Do not buy from the website Mycustomcontroller, it is a ripoff and complete bullshit. They promised on the website that the order will come between 24-48 hours, my order came 2 weeks after ordering using their only shipping option, which was also overpriced. They messed it up and did not include half of my order. Lastly, they are almost impossible to reach. You can only talk through email and they don't ever respond.
ok im not sure if i should paint my controller white and add blue led´s or leave it black and add red led´s so please thumb this comment up for white whit blue led´s or thumb it down for black with red led´s tell me what you think :D
i tried it and failed soo badly. i ruined 2 of my controllers! but they were both old so it doesnt matter. i dropped like 2 of my lights and the other ones wont turn on! OMG! but im gonna try again with a thinner soldering gun and thinner solder.
@SmartieZarary His wattage reccomedations are bullshit it should be no more than a 15 watts iron and use hte smallest solder you can find. Go to a computer service shop and ask there
@MrBustamoves the tool required to take apart your controller is called a torn t8 security driver. we sell them on our mycustomcontroller website. check it out!
ive been sitting here for an hour trying to get the first one on >.> , i have it soldered on with the polarity corect but it wont light up with the others
@MyCustomXbox ive heard there is a different layout for old and new controllers will it be ok to do wireless layout because ive done some research and i found out that my controller is a cg controller
I got all of them off but I accidentally soldered off one of the metal bases under it (the little squares of metal that hold the led) so the led does not light, but I know it works. What can I do? Use solder to replace it?
@ConvexControllers He's suggested 25w and 40w.... my advice would be neither. If you have to ask the question your not very experienced soldering, so the best bet is a low wattage iron such as a 12w (so you dont end up burning the board or anything). Most smaller wattage irons are made specifically for SMD soldering, and I use a 12w myself
I did this couple of days ago and my controller worked just fine and today I changed out the colour of two led's and when I turned on the controller nothing happened exept after a while it got really hot, please help !
@swicket777 Yo mate i heard from lots of reviews that you can use a 40 Watt soldering iron but just use it carefully and dont bathe it in soldering iron like he said ^ , also its really good to remove the LEDS aswell as putting them back on as the iron dries faster. but remember dont bathe it too much in iron. Please thumbs up this comment so people can see that there is no difference. Also i heard that 25Watt soldering iron can be quite weak at getting the LEDs to go back on the circuit board.
@Oozmaan I have done this with 8-10 controllers now, and the only real setback i have had is not hot tweezers. Regular tweezers are bulky and get in the way. Also, Bathing it in solder can be risky seeing as i have lost a few connection points on the board it self.
@swicket777 Ok thats alright but still im giving this notice to everyone here, a 25 watt soldering iron is no different to a 40 watt, as they still have the same tip, all it is the solder might be a little bit hotter than the other one. But just be careful, that is the key <<
@swicket777 Guys Take Note of this: 40 Watt Soldering Iron: - Melts solder quicker - Doesnt Burn the circuit board unless you add too much - Heats up real fast like 10-20 - Good for removing and adding LEDs 25 Watt soldering iron; -Melts solder okay but not fast -Doesnt burn the circuit board much but again dont apply too much -Takes around a minute to heat up -Good for adding Leds but quite bad at removing. ^ Hope this helped. =)
I tried to change out the LEds on my controller. and Im sure i screwed something up, the lights after I soldered them didnt turn on. But when I turned them around thinking I got the Pos and neg backwards they still wouldnt light up... any thoughts?
Im about to buy a new controller and i was wondering if i can send it to you to do the L.E.D lights because the first time i tried i burned the whole circuit board and messed it up?
i have a 15watt soldering iron from radio shack and then got Bernzomatic 4 oz. Leaded Solid Wire Solder from homedepot...I tried to float the led off but everytime i tried the led would still not come off.I also used flux..Do you think i need a higher watt soldering iron?
If i bought the lights and supplies from you guys then do you think a electronic repair place would fix it? Oh and do you have translucent blue thumbsticks and d-pads?
I have a question.. I had a 20 watt soldering iron and i was trying to solder some stuff on my controller and my motherboard, but the friggin iron wont even melt the solder wtf?? So I threw the iron away and baught a 40 watt soldering iron but am having the same problem??? What am i doing wrong??
ok i really wanna do this but i dont know what i need to complete doing this and i also want to spray paint them i would appreciate it if anyone could tell me what i need altogether for doing both changing the led's and spray painting many thanks nameapplied.
@NEWBSLAYER69 Flux is a paste or liquid used to prep metal surfaces for solder, flux helps solder stick to the surface suprizingly well, not expensive
this was my first time soldering. i got it to work, but i was very careful. it is not very hard to do but just make sure that you follow these instructions. thanks scogre!!!!
i just got an LED off and turned on the controller and it did but there was solder on the i think terminal so i tried to get it off and now the controller won't turn on.
@gypsynitro They are blue right?, blue smd's draw 3.0 - 3.3v, since a single aa battery is 1.5v you get the idea. also iv noticed when some people have rapid fire modded their controller the smd's pulsate because the rapid fire chip is drawing more power, if you don't use vibration in games, take em out, problem solved.
@Rocky13Ray I doubt it. Order them off ebay and a set of tweezers for about $6 total. Also get the finest point for the soldering iron. It makes it easier to do.
