Its kind of shame that most people would label this as junk. But on the other hand i think its great its not popular because it takes a person with real soul to be able to understand this. im 16 years old and i wish more kids my age loved his stuff. John is the Jimi Hendrix of my generation and i hope he starts to get the recognition he deserves.
Never before has a man's music, speech, thoughts, and soul touched my heart and made me cry like this man's. I feel honored that I was born into a world where this man exists and his music can be heard by millions. Thank you John Frusciante.
This is genuinely such a lovely song, not by conventional standards but when you just tilt back and turn on the empathy and lose yourself, holy shit is this a song
i love all john's stuff but can relate the most to all niandra and smile from songs...and this song-it needs no words as it's emotion put across can be interpreted in whatever way by any individual.
@weekendchannel2 not really, maybe a loop to reverse the solos ( or maybe this is done on post-processing). usually a plain overdrive or no effects - on most of niandra he didnt use anything, also on most of t-shirt.
just purchased this album for $95. defiantly worth the money. sadly, $95 was the cheapest i could find for the original album. still, this is a masterpiece. you can't put a price on John's work.
Hey if anyone ever gets the chance, watch some of my videos. I have 2 up right now. I am very inspired by Frusciante, especially his solo work. So please if you ever get the chance watch them and tell me what you think. Try not to be harsh im only a beginner.
Incredible song, his entire discography takes you on a deep journey. John is the type of artist i would say his music doesn't come from his mind, but from his consciousness.
everytime i listen to this album my family thinks its terrible. I dont understand how someone could not see the beauty in this. John Frusciante = genious
@iDaZeGB i totally agree with you. its a select few that can realize how wonderful it is. most people are so caught up in what music is popular and what everybody else is listening to that they don't take the time to discover real music that evokes emotions, and is deeper than just another good sounding song
i think the 'problem' is that many people don't care much about music to begin with. i don't know if that is wrong, but it's the way it is. people who don't care much about music will only experience the most intrusive music, i.e. the most advertised/played music. will always be this way.
this was among the first albums i listened to when i started to really listen to music around when i was 14 years old...and 10 years later this still penetrates me like nothing else.
nothing is true every thing is permitted what i am trying to say because he was on drugs doesnt mean it was really bad only ppl who say its bad are people in hospital if you dont foloow them you die but why is dead so bad because ppl say it is you dont know so why should ppl know that are alive know what is is to be death
the bad times make us who we are so you wouldnt have the fortune to enjoy his later stuff if it wasnt for the pain and suffering he went through ............ i still dont understand why drugs affect what people say about the MUSIC this is a beatuifull song , and well ......... apreciate it for what it is ..........peace guys ... tute a joint for me X }
why do pple say shit like "o man this is such a bad part of his life, so sad him making such music" fahk i think its pretty great stuff and its just like an outlet he would probably hav made this for himself just from his creativity ,,,,stop feelin sorry for him n bringing up all his drug use when you hear sweet music haha
its weird that people feel bad for him...ok most of us wouldnt like to be in such a terrible physical condition (money, lungs, mental or whatever) but he says he is not sorry...he learned from it he says, and wouldnt even call it a bad experience.
I do see your point,in fact, makes a lot of sense... I think some people feel bad for him cause, you know, we kinda worship John. And we don't like to see someone that we worship that much in that condition, you know ? The important thing is the now, don't you agree ?
So true, although it had awful consequences like you said, he actually gained such an amazing view on life and creativity etc. In all the videos, if you listen to the things he says, they are mind blowing. Still so much better that he recovered though and managed to get away and have it as an experience, kind of a miracle.
i recorded this exact song like 20 sec worth of it. recorded the main part then did the backwards guitar. its so much fun and it sounds cool. such a beautiful song...
its actually his line 6 delay it comes with a reverse effect on it bc its so complex tryin 2 record then reverseing it...with that line 6 he spends alot of time playing with it so he knows how 2 get what sound he wants out of it
he didnt even have his line 6 in this era. this was when he was on herion. he recorded with cassette and its easy to reverse something on cassette, just reverse the tape and you have reverse recording.
i no that was his herion era go look at ne video an take a good look at his set up u can clearly see the line 6 delay...check your shit before u think u no wat ur talkin about
do you no what your talking about he didnt even have the line 6 when he recorded this. it was later after he recorded this that he got it. he didnt have it in the californication era and that was in 98-99. in the by the way era he had it on his pedalboard. i would no i made a video about his effects.
what he means is that it is literally a track played in reverse.... so some of the track is played normal and the violin-sounding stuff is what is a reverse track.. he uses is extensively.. listen to Ramparts by john.. my favorite track where he uses reverse effect. Sometimes like in Venice Queen (RHCP) it sounds like a reverse effect but he does that by messing with the volume knob with his pinky as he plays...
to record this whole thing pre1994 is amazing. He probably spent hours and hours working the tapes and adding layers. Amazing what people can do with a few guitars, an amp, and a tape recorder. True expression.
I nkow this comment is like 3 months old but I fifgured I more than likely did not have a high tech thing back when this was recorded. It was alot of tape manipulation just messing around with a reel to reel tape recorder and reversing the trcks and he used some dely on the album to for his vocals like on Running Away Into You. Wow. I have never heard anything like this. Amazing. The electric guitar part sounds like spiritual voices. Spooky and Beautiful at the same time. Mr. Frusciante is one extremely talented human being.
I don't find this song scary but I think this was definately one of the darkest times of Johns life and you can understand what he's feeling by this music...atleast thats what I think
I was referring to Frusciante's comments in the VPRO documentary :). And I agree with what he said, but more in the sense that it has the sense that it was made by a true artist, someone dedicated and wanting to do nothing but express themselves purely.
I first heard this song when I downloaded Stuff a few years back, not knowing it was actually Frusciante and actually on an album until a while later... ever since, I've been hooked with the untitleds...
i never really found the song to be scary in a horror movie kind of way, but I always thought that it conveyed some pretty scary emotions, if that makes sense... it expresses more sadness to me than most blues songs... but maybe that's just because the context I see it in...
i have a playlist that is called untitled #2 on repeat aw yes
