The Porsche Cayman S is NOT a supercar. I own one. I drive the hell out of it. On track and daily. Go see my vids. Yes, I have top end Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Yes I have the lowered and hardened suspension from the Porsche factory. Yes I have the sport options and it is a Cayman S. No it is not a supercar and I have at least one trophy from a Formula One race track to prove it. Open wheel race cars are much faster on the lift off from a corner. Much more aggressive in braking. Sorry, guys.
$162,695 * is what Porsche charge for this car, plus on roads charges here in Australia. For the people in the UK this is 108, 168 pounds for exactly the same product. Porsche Australia you are having a fucking lend... You bunch of thieving cunts. Yes we do have a luxury tax of 30% which should mean we pay $86,00 AUD.
How would you like to get 100% mark up. Just flog your car off in Australia, it will still be cheaper then what we pay for it

Cayman a super-car? No. Incredibly fast car that is beautiful, handles better than most cars (including super cars), yet still a functional car? Yes. And is it still a porsche? Indeed 'tis.
@pocketfiend36 Yeah, its a flat six ofcourse! Also, when you switch off the PASM, the cayman doesn't lower itself by 10mm, all caymans equipped with PASM are ALWAYS 10mm lower by default.
C'mon Tiff you can do better than that with your facts. I'd totally rock a R8 V10 as the main supercar, and the Cayman S as a side driver for fun when I want to keep on the down low when I don't want to attention from the R8.
@sakda357 how can you even put the Cayman and the 370z in the same sentence? I agree that the Cayman is a high performance car-- not a supercar, but the nissan??? That car is horrible.
I wouldn't consider the Turbo or GTR a supercar.. but I mean there's no real clear definition of what is or isn't a supercar.
Even on Best Motoring which is hugely biased for Japanese cars, they didn't consider the GTR to be a supercar because of the high roofline. When you sit in the GTR it's just like sitting in a normal car, not like if you sat in a Ferrari or something.
And the Cayenne Turbo that I own supposedly tops out at 172 mph with a 4.4 second 0-60 time. Not that I've actually tied the top end or timed the 0-60 times. I think the Cayman would be more fun to drive though. Unfortunately, my S.O. thinks that having 2 extra seats is more important and since she mainly drives it, I don't really have much to say about it... Back in 1989, I bought a new 944 Turbo... Now, *that* was a fun car to drive...
the whole drive is out of sequence and in some places he's going back down and not up to the pub (which is the best way to do the cat and fiddle). Bastards have also gone and put average speed cameras on it now too.
nice...being a super car has nothing to do with with special code's an badges..or hp,an price tags...it's about over performance...technology,an the quality of the build!! an this is it!!..besides with a stage two turbo, this car can make 550hp at the crank!!..that sound's supercar to me,exspecialy with the weight of this car!! power to weight ratio would be unreal....
the cayman ISN'T a supercar... its a high performance car... a $400,000 Carrera GT is a supercar. im a huge fan of Porsche but 0-60 in 5 isn't a supercar... this car is definitely a great handling machine, and plenty fast for just about anyone. obviously worlds better than any honda could ever be, and i cant believe Tiff Nedell called it a straight six...
@milo2361 you forgot one thing, Tiff says that the car is lowered 10mm when you press the PASM button, but PASM equipped cars are already 10mm lower than non PASM cars.. the ride height stays the same but the ride is firmer when activated.
it is a boxer six. Also, he says the PASM lowers the car by 10mm in sport mode...all PASM equipped cars are lowered 10mm - the two settings simply alter the suspension response characteristic tending towards firm for sport, and softer for normal...but it will constantly adapt between the two extremes. However, that is an awesome handling car and well driven.
A sport car is anything from a Golf GTI to a Cayman. A super car is anything above a 911. End of story.
