Sometimes his orchestration got a little lush. Check out the '88 band. 5 horn players. Every single tune is swimming in horns. Zomby Woof, smothered in horns. Something about it is odd.

But he's a guy for whom the orchestra was the ultimate instrument and he drew very few (almost no) distinctions between orchestral music and rock music. He probably would've toured a fifty-piece group if it had made any sort of financial sense, and would've arranged every tune for the full group, too.
