  • easiest tutorial to follow for file sharing.

  • How did you set up the network between Windows XP and Windows 7 in the first place?

  • @zurpher123

I just had them both connected to a router, the xp pc was connected via a cable to the router and the new windows 7 pc was connected wirelessly.

  • Super helpful. Thank you for sharing!

  • This looks great Bill, but how are these two computers physically connected to one anther? Is it with a crossover cable, some type of USB cable, or some other method? Thanks.

  • @BigKWS

one was connected via a RJ45 cable to the router the other was connected via wireless to the router.

it doesnt really matter, both can be connected to router via RJ45 or both could be wirless or you could use a cross over cable.

  • BRILLIANT!! This is an awesome tutorial my friend. You are very good at explaining and also its nice not listening to some little 13 year old american kid explaining it lol. Thanks mate!!

  • Thanks for the video. I tried following this but my XP keeps coming up as a media device rather than a PC. Do you know any way around that?

  • @TheAtheistRising

Maybe if you take a look at your media player, go into media sharing on your library tab and turn media sharing off, it will not display as a media device in the future.
