Christmas is part of western culture. Atheists and agnostics have no problem celebrating Christmas, so why do certain Jews (not all Jews of course; many Jews celebrate it like everyone else) choose not to enjoy this beautiful holiday?
"Atheists and agnostics have no problem celebrating Christmas"
WELL THERE YOU GO! Why be like EVERYBODY else and take part in a PAGAN celebration? I though this was a free country? Why do you judge ppl based on what they are SHOULDN'T take part in? Christmas is not that big of a deal. And unlike you, I would never question ppl on why they don't go against their beliefs..
@MaDuke Its a Christian celebration with european pagan traditions.
People can do whatever they want, but I just don't think its wrong to celebrate it, just because you don't adhere to Chrstianity. I don't believe in ghosts (@ least I think I don't), or in celtic paganism (cuz of Samhain) but I still celebrate Halloween.
That's why atheists can still celebrate the trees, and candles, santa claus, etc.
But whatever. Its honestly not that big of a deal whether a few people don't join.
You're not Christian kid.. A true Christian wouldn't take part in worldly things. The customs and traditions of Christmas pre-date the birth of Jesus. Yet you still think its Christian. Don't lie to yourself, so you wont feel bad for celebrating it.
"But whatever. Its honestly not that big of a deal whether a few people don't join."
Oh dear, if it wasn't a big deal to you, then why would you care if some Jews celebrate it or not? It was a big deal to you hun.
Jeremiah 10:2-4, "Thus saith the Lord, learn not the way of the heathen; and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven. For the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain. For one cutteth a tree out of the forest. The work of the hands of the workman with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold. They fasten it with nails and with hammers that it move not."
At best, I guess this video was supposed to be funny. I didn't see any clever cutesy "practices". They obviously know less about Christmas than they do about any aspect of Judaism. Sad. Please do not consider these typical or traditional Jews in any way.
Damn, I wanted to hear that guy's story about how his family had no idea how to decorate a tree, that sounded like it was going to be interest, then either the woman interrupted him or you cut away.
Yeah, he was kind of interrupted. But I think one of his stories had to do with the tree not fitting in the apartment and them lopping off the top of it.
the blond woman (4:20) seems to be mean "they love it" I mean how cam she know if christians love Holy Night if shes jewish. Aaa hello an I the only one who finds this confusing?
Do you think it sucks because you feel left out? They love it b/c it's hard NOT to love it, you have to go out of your way not to love it, you have to invent some kind of bigotry in your mind not to love it, and yet that bigotry isn't around in the eyes of christians so you have to do more work not to love it. I'm not saying celebrate it, but don't not-appreciate it for what it is.
I have no reason to feel left out, cause i don't want to be IN.
What is the connection?
I HAVE to love christmas?
WHY?
Because you love it?
You have to understand not everybody share the same opinions as you.
I know christans that HATE Christmas.
I have no idea where did you get the idea that one must get out of his way to not loving Christmas, but i do not blame you,you probably grow up with that holiday so you're used to it,but sorry - not everybody.
Great video! I'd like to follow up and let the world know that, in the end, those little Jewish girls got their Christmas trees one way or the other!

It's not an outrageous assertion, I mean the images of collapsing on your knees embedded in the song would intimate that. wouldn't it?

I,as Jewish,thinks it's sad.
It's one thing to wish your christian friends happy christmas but it's another thing to actully calebrate it and say you love this holiday.
In fact i think it's quite sucks.
