  • good lucjk with your diet bro

  • I like your analogy there...but uh...

No Pagan rituals incorporated into Christian holidays, huh?

    There goes Christmas and Easter!

Interesting side note, I ALWAYS had a problem with the whole Easter Bunny/Santa Claus bits when I was a believer. I thought they were sacrilegious. And that was even before I knew their roots and how 12/25 was just the agreed to date to convert more believers from the Pagans.

  • As far as the party question, It depends on who was throwing it. Jesus would go to a sinners house for dinner and chastize the religous for throwing one. figu

  • Spiritual goatee reminds me of when a gay man doesn't want to be known as a homosexual and brings a woman along as his "date" or companion for an event. She is known as the gay man's "beard".

Good observation Chris, that we must step back from ourselves with introspect and see if we're hiding behind anything to excuse sin or compromise in our lives.

  • Hopefully this doesn't seem like a dumb question, but what are your thoughts on Valentines Day? I've heard some Christians say it's just a way to sell sex, or something like that. I don't really care either way, don't really need a holiday to remember I love my wife lol anyway great vid, good message.

  • God even knows the things no one on this planet knows about me. Not only because he is all knowning but because I believe he is the only one to share those things with. I tend to hide from people, I can't and wont hide from god though, I hope.

And I do agree that Jesus would probably not sugar coat events like Halloween. I really would like to see his reaction to trick or treating kids though. What would he tell them? Would he just give them candy as I did this Halloween? Would he correct them?

  • Chris,

Before you say anything as to my last comment, please watch this sermon by Paul Washer concerning basically our children's spiritual growth:

Educating, Training & Disciplining Your Children - Washer

Just copy that title above and search it, it should be uploaded by Tim Conway, also known as " I'll be honest ".

    GOD BLESS YOU

  • The Amish, men wear beards their sign of marriage, beards no mustache, they believe that, a mustache hides a persons face, and their honesty. Women wear bonnets their sign of marriage.Remember high fiber, lots of fresh fruit, and vegetables, cut out the high fats and high carbohydrates foods, and refined sugar. Walk, jog, 15-20 minutes a day, that will help.

  • Hey ChristoferL, The apostle Paul spoke of this thing. When he was talking about eating foods sacrificed to other gods. He said that WE know that the meat is just meat etc and that its meaningless to us. He says that if eating it was to cause a brother to stumble THEN he wouldnt eat it. This was a religious practise in the past also. Your paster knows Halloween is nothing to a god. If the world actually believed in some power in it, your pastor would probably stop with it. Maybe he is smarter

  • (2) what would you have said to the apostle Paul if you caught him eating foods sacrificed to idols? What would he have told you?

I dont 'celebrate' halloween at all mind you.

  • cjunk - meat sacrificed to idols IS meaningless - its just meat - celebrating and doing what the world is doing on a night dedicated to Satan (by most estimations) is diffferent - IMO... but hey - I could be wrong.

  • well its not dedicated to Satan by most estimations. Thats your belief and maybe you are correct. But no doubt christians saw the pagan religiious practise of meat dedicated to idols as also indirectly worshipping satan and no doubt Paul got the same objections which is why he is discussing it. we know meat is just meat, and candy is just candy. And Paul would have had to been part of the paegentry to have eaten the meat. It wasn't just normal meat bought from a market.

  • cjunk - lets say you're right and it isn't satanic to most - it certainly is causing others (myself for one) upset - and that should (have been) taken into account...

  • Well of course most people dont consider it satanic, which is why its accepted.

Maybe jesus would not have tossed the people out of that church.....maybe he would have just told you to not be like them and place no emphasis on such things. Like one who abstains from meat and one who doesn't. One who thinks sex is holy and one who thinks celebacy is holy. Surely there is more depth to truth than these things.

You know the bible does refer to Pagans as 'God fearers'.

  • cjunk - thats all well and dandy - except I am sure the pastor also believes in Satan as well as the world - both of which are not things we should be embracing in any way as followers of Christ... but with that said - I am hoping to have this convo with him soon - and I hope its on video - amen

  • Yeah the video would be very interesting to watch. Also would you have said that the apostle Paul was embracing the pagan religions by eating the food sacrificed to idols?? Like an atheist could eat it knowing that it has no real power, but some of us would not eat it if it was going to give the impression that we actually embrace the theology behind it.

Cant speak about your pastor, but then its beyond the pastor

Have thought of shaving of my goatee for the same reasons actually.

  • Embracing pagan religions? No. I don't believe Paul ever did that. And you're right - the sacrificial ritual had no power...

  • i heard its good to eat meat in the morning and excercise in the evening

  • nah man its best to work out way before you eat because that way your body is burning off fat and not just the food that you just ate

  • Halloween is once a year, so do you believe someone can participate in it every year & repent? Or can a homosexual have sex once a year & repent? Of course not, to keep doing it every year shows us there was no repentance...The things we know is against God's will, through his Spirit we "stop." I enjoy your videos & the way you approach holidays should be the same way we view ALL things that are against God's will.

  • Exactly HSD!

  • i spoke out about halloween and got flak for it.

one guy that im not sure what i think about at church even tried to argue in favor of halloween like it was something we were supposed to do.

but thats the same guy who said he thinks God may have used evolution so i don't worry about his opinion much. lol

  • Its a core issue exposed by Halloween - people want to dictate how God should dispense His grace - but in doing so they expose themselves as hypocrites...

  • I agree with you 100% .

  • "And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind." [12:29]

This verse is good when it's understood correctly, but when it's not, the result is FAT CHRISTIANS, and I see them A LOT! I don't know about you, Chris, but I MUST SAY I've been VERY concerned by seeing your children go with the same habits.

We often forget our decisions can affect those around us, too.

Don't stop eating! Eat wholesomely and keep the sabbath once a week!

    God bless.

  • ISC - Im not sure what you mean - but each child is unique and facing their own challenges and to be honest - I don't see them as children at this point - at least not spiritually - as they all know right from wrong and they are all making different choices... all I can do is pray, advise, and try to be an example of Christ...

  • Hey this is like what I'm doing on Thesockdock channel. Only I kept my gotee!! I'm addicted to my chin hair!! Someday I'll get shaved!

  • biggy - Im gonna have to check that out - I think I need an accountability partner - as I ate three fists today (I didn't skip lunch as I had planned)...

  • Chris,

It's always the lack of knowledge of the father that leads to family's spiritual corruption. After all, he's the head of the family.

We think we've the right to put the blame on our children when they disobey us... Think again. WHO ARE THE ONES WHO FIRST LETS THEM DISOBEY? The character of a child is normally formed at the age of 7-9. We let them actually MANIPULATE our families!

We don't train our children ===>

WE HAVE NO RIGHT TO BE ANGRY WITH THEM FOR OUR OWN MISTAKES!

  • I just started a workout routine about 3 weeks ago. I gotta a few spare tires to lose, but I am not gonna shave my goatee. It's a trademark :)

  • pm - all I can picture is a little tm to the right of your face now - lol

  • HalleluYAH Our Father.

Hey they don't keep the seventh day holy they keep a pagan sun god day. So why care about this Chris it all goes with each other.. And that is leaving the word of God and having pagan days to love..

    Brother Phil.

  • Phil - I guess I care because I am hoping to grow into a better relationship with them - not in spite of them...

  • HalleluYAH Our Father.

Mat 8:22 But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

Mat 15:1 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,

Mat 15:2 Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

Mat 15:3 But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

    Brother Phil.

  • Hey man, good on you. Nothing wrong with getting healthy. Your diet is really a very important thing. I'm a national grade cross country runner, I know what it's like to have to reign yourself in when you want to eat... But I firmly believe that it's more about what you eat and less about the amount that you eat. I eat insane amounts of food, I'm 6 feet tall and only 150 lbs... You're the man, Chris. Keep it up.

  • rugger - I used to be that way - and I would guess you've got a super high metabolism - like I used to - but I got laid up for about a yr after an accident and I've never been the same... now I am not looking to be what I was - but I am looking to change what I am - any and all advice is welcome.

  • I am like this now. Use to have %5 body fat, work like a machine then i got sacked (thankfully). since then the weight i pilling on, the desire to be physically active has slowed. Its terrible. So I just try to force myself back into dtuff. whats more difficult is finding others to play squash etc with.

  • Yeah man, when I shave I look like a little boy. lol. Peace and blessing in the Lord Jesus on your new action plan!

  • A Title can=pride

  • I'm cheering for you on your weight loss journey Brother!

  • I just learned in my bio class how all those diet things are bullcrap.

If you want to cut something down, start counting it. Like a budget helps keep control(and shows you) where your money is going, do it with food too until you're realizing where it's all going. Exercise and cut 250 calories a day from your recommended, you'll lose weight weekly... but you gotta change the workout up every month or two.

Good video Chris, wish people would realize the hypocrisy in sugar coating too.

  • Problems? Tsk the only problem you have is that your wife cooks very well and yes you think tooooo much (I am often accused of this by my close circle of friends. You know it is sincerely good to see back in a more analytical frame of mind. I like the book of Tim and James, I also like Acts I really enjoy these books particularly in the bible. The songs of Solomon are decadently and mellifluously affecting also.

  • Of course I am not a Christian but I am able to spot a good bloke more often than not I enjoy your sincerity Chris a rare thing in circles Christian... or any other come to think of it. So, have a lovely day! Kind regards to you and that lovely wife of yours. I am sure [she] is a good and great gift to any community she is involved in.

  • gotta cut down on your eggs bro !

  • agreed - today started with one egg - 2 strips of bacon - and no english muffins...

  • "english muffins" ! lol. 2 strips of bacon? I thought you were serious about this diet. :-)
