts as the inductor. It's about 100uH I think. The capacitors are sixteen 820uF 200v Panasonic caps with high ripple current capability and low ESR. Check out Digikey to see them.

  • Ok, so you split the circuit into sixteen buck converters in parallel. I'm guessing this cut down on transistor costs? (16 ~30A transistors vs. 1 500A) Am I right?

  • Hi, I'm wondering if there is enough room to mount a 9" double ended shaft electric motor in between a gasoline engine and manual transmission. The electric motor is a simple brushed dc motor, max horsepower at around 2500 rpm, I figured it would be a very easy way to add horsepower and reduce emissions. Plus, regenerative braking would be as easy as using the motor to brake. Do you think this is possible?

  • I've never heard of the motor and engine being in together. You could try it. I don't know if there is enough room.

  • Ok, maybe I'll make a video if it works.

  • Actually, I think that's what Chevy's doing with the Volt.

  • No I don't think so, it said the propulsion will be exclusively provided by the electric motor. I believe the prius is a cvt to flywheel type thing. Seems strange that no one has done this. Is your controller a frequency generator to contactor type thing? with a dc offset and a diode? Or is it something more complicated?

  • You're right. They are using the gas generator to power the electric motor. Mine is a PWM buck converter. You start with a battery pack, and you modulate the pulse width to vary the voltage from 0 to full pack voltage.

  • Wow, I learned a lot about what is possible from watching this videos. I posted them on a robotics board. Thank-you.

  • Awesome! Make sure you check out ecomodder(dot)com(slash)wiki for directions on making your own 144v 500amp motor controller too. The car is still working great after almost a year and a half.

  • Thx for your quick reply , I will watch your other videos

    Thx Again : )

  • Very interesting I enjoyed the video does that mean that you can use the car on the streets say like a normal one Or do you need a different license.???

And lastly how long does it take to charge up .

  • Yes, drive it around all the time, and also test my motor controller prototypes in it. Check out the other videos to see the home-made motor controller. I didn't get a different license. I haven't been pulled over yet either, so I'm not sure if it's OK. hehe.

  • You clearly used Windows Movie Maker from Widows Vista.

  • I want to drive one of these its gotta be wierd with it running so quiet.

  • Oh it's weird alright! You just sit in a dead car at a stop sign, and then people sometimes come up to help you, and then you suddenly drive away! haha! It's so much fun! By the way, the car's been working great since Last August! Uh Oh! It's been over 3 months since my last oil change! hahaha!

  • thamks man...awsome..

  • " but you can do it yourself for under $100 "

    ¿¿¿HOW???

The electric motor costs more than 1000 euros!

    Where you take it?

How much volts an kw it haves?

Which kind of batterys U use on tha bug?

    Thanks.

  • Oops! I mean you can CONNECT the motor to the transmission for under $100. You can't do the whole conversion for under $100. :)

  • Great video. Thanks, I'm trying to make the motor/trans connection myself now, so it was a help. A question: you taped the LJ connectors together. Does that keep the one that is not keyed to the motor shaft from floating around and making noise? I would think the tape would wear out.

    Thanks Jack

  • The tape was to keep the lovejoy without the keyway from moving (you're right). The lovejoy slid loose anyway, so I wrapped it the other way with electrical tape, keeping the lovejoys pushed together, then I rubbed a thin layer of gorilla glue all around the tape, and it made a hard coating over it. It's worked without any problems now for the last several months.

  • I love the Giraffe segment, it's my favorite...

This has been really helpful information.. Thanks!

  • Thank you! I've now driven like, oooh, maybe 200 miles or so and everything is still working really well! I like driving past the gas station.

  • Great Video, really helps me with my conversion, thanks for taking the time.

  • It's all good! ya! By the way, the adapter plate and coupler is still working great, and I drive the car almost every day. It's been working since August 23rd.

  • Nicola Tesla's car used a battery switching trick which makes the batteries self charging. Google "Tesla Switch", and positive results and replications are found on overunity website.

  • cool

  • Why is called P&S EV Conversion ?

  • That's a good question. I think I wanted to call it Paul and Sabrina's electric vehicle conversion, but that seemed too long.

  • Hi Great work. Can you change gears with the motor still running?

  • Heck yes you can! But you want to run the motor around 3500-4000 rmp, so you can basically drive in 2nd gear all the way up to like 45 mph, so basically no shifting is required in town. Check out the forkenswift's youtube video example of shifting without using a clutch. It's pretty dang cool.

  • Thxs i check it out later

  • Holy cow! This is the most amazing video I have ever seen!!! Keep up the good work.

  • but you made this! Oh, ya, me, I forgot.

  • You're crazy, I love it, LOL !

    5 stars of course.

    Next episode coming soon ?

  • Heck Ya! But it just rained last night (which I wasn't expecting), and I just put all the power electronics stuff in the inside back of the car, and the stupid $40 car leaks in back. I'm just about to run over there to see if our lovely controller is immersed in water. If you liked this video, you are really going to like the next one.

  • FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!! Looking forward to your next vid!

  • The next video should be ready soon. We now have the batteries, and right now, I'm cutting a board on which to place the 300 amp fuse, contactor (power on/off switch), controller, throttle control stuff, and pre-charge resistor (so the controller will last a long time). I'm still waiting on a package that has the high current lugs and PB-6 throttle control.

  • hey thats great. what is the hp for your motor? my dad used to call those gorilla welds big black and ugly but real strong. your project looks great. what will you bring the pack voltage up to? i have been waiting for you to get a video up. did you use lock tight on the bolts? it will prevent any thing from coming loose along with lock washers. i know the spacers is a pain in the neck. hey this is great.... well see ya later and good luck. see if the auto parts place can get you 8v batteries.

  • It's rated at 10hp continuous at 72v, 40hp peak at 72v. I'm planning on doing 48v for a while until I get a controller upgrade. That'll be an extra $300 or so if I sell the 48v 300amp Curtis controller when I'm done with it. Or, if the around town speeds work out ok, I'll just leave it as it is.

  • Actually, I just went out today and bought some locktite. Thanks for the suggestion!

  • what a cute kid....has he start saying my name yet??? the credits are very important don't want anyone to sue you especially, the "GO, DOG Go" for those countless entertainment hours. Have you all taken it for a test drive yet? Do a little 3 wheel motion?

  • Would you make me one? I live in the Olympia area too! I'd be happy to pay for it, since I know it looks like a whole lot of work. I'm tired of paying $300 per month for my gasoline! Is $300 ok?

  • Well, I've only made 1, but I bet my next one will be even better than the first. Sure, I could make you one for $300. What I need is a lathe. That will make things so much easier!

  • you can get a milling machine for about $900 from harbor freight. my wife wont let me get it right now.

  • $900... It's on my list, oooohh ya! But there's just one problem, the $900.

  • Comment removed

  • @UmairNaeemKhan i can not find any thing on the net so can you tell me what that means?

  • @n2confusion the ppl who do everything after the permission of their wife are called beeve ka gulam
