With due respect to Mr Lee Kuan Yew and his non-comprising stance on corruption in his country, it is inconsistent with his fundamental belief. Is corruption a taboo in Singapore but OK in other countries? Maybe, so long as it benefits Singapore? While we accept the good deeds of Suharto, should we ignore his misdeeds? In any case, he DID enriched his family and good friends!! And that's really wrong!!

Even if Suharto died without being tried, beside efforts to recover embezzled money, Indonesia should proceed with a "Truth Commission" to determine Suharto's deeds and misdeeds & his place in history. This will help clear the conscience of Indonesians & improve the confidence of Indonesians in Justice & the Rule of Law. Do Not Forget KKN (Corruption, Cronyism & Nepotism) which Suharto developed to an art.

I agree with Wima Witoelar that NOT only Suharto should be tried but the Indonesian public are being put trial too. People like Emil Salim and others have clouded the issue of justice for the Indonesian people by "apologising" on Suharto's behalf by not admitting his misdeeds & highlighting only his "achievements".
