Anyone who thinks sex would even be possible in a fursuit, has never seen one up close. There really aren't any holes there.

@amythemistcat Um.... it IS possible to have sex in fursuit, and it DOES happen. It's not something all fursuiters do, and it's not for everyone, but it most definitely happens. Doesn't ruin the suit, either.

Nothing wrong with having sex in fursuit if that's what floats your boat.

No one has ever taken offense, or been offensive, to me, while I'm in my fursuit, in person. Trolls are just people on teh internets making stupid comments to get people like YOU riled up, and people like YOU give them what they want. They don't care about furries, they just want to piss you off.

I'm not part of the furry fandom, however as a psychology graduate student I've always held a certain curiosity for furries. Not to imply that there is anything psychologically wrong with furries, but I simply wish to know what factors contribute to their interest in anthropomorphic animals. Like all human interests, generally they begin somewhere and I am simply curious as to from whence this interest came.

Anyone care to try and quench my curiosity?

I think that a lot of the flaws of human nature result from living in large impersonal highly populated areas. People living in smaller collectivist cultures (people strive for the good of the whole group, not for their individual gain) tend to be more generous, more altruistic and less violent. Even animals behave in antisocial ways when you put them in crowded areas. Just a thought

Ok... MY definition of furry:

Furries are people who celebrate animals artistically. Not all furries are in for the sex. They are just the most publicized ones. What's more interesting, a person who likes wearing animal costumes or a person who likes to wear animal costumes while having sex? Anyways, I believe yiff, or furry sex, is wrong. But I DO like dressing up in my costumes and performing.Movies from disney, popular books, all these deal with furry. If that animal talks, it's a furry!

(for me) it starts when you realise the world we live in is borng and normal and you want to get to somewhere where things are diffeent and fun. i went to animals and the weird and wonderful variety then to mythical animals, until i 'were' animals which lead onto furries.

I'm not sure exactly what got me interested.. but the majority of furries may have been influenced by certain cartoon characters and personification of animals in stories and shows.  Anthropomorphic animals are nothing new, they've been around for a very long time (IE, Anubis).

It's not all about fursuits. It's just for people who are fans of anthro animals. Most people don't fursuit at all. I think it's like... 10 percent of anthrocon attendees are fursuiters. How old are you? If you can find one thats local I'm sure you could get your parents to take you. It's no worse than an anime convention and kids go to those all the time.

Some people use it as a fetish, but that's a VERY small percentage. Fursuiting is really just about dressing up and having fun, just like most other costumes. It's a community thing, too, like anime cons XD
