I'm not a fan of all of Obama's policies, but the GOP knows that if unemployment drops significantly and the economy grows continuously by 2012, that there is no way they can beat Obama in a re-election bid. When the economy is good the party in power is usually unbeatable. This is why Reagan, Clinton, Bush were re-elected.

@guywalker29 This is true. I would offer one caveat. The Unemployment Rate only counts people who are ACTIVELY looking for work. If you have a temp job that we know will not exist in 6months (e.g. census workers or seasonal Xmas workers), you're not part of the unemployment number AND most importantly, people who have given up (couch huggers) are not counted in the unemployment number. It did go slightly down this month, but the "real" unemployment rate is definately north of 15%
No matter how you look at it, there are some Chicken Littles running around claiming this stuff is out of control and they act like the United States has never seen anything as desperate as this administration and I am merely pointing out, not that this administration is perfect, only that there are some encouraging numbers coming in.

If you look at the U6 unemployment numbers the rate is at 17%.
If you compute the unemployment rate the way they did during the Great Depression the real rate is already at 22%.

@guywalker29 This is true. I would offer one caveat. The Unemployment Rate only counts people who are ACTIVELY looking for work. If you have a temp job that we know will not exist in 6months (e.g. census workers or seasonal Xmas workers), you're not part of the unemployment number AND most importantly, people who have given up (couch huggers) are not counted in the unemployment number. It did go slightly down this month, but the "real" unemployment rate is definately north of 15%

Saudi Arabia only exists because of the US military bases and military protection. This is fact, you see they aren't very well liked in that part of the world. We are using a foreign credit card as currency, so it isn't credit it is 100% debt without interest, with interest it is now 115% debt, and we pay this by borrowing "charging" more on the card.
