  • @supermario3459 another problem. when i inserted the sequence : THE MUSIC ISN'T CHANGED !

  • i made team fortress 2 64!

  • My mind, i'm losing it. This fucking program, SO FUCKING CONFUSING.

  • Hey does this work for sounds, too?

  • @godofchaos606 No,it works on only musics.

  • Hey do u think u could help my problem, whenevr I type in insert_seq [Song name.mid.mml.mml.m64] [Rom name.z64] 30 it says "Invalid sequance number" wat am I doing wrong!?

  • I dont get how to use it

  • I sended you a PM about the problems with both inserting levels and music, but I might as well post about my music problem:

I'm having some problems inserting my custom to my extended ROM.

Whenever I insert custom music into my extended ROM, Project 64 refuses to open up the ROM. Is there something that I'm doing wrong?

BTW, my ROM was Super Mario 64 (U) [!] before it was extended.

The music is Hot Top Volcano from Diddy Kong Racing:

  • My bad, I mean Im having the same problem as lightspeed97. Whenever I put in a my mml file into mml2m64, it can produce a .m64 file. But when I try to produce a .zseq file with command prompt and with the "-zelda" argument, the program responds with "mml2m64.exe has stopped working" . I even tried to get a .m64 form the victory.mml file and it would not work even with a name change. Either I'm doing something wrong or maybe my OS is causing this. I'm using Windows Vista OS 32 bit.

  • when i open the insert_seq, i cant change any typing cause it comes up as a window w/ black bg and white text ( i belive that is called a command window) what do i do? (ill take an answer from anybody)

  • I'm having a problem with this. I want to insert the Bianco Hills music into SM64. I put it into TinyMM and then put what came out of it into the TinyMM fix. Then, when I try putting that into the mml2m64, it says "mml2m64.exe has stopped working." What am I doing wrong?

  • Next time you do this, could it be in a windowed mode? I can't seem to get the last part to work (importing it into the ROM) And I would enjoy it if it was setup in an even easier windowed file.

  • when ever i try to get the inserter to insert a song into the rom it keeps telling me there was an error while opening the sequence.

  • fruaber do you mind if i make a video tutorial on using your mml2m64.exe?

  • he said feel free to do so.

  • I have a problem...

I have tried different midi's but in game the music plays only in right speaker. But I can still hear Mario's sounds from both speakers. :o

  • It was a bug because I understood the "pan" (balance between left and right outputs) command wrong. Whenever I work again on this program I"ll try to fix that.

  • Hey, is it possible to make a 'Tetris' mario game, where blocks fall from the sky? I would love to see a level like that, or another full hack called something like: Back to the basic games, or something!!! Can you please get back to me on whether it would be possible?

  • Hey, Could you please make it possible to replace songs in the next version of this?

  • uh, When I try this all it does is get rid of the music.

  • Whenever I try to type a command in the "insert_seq.exe", it just closes the window. Help?

  • You have to run it through the command prompt. Here's the easiest way if you are unsure about it:

1 - Copy cmd.exe from your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory into the same directory as mml2m64. Have the .m64 file and the ROM in the same directory.

2 - Rename your ROM to a simple name, like "mario.z64". Do the same for your .m64 file, ie, "song.m64".

3 - Double click on the cmd.exe from the mml2m64 folder and it will start in the right directory. Now just type

    insert_seq song.m64 mario.z64 -all

  • Thanks, worked great. :)

By the way, there is a limit to how long a song can be, right? I inserted a midi song (Not realizing it was 4 minutes long) and it worked at the title screen and file select. However, a few moments after entering the castle with the music working fine, everything just mutes. Entering a painting/door to other part of castle freezes the game onto black screen.

  • if black screen not freezes but crashes

  • I think that has to do with the complexity of the song and the number of instruments that are played in the song.

Frauber will probably fix that. One day... D:

  • Mr.Gimmick kicks ass!

  • Oh, and all of the files are in the same folder.

  • Ok, I can get the thing running the the command prompt, but whenever I type in "insert_seq blahblah.m64 rom.z64 12" it says that insert_seq is an invalid command

    Why?

  • Seems like you aren't in the same folder as the insert_seq program. Lets say you have unpacked mml2m64 to C:\mml2m64. Save your ROM and .m64 file there, then run the command prompt and type:

    cd \mml2m64

    insert_seq blah.m64 rom.z64 12

  • All right, I did that, and now it's saying it's an invalid sequence number when I type in thing such as "17" or "-all" at the end

    Here's exactly what I'm inputting:

    - I paste in "C:\Users\[my name]\Downloads\SM64\insert_seq.exe" (I modified my cmd prompt to make it accept things like that)

    - Then your inserter program comes up.

    - Then I type in "C:\Users\[my name]\Downloads\SM64\insert_seq Map.m64 Super Ext 64.z64 17" and it doesn't go

    So, what's going on? D:

  • I guess insert_seq is complaining about the " after 17.

    Try doing this:

    C:\Users\[my name]\Downloads\SM64\insert_seq" Map.m64 SuperExt.z64 17

  • can't wait for mario kart!

  • oh shit.

Mario Kart 64 + Ridge Racer 64 music would RULE.

  • Every time I try to import a song into the game I get "Error opening sequence file" what do I have to do?

  • Most likely, you typed an inexistent or invalid sequence file name. Also, make sure the sequence file and the ROM are in the same folder as insert_seq.

If your sequence or ROM file name has space or different carachters, just rename them to simple filenames such as mysequence.m64 and mario.z64

  • I already had them both in the same folder but I will try renaming them.

  • Well, I tried what you said and it still didn't work. It might be my computer. Is this compatible with Vista?

  • it works for me, and i have vista.

  • I haven't tested it on Vista, but I'm pretty sure there shouldn't be any problem. Be sure you have entered the correct file order:

    insert_seq sequence.m64 rom.z64 -all (or number)

  • I have finally figured out how this works and will try to make a video guide. It may not be as advanced as your tutorial though, just the basic running of it.

  • That would be great.

  • thanks frauber I it all works on mml2m64

    this program is great

    5/5 rated 5/5 fav

  • AWESOME

    You are unbeleevably awesome!!!!

  • Awesome. Can we dump songs/instrument samples from one game and import into another?

  • "Gimmick" Boss Theme! Nice pick!

Seriously dude, you molest SM64 like no other hacker. You are god.

  • Sounds good. Great job, Frauber.

  • I am trying to use the command prompt, but after i put where the sequencer is, it opens it and when i start to type, goes out of the sequencer and back into command prompt., what do i type to run the program?

  • nevermind, i found out how to run the program, now i just need to change the channels.

  • Wait! How'd you get it to work? It does the same thing to me.

  • Closes whenever I type, that is.

  • The Sonic 3 Menu Theme would sound awesome SM64-ized :D

  • Zelda 64 as in OoT?

  • Yeah, that is it's beta name.

  • oh. ok then. cool. i'll remember that if i hear it again anywhere.

  • just 2 questions:

the midi it's imported as text or what? and

can you please make a mac version?

  • It import .mml files, which can be produced from MIDI files.

Next versions will include also mml2m64 source code, so probably someone will be able to do a Mac port without many problems, or maybe an online version :P.

  • Cool

  • so it's out?

  • Cool..looks fun :D

I there a way to insert Video Sequences to the Games? Probably not^^

  • nice

  • cool

  • Awesome.
