As someone who is attending mass regularly and raising my children catholic, I really do appreciate the work the catholic league does and I normally side with them...but this is silly. I'm going to have to defend Huckabee here.

First, the cross is a cross. A bookshelf is shaped like a crucifix if strategically blocked and shadowed in the shot to resemble one.

Second, the issue is not whether or not Huck is a Christian. The issue is that he is exploiting Christianity for votes

The problem is that if you don't pay attention to the fact that is is (supposed) to be a window. then it looks just like a cross...where is the border of the window then? Subliminal is the problem, when someone remembers this ad they will vaguely recall what he said, and the location. ANd will get warm fuzzy feelings about it.

The issue is that he LIED about it. He lied about his Christ-filled campaign ad when he was asked if it was intentional.

Integrity and religious faith would have called on him to speak the truth when ppl asked if it was intentional. He could have just said "yep, I wanted the cross in my ad because I'm a Christian."
