  • Hi, I have an exam coming up which includes a dance. My stimulus is the northern lights, could I possibly use this footage to show the examiner my thought process?

  • I love your videos. I am a musician. If you are interested we can do some collaboration together I make the song, you make the video and we put it out there. Let me know.

    All best,

    Dave.

  • Hey! I am coming to tromso in december..but I am getting lots of different opinions as to when is the best tome of year to see the lights.

In your experience, what is the weather like in tromso in december?

  • @mrpumpkinn and also, what is the best time of year to see them, in your opinion?

  • Thank v

  • Hopefully I get to see this for real this winter, thank you for this video

  • notice that the lights do not flash, nothing Moves, only the effect, this is false

  • 08/09 best winter holiday ever . just don't go to night club in tromso main square alone at christmas when most places are closed :)

  • Wundervoll!!

  • Nossa eu acho isso tão lindo...essa é uma das minhas paixões!algum dia vou poder ver Aurora Boreal de perto!

  • Vilken tid punkt på dagen/natten och tid på året kommer det här? Varje kväll?

  • why does it look green ?

  • @TheMasenko Its depends on what kind of gas the charged particles hit.

  • Stunning!

  • takk for dett !

  • Do they look really like in the movie? I wanna be there to see them.

  • @SuperSanjulian it can some times be even more colorful than on this video. I know because I live here i Tromsø. Some nights the Aurora Borealis is calm goes in slow long waves. Other time it is more action.

Someone asked when to see them. I would say in the evening or nights when it is at dark outside. And ofcourse it help if there is no clouds on the sky :)

  • @F0NIX do you need to go outside the city center to view the northern lights, or can you see them in the city?

  • @1welcome it depend on the brightness of the Aurora Borealis. You can go to the top of the Island near a little lake called "Prestvannet", it is just a little walk up from Tromsø city centrum. There you will have a good view to the lights. I have often went there for photographing stars and Aurora Borealis.

  • @F0NIX thanks for the info!

I'll be going to Poland for work from September to December, and was thinking to go to Norway to catch the Northern Lights, but can only afford a weekend because of work. :( When is the best possible time to travel? My initial plan was on the weekend of November 11 since its a holiday in Poland that time, thus maybe I could spare an extra day for travel.

Many thanks for your help thus far. :)

  • I am planning a road trip in Scandinavia. I am thinking of Copenhagen - Malmø - Stockholm - Kiruna - Tromsø - Trondheim - Bergen - Oslo - ferry to Cph.

When do you think it would the best time to arrive in Tromsø to see the aurora borealis?

  • my hometown <3

  • Very very beautiful! Tromso whould be a nice love trip for my and my girlfriend!

  • Its hypnotizing in a way. If I were outside looking at this I doubt id realize how much time was going by.

  • Heaven åpenbar

  • Great video. Very soothing. You can sometimes see the aurora borealis where I live, but it has to be a clear night, and even then it might not be that visible. Where I come from, we call it the Merry Dancers.

  • @23234A If you want to watch an aurora Borealis, you want to go to the north, and Tromsö is perhaps the best place to do so, if you want to watch the aurora Australis, it's mainly visible in the Antarctica.

  • Nydelig!!

  • Absolutely fantastic video. Thanks. * This should be a remix video I've made this far on the basis of your video. I added music, and part of another video. Here is the result.

  • Speechless!!!

  • I've always wanted to see this spectacular phenomenon.

  • Wow - perfection in the sky. I have to see this some time.

  • So many people travel towards exotic places. To see the sun, get a suntan. Not me, nah ah. I'm going to Norway when I get the chance. I can see enough sun over here and get a suntan in the summer. I can't see the aurora borealis over here, so if it's up to me, send me to Norway!

  • Vel dig bra!Tussen takk......!

  • How quickly does this stuff move? It looks amazing, and I am planning on going there in 2012

  • Tusen takk...!

  • Det ser virkelig flott ut. Det jeg ville gi å se at akkurat nå.

  • Brother Bear =]]]] hahHA

  • 1:09 thats the most beautiful sky I ever seen! I love to bathe under the moonlight like that!

  • Which is the best month to chase the lights?

  • @torevenm thank u for this upload - it's just beautiful ! may i ask u a couple of questions, pls? how often do the lights appear in tromso, norway? do they last all night long, every night? i can only imagine that it must be like living in a technicolor dream for the residents of that town! anything more u could tell me about the experience of being there while this event is happening would be great to hear. all the best to you from the usa! cece

  • thats far beyond magic...

  • I think it's the most beautiful thing i've ever seen.

i'd love to see this before i die.

  • @torevenm wow! tusen takk for the awesome video...damn i wish i was in norway!!!

  • I want to see an Aurora Borealis, at least, once in my life <33

  • Takk for det :) har lagt ut en ny film nettopp, med nordlys fra våren 2010

  • Veldig fine opptak dette :). De over huset var ekstra stilig synes jeg.

  • this is so cool. we saw one in memphis. it is very rare when u see them here. it was right after our football game that we won by the3 way. it was so shocking that we saw it all the way here from one of the poles.

  • Im proud to be Scandinavian..

  • GORGEOUS!

  • how beautiful!!

  • ha, and to think if we ever tried to touch it we would get cancer and die

  • I planning to visit Tromso soon!..I would like to know can u snowboard there? and is it expensive for accommodation for example hostel?

  • I am so proud to be living here!

  • wow, watching this i've decided to go to Norway

  • i seen this on late december 2008,at exact locations.

i only took photos,i wish i had took videos.

  • Meh, I see this all the time and seems as nothing special since i live in Tromsø :)

  • Vakkert :) Håper vi får sett nordlys her i Bergen i kveld, ser at partiklene flytter seg veldig mye mellom Møre og Romsdal og Hordaland

  • amazing! how did it take such a lot different views of our aurora?

  • Wow.. That's amazing....

  • un jour j 'irai..en defender avec une cellule.......

  • This is what we call heaven

  • When is the best time of the year in Tromsø to see this?

  • @23234A , in the north, and tromsø is a perfect place for seeing this =)

  • Great Time-lapse / Night Photography Video.

But what are the data's of this video, like compression rate ( time in video : real time ) What Exposure time/ISO/Aperture did you use?

The Eos 5D seems to have a good sensor, because the Images are quite low in noise.

  • @buchnermarkus, hello!

what I can remember, most of the frames are jpeg, iso 1000-1600, wide open aperture, exp. time from 2-6 seconds. And the time on the video are faster than realtime, maybe 5-10 times. A new video coming soon!

  • do auroras really move in the sky like that? i know this video is made by still frames and edited but in some occasions do they move?

  • @BrooklynGirl11 Yes, they move constantly. That's why it's so hard catching a good picture or video of it, 'cos it moves so quickly. One minute it's all over the sky, the next it's gone :)

  • sob7aaan ALLAH

  • Do you get a lot of northern lights living in Tromso, Norway or does it rarely happen?

  • Oh this makes me miss that city sooooo much! Tromso and Norway in my heart forever!

  • bra bilder ja! men det e jo helt sykt at folk drar hit til drit-tromsø for å se på det der :P
