This is an amazing dog and an amazing woman!!! I would love to talke to her. I have a Jack Russell who does math and like Maggie she loves her work. I am shocked stunned at the comments made by people who could actually watch her and not see that she can do math. I can only think perhaps they can't believe in anything. However, some of you need to check out the latest research in canine intelligence. While this one might be trickery there is evidence showing dogs are capable of simple maths.

Its not all that amazing its a really simple trick actually she breaths however many number of times she wants and the dog will stamp it's foot as many times as she breath any dog can learn it you just have to know the right method of teaching it.

I've seen this on oprah as well. no matter who asked the questions, the dog did it anyway. so it's not a trick. it's just a smart dog.. when you keep it under ten.

This is a GREAT classic animal trick one over the years. Mostly done by horses . I remember seeing this on TV years ago from the 1950's. It is a good trick, but ,still just a cute animal trick & NOTHING more.

This is more than likely a "Clever Hans" situation. But even so, the dog is still pretty clever to have realized it.

The dog can't count. I saw it on Oprah. The dog is getting some sort of signal however subtle. Just watch the dog. Whenever it starts counting it looks closely at the woman until it stops. Notice the woman has her hands on her legs whenever the dog counts. It's a fake.

there was a very similar case with a counting horse. the owner did not even realise that he was giving the dog signals, but he gave them at the start and the end of when he expected the dog to stop. the dog was simply being conditioned to react to those signals and get thus receive a treat. even people who watched the man with the horse did not see the signals as it was actually the guy raising and lowering his eyebrows.

to really test, they need to remove the woman from the equations :P

The case was called "Clever Hans". This animal counting trick is old stuff. I'm surprised anyone does it any more, but seeing how many people believe it, I guess anybody can take an ancient doggie trick (or horse trick originally) and market it as something new.

this is very impressive, however the dog is not doing math. this is called the "clever hans" effect, where someone gives nonverbal clues to the animal, anticipation, satisfaction, encouragement, whatever. the owner (originally with the horse clever hans, at least) did not intend to deceive. however, all the animal is doing is reading very subtle unintentional clues that the questioner is giving as to when they have reached the answer- they are not doing math
