Think about what political statements about society usually connote, or think about sociology's stronger tenets. Timeless doesn't really come to mind. That's not to say Hendrix didn't connect with anything, lyrically or musically. I just object to your use of politics and society in this particular context.
You have every right to love Hendrix but that has nothing to do with contributions to guitar playing.
And comments about worthiness based on lyrics are not valid at all. Music is just that - music. It is note based. And that is what I value. Lyrics can be simple if the tune rocks. If the tune sucks, then no amount of great lyrics will save it.
With all due respect you're talking irrelevant crap and over estimating Hendrix. And besides, what lyrics a band writes has no bearing whatsoever on a) whether they're better or b) the guitarist in the band.
And if you want timeless socio political statements, other arts did it better than rock music.
This was actually October 1991 before Freddie died, was promoting Expo 1992 in Seville. Who would have though little Porkie Paul Rodgers would be singing for Queen 14 years later!

Hi Ben, the bass was a red Aria Integra with Bartolini pickups and circuit. It's now in the Hard Rock Cafe in Atlanta.

Talk about a power lineup!
And posted by Neil Murray...now there's an underrated bass played if there ever was one.
Early Whitesnake to Cozy Powell solo albums to Gary Moore....and then to find this with Vai, Satriani and May.. what a find!
Also, you were with Holdsworth!?! When was this? And what recordings did this happen on?
Thanks for posting. You are phenomenal!

Best guitarist ever is Edward Van Halen.

Pity Nuno didn't get more space to show his skills. Every solo is done by Satch or steve but nuno deserves than he got.

Correction: as Sean2689 rightly pointed out, this Guitar Legends show was 19 October 1991, not 1992. My apologies - I should have checked!
