From what I heard, joedifranco, all of the characters are played by the real life players, and apparently how this can be will be explained in the games.
However, the info in this video that Kite hasn't mentioned his friends is false. He tells Tokio, in the manga, to seek them out when he is frozen.
The reason characters like Seig, Sora, Elk, and Phyllo (the former three becoming Kuhn, Haseo, and Endrance respectively while Phyllo had died) is because you can somehow go to different timelines in the game. As for the manga, everyone remains as they were by the end of G.U. (which means the four I just mentioned, as well as some others possibly, don't appear aside from flashbacks)
When the part about Azure wasn't really need, sense both Kite and Azure Kite are in the game. And I believe he is 24 sense he was 14 in the orginal game

I heard recently that it might not be a person playing as Kite, like in G.U. Azure Kite was just an anti virus protection system that Aura created.
I hear that THIS Kite in LINK is just another of Aura's creations made from the original Kite's memories.

Umm, if you go to .hack//Wiki and look up "Kite (LINK)", it says that he is indeed 23-24 years old.

Yes he was 19-20 during Legends. Balmung says he would be working on college exams right now in the manga but he's 23-24 in the new game
