I was really shocked she only got 3rd place Little Big Star during that time. Fil voted for the good looking Sam Concepcion yet very common and plain voice. Even the 2nd placer sounded better than him. I think she'd been on ASAP for a little while though but never really gave an opportunity like the others.

Forgive me if I'm not understanding all the "players" here (I'm a non-Filipino in the U.S.)...but I agree w/ statements it appears she is now being used by local entertainment interests in the Philippines. Where were these networks when Charice was getting her break here in the U.S.? I find it odd it was Americans who gave her a shot, but she's supposed to still feel some sense of loyalty to these small people who didn't help her before she became big.

She is very talented and it's such a shame that Filipinos did not give her that initial shot because she did not fit the Filipino ideal beauty which is tall, light skinned, and slender. The Philippine entertainment industry cares more for beauty than talent; there are so many 'actors' & 'actresses' that can barely act, sing, or even speak English as fluently as she does, combine them all and they still don't amount to her.
