nice work guys those old civl war type trains play a great part of us history i one lionel train set with the #1872 4-4-0 the name of the set is called the 5 star general outfit #2528ws they were made from 1959 to 1962 the paper work in the set i have dates 11-59
Hi Guys, Yes, the railroad is DCC. You have to use N-gauge decoders in tenders. There are a few books out there with plans/drawings/pictures of Civil War Railroads (ie. Civil War Railroads & Models by Bill Alexander). You can also look at the Civil War photo books for ideas and scenes (ie. Civil War Railroads by G. Abdill)
Awesome! It's so rare to see a layout set during the Civil War, but to find one from the South is nearly impossible. Actually this is one of only two I have ever seen, compared to around 2 dozen yankee roads. Fantastic work, I'd love to visit someday!
Great! Now you just need "Tara" and the layout is perfect! While watching the railroad scenes in "Gone with the wind" I also had the idea to build a Old South themed layout, but never did that because there is so much work to do! Again, great layout and beautiful trains!

Cool, but it would have been nice to see trains running through that great scenery.

Is there a source of drawings for US Civil War era locomotives and rolling stock?

Amazing layout. Saw in MRC. Why did you pick the South rather then the North?
rhbeadlejr 2 years ago
Same reason the yankees picked it, prolly!
