25 person raids killed WoW. Why? Because u needed so many different pieces to field an epic guild 2 clear content. U needed a knowledgable & commanding raid leader, u needed 40+ hardcore raiders willing to invest MONTHS into maybe a single boss. Now u need none of that, heck, PuGs can cl
It's a shame the whole epic raid experience was slowly destroyed by Warcraft developers... While Burning Crusade wasn't, in itself, a humongous success for PvE Warcraft players, it was still a step backward. Wrath was just the turning point for the game completely.
Virtually every class was (is) the same, just different colored spells and flashing shit. Introduction of resilience ruined PvP content - competition of gear, not ability. Raid max run down - from 40-player dungeons, to 25 and 10.
To get this far took MONTHS!! You HAD to have a cap that a LW made from Onyxia's hide otherwise you were dead the instant Nefarian came in. I miss those days. :(
This was the heyday for WoW in any elite raider's eyes.
If u were a guild that was half a success u were hot. Many guilds weren't even doing this. Couldn't cut it, not good enough. We cleared MC/Onyxia in a night and were considered the best on the server for that. Wasn't a time issue, or getting people, it was the SKILL that was involved in getting 40 players to form flawlessly. 25 is nothing, I'm sorry. There wasn't any successful pug raids.
40 people, in a _raid_, fighting for days or weeks + to kill/clear one section of a dungeon. Epic. I feel sorry for any gamers out there who didn't experience what us few did, great times. I wouldn't change that experience for any other gaming experience ever.
@levantos Yeah, I just started playing at the start of Cata, and it seems like players are just zerging raid content due to unoriginal mechanics. I think I'll roll a new character, cap my exp at level 60, and try to find a vanilla raiding guild.
@kworalsoa Agree... Those were epic days... Even killing Ragnaros were a major achievement... These days a PUG can kill Lich King and everyone is Geared... I dunno if thats its good or bad but the epic feeling or achievement sure is gone...
whats the name of the song when nef lands its really epic.

I defeated Nefarian in a 40-man raid 5 years ago and it was fantastic. Vanilla WoW was the epitome of my MMO life.
Nothing since then compares. I played TBC to endgame, and it sucked, and I'm now playing Cata, and it's just not the same!
I doubt Cata raids will ever be as good as this, and for that, I mourn this period of gaming...

Best experience ever, in the begginig, is the time of the 40 raid, the time of Leroy, the time of epic.
