  • beautiful!

  • That is gorgeous :-)

  • Wow. Blew my mind!

  • Great japan music

  • Its a credible version of the original, with even more of a true Japanese emotion to it. Very nice indeed. I love both versions equally. Music for the soul.

  • This music is my total heart.

  • Where's this bridge?

  • I love Ryuichi's, Utada's and Rin's versions.! Amazingg. <333

  • I love Japan they have some Awesome Musicians like Rin or Rythem

  • God bless the parents who "made" the genius of this music! :)

  • Very sweet and pure version of it. Utada could sing with this and probably make it a better remix.

  • I Love Ryuichi's, Utada's and now Rin's Versions!

  • One of the main Japanese guards tried to master saying the words, MERRY CHRISTMAS MR LAWRENCE. At the ene of the film he manages to say these words to the english officer who taught him from his prison cell, on the day before he is due to be executed for his war crimes. A very moving and emotional film, All the music in the film is written and composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto

  • This piece of music has been my most favourite, since i first seen the film, Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence,i have most probably listened to maybe 100 variations.A reply to brandyzong,The film is a piece of art, depicting the relationships between Japanese prisioner of war guards, and their English and Australian prisioners. Try and get a copy of this film if you can.after watching it,this music stayed in my mind forever.

  • 0.0 Hikaru Utada sings a version of this. Love it.

  • why is the name called Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence ?

  • Outher space music! Magnifficent! Rin ichiban!

  • special, very special. thank you brothers

  • Japanese music speaks to my heart profoundly, one of my dreams is to be listening to this doing Thai chi on the mountains with a Japanese sensai. All of that colour my friend ...

  • @fannysludge You described a perfect day

  • @fannysludge lol

that was what i was thinking of too

  • I still like Rin's version better than the original piano version.

  • Rin's version is beautiful!!

  • brings me back memories...Great arrangement!

  • Has anyone noticed there's no dislikes for this video? It's that awesome.

  • Love this Version of Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence. It sounds like Hiroshima somewhat. The first time i heard this I cried . Beautiful

  • It's lovely

  • Does anybody know the instrument played in this one? It kinda sounds like a shamisen but I'm not sure...

  • @IshidaChosokabe It's mainly a KOTO (japanese 13 string harp/zither) playing. Then the shakuhachi (bamboo flute) joins in. Rin' do play shamisen sometimes, but I don't here one on this track.

  • Of all the version's; this is my favorite.

  • nice version

  • i think i've heard this from somewhere

  • I love this song. It's now one of my favorites of all time.

  • I loved it, thanks for posting this^\\^

  • whoa tis version is great!...sound so traditional...i love it!!...=]

  • 100% agreed!

  • WOW !!!

  • Rin' is so great. Every time I listen to this music, I feel like I'm flying. So sad but also very beautiful.

  • I love both version of this song ! Awesome!

  • Rin always does a great job making beautiful music. Sakura Sakura is another fav of mine of hers

  • I've only heard Utada Hikaru's "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence - FYI" version done by Sakamoto Ryuichi and I always thought it was just a part of her song, but I never knew it had history behind it. I wonder what the reason behind the title of the song is?

  • @kianmako Ryuichi wrote the song for the movie with the same name

  • *I love this fantastic song! This is my favorite of all beautiful japanese songs. n_n!

  • this music is sweet and calm... makes me tear of happyness, and I don t know why,,,, wierd...

  • rin' knows how to spoil my ears....

  • First, Rin's and the screen version are very beautiful.

Second, the screen version starts with a very eastern sound, but ends in a western sound, musically depicting the rise of the Japanese Empire, then its defeat by the west.

In Rin's version, it starts out with a very eastern sound, and ends with a very eastern sound....

Perhaps Rin knows who actually won that war...

  • Ahhh, this version is beautifully done.

    As expected from Rin'.

  • omg, how many version there have for Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence?

  • Comment removed

  • TRAN CAN COOK loves this sooo much!!

  • I have all the versions of this song now. This is so peaceful and beautiful.

  • Can you list all the versions?

  • a revelation

  • And I must say: this interpretation is better than the original version!

  • "Merry christmas Mr. Lawrence" was the film (1993) to which this was the soundtrack. So Rin' calles this title just like the film - malgré que ce soit l'interprétation de la composition de Ryuichi Skamoto. Excuse my english!

  • hmm. your right! i though i heard this song before!!

  • oh! utada hikaru used this tune in her song! i was wondering why she named it merry christmas mr. lawrence, to think that she used rin''s original song!

  • Eh... It's not rin's original, the original was composed by Ryuichi Sakamoto.

  • In which song?

  • lalala, this tune make me feel like want singing

  • whys it called merry christmas mr lawrence? was it in the film?

  • relax..........

  • oh...could you plz tell me where did u find that pic..?

  • i also want to noe where u got da pic from! plz and thanx u

  • they could have used just some soft bass for the song... hmm

  • so calming :)

  • i don't know why, but this song makes me think in El viaje de Chihiro (Spirited away)

  • Ookini!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Agreed on that one. I've always love Rin' since I first heard them back in 2004....I have all their albums and songs....

  • Interesting :)

  • waw so relaxing and beautifull
