@redletter2008 she entered betty ford november 1st of '86 and was there for 28 days. she did have other songs that were considered for TITN like: "juliet", "what has rock n roll ever done for you" & "joan of arc" along with "seven wonders", "when i see you again" and "welcome to the room...sara". since this is about being at betty ford, i am guessing it was recorded in december '86.
Best Singer i ever heard .! She knows how to dress as welland she has a tuff appearance in her style .... she will always be the best young vocalist and dresser ......
@Wench098 Thank you for the explanation -- for years I've had absolutely no idea what she was talking about. Now it's so obvious that it is a reference to her stint at Betty Ford. I appreciate this song much more. Thank you again!
@bernlin2000 ~She actually wrote this AFTER rehab and its about rehab. She checked in under the name Sara ~she was "invited" to rehab by Frontline Records. Really forced and the song is all about this experience. Written like only Stevie writes~with lots of hidden references. Keeps us on our toes figuring out her songs. Thanks for commenting :)
@Wench098 Do you know exactly when Stevie was at Betty Ford. I thought it was in late '86 (after Rock A Little tour ended). Supposedly she wrote this song after her stint there. Tango in the Night was released in March '87, - so this song must have been a very late entry for consideration. If so, Stevie must only have had 2 songs (plus VERY minimal backing vocals on Chris/LB tracks) in contention util they recorded WTTRS. Do you know if other SN songs were recorded for Tango?
@redletter2008 ~ from what ive read how it works is she has TONS of songs and submits them to FM to pick from. What they dont want to use goes to solo projects or they may use them later. She began her solo career because there was always only enough room for a few of her songs per FM project because Lindsey and Christine write songs as well (SO MUCH TALENT!!) and she needed to put more out there than only the few allowed. So Im sure there were more for Tango but there just wasnt room
Another underrated song from the "Tango in the night" era. The music is more driving on this demo version, more rock. I prefer the vocals on the "Tango" album, though.
I love Welcome To The Room...Sara! Although I like the album version better, I do like this! I appreciate these demos. This is one of my favorite songs, so thanks so much for posting!
that pic at 0:27 Stevie looks like a Goddess

Not a very good song from Stevie, but then again she was in a sorry state during the Tango recordings.

i thought it was interesting how the 'frontline baby' bit started out as the third verse to the song. wonder why they changed that?

The bridge sounds much more organic in this version. On the album, that part of the song always sounded tacked-on to me. Thanks for posting.
