Y'know, I love FDR's presidency. Hell, I wish I could have lived during his time in office, hell, I'd love to have had a smoke with the man or a drink. I think it's utterly astounding that people want to destroy this man's legacy. Yet, almost NO ONE even knows of the Business Plot of 1933 [White House Putsch or Plot against FDR as it was also known].

FDR was a great man who brought us out of the Great Depression and onto victory in WWII and prosperity.

As a leader, he is up there with Washington and Lincoln.

@GeorgeVreelandHill I agree with you. In my view, the two greatest Presidents were Lincoln and Franklin Roosevelt, in that order. Lincoln saved the Union at a time when no one else could have. Roosevelt inspired hope during the Depression and prevented a Communist revolution and had the foresight to recognize the threat that Hitler posed to the world. My father lived during the Great Depression, and he always said, unless you lived through it, "you had no right to criticize Mr. Roosevelt."

The country absolutely loved Franklin Roosevent and with very good reason! Yet within 5 years Republicans were telling the country he was a traitor. The McCarthy phenomenon was primarily to destroy the Roosevelt legacy, and tragically it succeeded. American has spiraled down from that day to this, betraying everything FDR stood for.
