hey man. i have logic express 7, so i have the exsp24 and not exs24. does that mean i'm unable to create my own samples with my own audio? with the exsp24 is it only possible to use their library of prerecorded samples? thanks.
Man I can remember having Emagic logic audio silver 4.8 and $300 was the price. While the exs24 mk1 was $250. Now the whole shit is $400. Damn times change.
hey please help me,, can i play a midi controller through a sound module and then play it like a regular piano through the PA. If not what can I do to put it through a PA? is it possible?
Thats not hard, thats easy! It is really rewardsing building your own sample library / sounf font. You don't have to sample across so few keys, I recorded my own voice with one note per octave and it worked in the mix. Solo it was somewhat of an aquirred taste(!)
I want to improve the sound of my keyboard using the program of Sampletekk and EXS 24. Would you please give me some indication how to do this? Do I need an USB Audio Interface or extra Hardware?
Its really all about the sounds for sure like he said. If you need any samples for your MPC or MV, I have over 1900 titles in all formats-akai-emu-wav-acid loops-etc and also 750gb hard drives full of sounds. Theres also a 750gb Program Drive for both Mac and PC with all the best RTAS-VST-AU instruments out.
Email me at pcosxtech @ yahoo for the list or check these screen shots of the drives to see how they are arranged.
i need some help, i want to get logic express, but like he says it has exsp 24 rather than exs 24 which i have tried and loved! would i still have that big list of great instruments? and what makes the exs 24 actually better.
whats up ya i updates from logic express 8 to pro and i have both applications pro and express does anyone know if i still need express to keep using pro without issues? thanks you
I get how to load samples up and all that jazz but how do you chop the sample into regions so u can play it out on your midi keyboard like you would do on an mpc 1000. i guess my question is can you sample the same way you do on an mpc 1000 inside of logic ?
If your not using Recycle, you'll have to take the audio region you want to chop, and chop it manually. Just throw it on an audio track and chop it up, save each file individually.
Once you've done that, you can create a new instrument in EXS and Import multiple files. Once imported, they can be moved around to specific key, and parameters can be adjusted.
I record my drumbeats by playing MPC type pads on my controller using EXS. For more detailed instructions on importing, manual should help
what an earth are u going on about?how can u consider a sample a substitute to an oscillator?samples are binary!oscillators are hardware coils that regulate tension, nothing to do with eproms.a digital sample undergoes a voltage conversion in order to transform it into audio signals, with samples u obtain different tones by speed variation,i clicked cos i was hoping to learn something.
i dont understand how to sample with logic tho. i mean i know how to take samples from audio files. but how would i sample from vinyl etc....using this sampler...? please explain
you have to record them to WAV then click "edit" on the right then create new instrument. it takes time to map out the different pitches and how loud each sound is but it works well. i did it with a timpani for my music technology A-level piece.
Theirs something like a PC version of logic only its a totally different program but same grade with plugins like EXS. Its FL Studio. Just search it. Same grade as Logic :)
when making your own sample, and zones and everything when i do just one zone at a time the momment i let go of the note the sample finishes, when i do load mulitple samples it leaves them all going untill the audio wave i did finishes :( is there anyway way i can make it stop the momment i let go of the key but leave a little reverb not just CUT thanks alot
The ES2 is definitely my go to synth. Absolutely fits the bill in every situation. I used to own an Alesis Andromeda, but sold it after I started using the ES2.
This is Logic in the video, the Apple version owned and release by Apple. Your version is by eMagic, before Apple bought them and is a much earlier version, so it would not have these instruments.
whats the exact name of the program you are using on the video? is it the same for pc? i got the logic platinum and the exsp24 installed but i got no luck finding the instruments... how can I put it to work?
Your bootleg Windows version of Logic is not even close to the same dynamic program that it became after Apple bought it and directed its modification. I used to call it "Illogic" when it was pre-Apple. Not anymore.
hey mate, i just got logic, and im learning from scratch. i have a question, using logic, what kind of hard wear will i NEED to use any kind of instruments, or write any kind of music in logic. i mean midis obviously something im going to consider. i have a keyboard. and im hoping to get protools soon, and using that as my midi device etc. etc...um can ya help me...
A MIDI keyboard controller will allow you to play any software instrument from Logic within the software. You'll need some kind of audio recording input/output hardware, from something simple like a two-channel device from M-Audio or Mackie, if you want to use XLR microphones and balanced inputs and outputs. You can also simply plug into the ins and outs of your Mac, though that's not the best choice, it will work.
Thanks your hair was really helpful.

If you want to chop a drum loop into its beats and you use them in the EXS -
1) Get RECYCLE from PROPELLERHEADS and create a rex file. You can extract a midi file from this to trigger the slices.
Then on the EXS options menu you can convert the REX into an EXS program.
The Midi file will then trigger the slices in the EXS.
There is more flexibility in this approach than using apple loops as you can use the EXS synthesis engine to modify the slices (envelopes etc)
Hope this has been of help
