People, I totally agree with you with the use of a guy that checks on a tv set if the ball entered or not. In 30 seconds the decision would be taken and the goal would have been allowed. But the problem still persists because faked penalties and unfair red cards cannot be protested with technology. Fifa is corrupt and they're always willing to give a penalty for Germany, Italy or the host nation. So how can you protest with video that the penalty was faked? Same goes for harsh red cards.
Despite the foul of the the referee's, (indirectly the FIFA for not having video-aid on the fields), Germany deserved the win this match. I'm English. What's gone wrong with football? France qualified thanks to an obvious handball. USA's goal against Slovenia was good so was England's against Germany. We've got the technology now to to get a fair result. Why don't we use it?

Buy a copy of the 1970 Brazil v England match. Every single english player had a perfect 1st touch, comfartable on the ball & no such thing as panic stations. Disallowed or not, England would have never won this game. You can't win a game if you depend that much on individuals. Rooney had to go to the midfield to get the ball, no short passes, no teamplay, nothing. Capello is well known for his "non-agressive" aproach and he's the most expensive menager in the World Cup. If you wanted to pay big, you should have brought Hiddink or Guardiola instead.

Modernisation, you mean goal line technology. That's bull, do what the GAA do & have a man to the side of each post, that will sort it. England need to modernise the way they play football. They could start with learning how to control the ball (first touch) pass the ball hopefully to one of ther own players, like every other team in the world cup try. I had the good fortune to be in Ireland for the match & watched it on RTE1 their national TV Station. Johnny Giles, Osie Ardiles & Eamon Dunphy being the pundits, so no bullshit like the BBC panel who have to lie through their teeth incase they lose their well paid jobs talking bollocks. England are crap, same old shit long ball football, no crisp passing, players played out of position, because they don't have the ability to adapt when the pressure is on. No play maker in midfield.
