  • wonderful chords

  • I love these videos, mgellar. You've filmed some of the true masters of the art form of strings. One suggestion, get a better grade mic on your camera or mic it separately. You loose the brilliance of the subtly with all that white noise and unintentional distortion

  • @pickinstone

Thanks! This was one of the first classes that we were streaming live, and the recording was captured from that. Issues with streaming degraded the quality, and each Master was experimenting. The audio/video quality of most other classes is much better. The content of Sid's is so good, it is still worthwhile, even with the audio quality poor.

  • What´s the name of this Bill Evan´s tune?

Great lesson... I´m going to buy it...

  • @rdlubi My Bells

  • Absolutely beautiful, Sid. You taught me at Berklee Summer sessions a few years back, and really blew my mind. Your chordal work here is beautiful man, killin.

  • stephen anderson is another guy with an entire cd of bill evans on itunes.....check him out as well.....i believe he lived with Lenny Breu for a while

  • nearly as good as spanky

  • Ohhhh myyyy this is mmmmmmmmm :)

  • Fantastic! Definitely a Lenny Breau sort o' thing going on there. Lovely harmonies!

  • to clear up any confusion this is a video of guitarist, Sid Jacobs, playing the music of the piano player and modal jazz pioneer Bill Evans

  • Man...Those were just some really sweet voicings.I've learned a couple of Bill's tunes, and I know it's hard to find some proper vocings to fit the harmony and the melody.I bet that your video lesson would just blow my mind, haha.

  • Don't mean to sound dumb but are you Sid or Bill?

If you are Sid, I like your book on Jazz lines and Phrases. (Mel Bay) Pretty useful concepts.

I just started getting into Jazz.

I really don't get the Madness, inside out pentatonics or the Craft. At least I don't see how to use them melodically....Can you help?

Without genetic manipulation evolving my DNA...lol Sorry, but I feel like a Cave Man...

  • Bill's dead, man :(

  • @sleeepingpills no shit man what's that supposed to mean? your a real comic

  • @MrMelodius1 someone asked if he was dead that was his answer

  • No it isn't funny man!

  • This guy in the video, Bill, is dead now? That's so sad. He's a great pianist!

  • @awesomewelles90 The guy in the video is Sid Jacobs, he's not dead, he's my teacher @ MI.

  • everything can be transposed, just have to change the tuning =D

  • That harmony just blew my mind!

  • hey man, like look like, dig

  • Freakin' amazing! Sid looks back and can't even see anyone he's so far ahead.

  • man, thats f*ckin ridiculous. Such a unique sound. He should be up there with bill frissel

  • Wonderful stuff. I hear BE here like sunshine through a fragrant green forest. Wow.

  • Sid, you are beautiful cat. I miss hanging with you.
