This is basically a bifocal with an on/off switch for the near/reader zone of the lens; they've combined this with a mild progressive in the "base" lens so they can claim "near, far, and in between." But the focus is NOT adjustable, so calling it "Electronic FOCUSING" eyewear is at best misleading and dishonest. Sorry - at $1K+ (and spend that again if prescription changes!?), I'm unimpressed. Hopefully they'll use this tech to do something more useful in the near future.
Find emPower! emPower in Walnut Creek & Lafayette, CA (San Francisco's East Bay) - Art and Science of Eyewear. Demonstrations available; no appointment necessary. The owner / Chief Optician has ordered a pair, too. Expect comments in their blog about one woman's real-world use of these very cool electronic eyeglasses.

I hate progressive lenses ... but i am not sure this is a good solution. They look better than Trufocals though.
Is the near-vision only in the bottom part of the lens? if so I don't really like that - how is that different from a progressive.
